Good point about Quadrilateral’s size and scope, Joni. Form on the racecourse is important but so too is scope to grow in to her frame/likely improvement. She towers above many rivals in that respect even if the form isn’t significantly superior. Glad we’re already on at bigger prices for the Guineas and rightfully favourite. However, taking everything in to consiferation – whether deserving to be half the price of Powerful Breeze and Albigna at this stage… Doubtful imo.
Value Is EverythingOctober 29, 2019 at 18:56 #1473160Interesting piece of news, wasn’t sure where to post this so I thought this was the best place:

Just wondered who could play the younger Henry or his twin come to that if they are going back that far…and where are they going to find a horse to play Frankel. I know Aldaniti played himself in Bob Champion’s story but Frankel as a stallion could not, but perhaps one of his young progeny will stand in…looking forward to this it’s going to be another tear jerker ..

Definitely Chaos, I think we should all be given tickets for the Premiere.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 30, 2019 at 00:54 #1473184Think it will just cover the period he had Frankel – Irons a very good actor and has the physical attributes similar to the great late man.
Hadn’t thought about how they would film the Frankel scenes, highly unlikely but maybe they could use the horse himself in a very limited capacity i.e. close ups and walking shots.
Wonder if they will be looking to film on location in Newmarket/Warren Place (if available) and actual racecourses in particular or whether it will be a film more focused on the trainers point of view balancing his personal struggles with training Frankel, with the horse himself playing merely a background type role, as filming any realistic horse racing scenes is very difficult and could be expensive.
October 30, 2019 at 09:34 #1473206It will be very interesting how they approach those issues LD and they did manage race schemes in Secretariat’s story with old footage used also, it’s sent me rushing off to watch it again I know I have it somewhere amongst my 100’s of DVD’s.
What an amazing woman Penny Chenery was a female Sir Henry Cecil in her determination to see her horse crowned a Champion
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 30, 2019 at 13:24 #1473299Jeremy Irons is a great choice to portray Sir Henry. I am just a bit sceptical about the film being any good. I will happily be proven wrong but how can any dramatic reconstruction truly capture the brilliance of Frankel’s best performances?

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...February 2, 2020 at 15:33 #1481747“Mozu Ascot” won the G3 1400m Negishi Stakes. It was his first run on dirt.
He broke slow, lost a couple of lengths, was 3 wide for the trip and was still pulling away in the end.
His next run will be the G1 February Stakes on 23rd Feb. If he manages to win it, he’ll have won a Japanese group 1 both on turf and dirt.

February 11, 2020 at 11:28 #1482625HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRANKEL.
About this time last year I posted on this thread about the APEX Northern Hemisphere stallion data for the previous year, and about how that showed what a top class stallion Frankel was. The data for 2019 was published a couple of weeks ago, and the situation is much the same. Frankel is top of the world rankings for the percentage of his offspring getting into the top 2% of earners, and third in the world rankings for the percentage of his offspring getting into the top 8% of earners. There were 748 stallions listed for 2019.
An Average stallion has a score of 1.00. Frankel’s score of 6.20 means that his offspring have 6.20 times the chance of being in the top 2% of earners compared to a horse by an average stallion .
Some highlights from the data:
The top five live stallions for getting offspring in the top 2% of earners are:
Frankel at 6.20
Galileo at 5.96
Dubawi at 5.08
Farhh at 4.35 (Note: has relatively few runners compared to other top class stallions)
War Front at 4.35Some other notable stallions scores:
Sea The Stars 3.20
No Nay Never 2.94
Shamardal 2.87
Teofilo 2.87
Camelot 2.66
Kitten’s Joy 2.49
Siyouni 2.21
Lope De Vega 2.15
Dark Angel 2.12
New Approach 2.11
Kingman 2.08It is interesting to compare stallion fees (from Racing Post) with stallions’ ability to sire classy racehorses.

February 23, 2020 at 11:22 #1483681Thank you PunterLog for finding and posting the video. Mozu Ascot seemed to win that comfortably. Tough, strong, still improving at age six. What more could we ask of a Frankel horse?
February 23, 2020 at 11:30 #1483683Good weekend for Frankel as his daughter, Aurora Flash also won on the same card and Collide won a listed race in France.
Mozu Ascot is an interesting horse. Looked a superstar when he won his grade 1 on turf, lost his way for a well over a year, then comes back and wins his first two dirt races, a grade 3 and this grade 1. I am sure that, if he was based in Europe, he would have been whisked off to stud before he was able to show his true potential (and versatility). Glad his connections have been rewarded for their patience. Sounds like he’s bound for Australia next for the Doncaster Mile
February 26, 2020 at 22:39 #1483955Just goes to show how fragile life as a horse can be and some of the things we never get to hear about that go on behind the scenes, at least this has a happy ending
