Agree with the vast majority of what Mickey says. Press, politicians and social media are, as ever, desperate to divide us on this. It’s all they know. We must, according to them, be on one side or the other and people are falling over themselves to ‘stand with’ somebody or other but what’s wrong with just wanting peace?

It currently fills the news channels but it’ll be relegated to ‘just another conflict’ soon enough. Remember Ukraine? That’s still happening, although you’d hardly know it from most news sources. I’d love to see peace there too, as well as in all the other conflicts going on around the globe :rose:

Is the phrase ‘War Crime’ a tautology?
Is the phrase ‘Rules of War’ an oxymoron?

This madness is a sad reflection on us all. Man’s inhumanity to man knows no bounds. Both sides behaviour beggars belief. I stay out of politics and discussions involving religion and here’s why.
Our intelligence we often proudly declare, is what separates us from Animals and yet in truth this going on here is what separates us from Animals.

Israel seems determined to make more terrorists of the Palestinians and more enemies out of their neighbours.

Can understand them wanting Hamas eradicated, but even if succeeding in that aim they’ve got to be very careful of what takes the place of Hamas. Hamas are terrorists but they are not a strong terrorist group.

Immediately after the October 7th attacks, Israel should have appealed to the Palestinian people to hand over Hamas. I know it would be highly unlikely to happen, but if it did then both sides would’ve shown / achieeved some political will and a true two state solution may have been possible… And if not handing Hamas over then Israel would’ve had more worldwide support in going into Gaza…

As it is I can only see more trouble

We are now Waiting on Hezbollah and Iran to see if the conflict widens.
Needs some strong words in private from Blinken and Biden.

Israel’s total non compliance of the “accepted boundries” of war will
leave them a with the problem of anti-semitism after the war from
those who have been seeking what they will cite as a justifiable
reason to inflict mayhem on the jewish community. Nothing justifies
this or the atrocities carried out by Hamas at the start of this war.
Today Isreal bombed outside the largest Hospital in Gazza and the
Red Crescent say they have ambulances destroyed there and others
which were on their way back from Rafah in the south.

Israel say it is necessary to eliminate Hamas. So it seems that a
new rule has been made by Israel, it is acceptable to kill thousands
of innocent civilians and children in their aim to destroy Hamas.

I’m not defending Hamas, what they did was evil beyond words, but the
response from Israel will never be forgotten. This is nowhere near over
and perhaps Hamas’s idea all along was to escalate things to such a point
that it would bring others into a war against Israel.

There is a sizable build up of Hezbollah at the Lebanon/Israel border.
Iran haven’t themselves shown their hand but they back both Hamas and
Hezbollah. This has been horrifyingly tragic, but I honestly fear that
the worst is yet to come.

Israel says Hamas is using ambulances to transport its forces.
If that is true it gives Israel some justification in going for that ambulance..
And it’s supposedly the same with some hospitals.
    But are they just excuses?
Israel tells Palestinian civilians to go South and then targets the South.
So how can they expect them to go South?
Where are the civilians supposed to go?
With Gaza being so crowded and such a large proportion of the population under 18, sadly a large number of children are going to be killed. But it still shouldn’t be as many as reported.
Either Israel’s targeting doesn’t seem accurate enough or they don’t care.

Israel’s defence and law force has always seemed a law unto itself.
Even before this latest conflict – evicting Arabs for seemingly no reason, collective punishment of communities by demolition of homes, no independent inquiry into the killing of an Al Jazeera journalist etc

So much of us is reflected in what is happening. I am neither pro or anti any of the jokers leading these peoples to oblivion.
We are powerless it seems to make our governments do our will. I said to someone I was a supporter of the environment. She said to me you should join the Green Party they would support me.
I said “no they wouldn’t. Like all politicians they would take power and then rob us all blind and no I don’t identify with their ideals.”
Until the young people take over this crazy mad world we have absolutely no chance. I don’t respect any political regime and when our leaders support and weaponise each other and industrialists militarise all of our scientific breakthroughs and kill our children and tomorrows scientists and poets and lovers and teachers we have no chance whatsoever.
My hope is that by trying to improve my part of the globe with plants and love that I can at least make a little bit of difference. But to see children dying day after day fills me with anger towards the useless shower of **** that are our own corrupt and evil politicians and I fear for our children too. IF YOU TOLERATE THIS THEN YOUR CHILDREN WILL BE NEXT. Never a truer word spoken in a song.
I express myself in prose and my work it feels as though it is all I have.
We are not powerless and all this madness has to be stopped before it is too late.
We are so advanced have cured for this that and the other and yet have descended way below the advancement that we should have made as an intelligent species.

Israel in it’s headlong rush to exact revenge has slaughtered thousands of people. Prople in the west have stood by helpless while their leaders despite having signed countless treaties to establish a So called United Nations organisation supposedly meant to step and prevent things like this occurring have failed to stop this slaughter of the innocents.

    Burden of Shame
    (An Adaptation)
There are murders that we must account for
Bloody deeds have been done in my name
Criminal acts we must pay for
And our children will shoulder the blame
    [Chorus: x2]
I’m a British subject, not proud of it
While I carry the burden of shame
As a nation we’re following blindly
    No-one stops to question why
    Our money’s supporting an army
And a boy in GAZA dies
    [Chorus]
I’m a British subject, not proud of it
While I carry the burden of shame
Must we go on ignoring forever
The cries of an Arabian son
There’s a Israeli soldier’s hand on the trigger
But it’s we who are pointing the gun
    [Chorus]
I’m a British subject, not proud of it
While I carry the burden of shame.
