When you’re there, could you make sure that everything is running in the races they should be? Last week’s meeting in that area was a complete debacle. Just coz they are in the middle of nowhere it doesn’t mean they can get away with flagrant rule-breaking (or maybe they’re just thick…)
April 1, 2007 at 01:51 #103260I missed that, HJ. Bother at Cilwendeg and / or Llanfrynach, was it? What happened?
They didn’t get everything quite right at Ystradowen today. Running out of racecards by the first race looked a bit of a miscalculation, and the commentator’s position would still be better placed inside the track (and at a greater height – the first in the straight remains very hard to view as things stand).
Can’t comment on them getting every horse in the right race, but having three Confineds in a six-race card will have helped a bit, e.g. "Entries for the next race close in five minutes. Kindly p*ss off out of the tent if you’re not from round here", etc.
Uniformally low-grade stuff on the whole, but it was great to see Longstone Boy find another small contest at the ripe old age of 15.

April 24, 2007 at 08:16 #103267Cheltenham next week for me too. I’ve had it pencilled in ever since….errr…..Cheltenham Hunter Chase day 2006!
Following that, Towcester on May 14th for Volkswagen Touareg Final day, the same track eight days later and then Stratford on the 25th for John Corbett Cup evening.
Also hoping to squeeze in a few P2P fixtures before the season is out, and will definitely be at Umberleigh for the end of season bash on June 16th. Everybody welcome – strong livers recommended.
April 24, 2007 at 11:55 #103268Might take in Towcester tonight.. And another P2P meeting somewhere before the season is over.
April 26, 2007 at 11:44 #103269Bath on Tuesday May 1st.

April 27, 2007 at 21:01 #103272Possibles later on next week if they run with Nottingham on Wednesday for Taj and Wolves on Thursday for Teddy.
April 27, 2007 at 21:15 #103273I was going to go to the point-to-point at Parham tomorrow (hard ground, low-flying aircraft), but have been re-routed to Laleston, nr Bridgend now. One of few courses with a stretch of something other than turf to traverse, this – the woodside section of the course involves running over wood chips. Sounds interesting!

You weren’t a million miles away from where I live.

May 1, 2007 at 13:38 #103275Well Cheltenham’s off because my partner in crime Zome has gone and got herself a Proper Job so she probably won’t make a great impression if she starts asking for holiday time already.
Sigh.
