Sky News employ two military analysts: Professor Michael Clarke and Air Vice Marshall (Rtd.) Sean Bell, who between them kick BBC analysis far into touch.

Following Priti Patel and others calls for the UK to become involved in the war, the latter made the point this afternoon that the best reason not to was that we’d become – from an Ianian point of view – a legitimate target for Iranian ballistic missiles, which can reach the UK but not the USA; and furthermore he said that we lack any ground-based defences, such as Israel’s ‘iron dome’ technology, to intercept such missiles

Be warned bellicose members of the British ‘elite’.

“Thoughts with all the ‘expats’ like that bloke who left the horrors of London for the safety of the UAE.”

Plenty of “influencers” are not looking quite so clever now as well.

Nor are a lot of jockeys, trainers and racing media types.

It’s no surprise that people who pluck their opinions out of their backside get riled by people like Owen Jones, who actually provide evidence to support their positions:

    Facts, eh? Who needs ’em?

As you righly say, there is no justification for Trump and Israel atarting this war. They destroyed Iraq on the false fantasy they had weapons of mass destruction, now it is Iran’s turn. The UK and the EU are too feeble to take the USA on. It is shameful that innocent children are being massacred.

You can be against the Iranian regime and critical of the US/Israel military action at the same time.

He was 86 and in poor health. Now he’s a martyr to his supporters, and those supporters still exist.

One of the reasons for taking out Saddam Hussein was the way that he was slaughtering his own people so the west assumed that the Iraqi people would welcome their intervention. Well, that didn’t go well, did it. But we never learn do we. And having liberated the people in Afghanistan we then handed them back to the Taliban.

Just like you can be critical of both the Hamas attack of 7th October 2023 and Israel’s horrendous overreaction to it. Unfortunately, the agenda to divide and rule means that anyone who holds more than one position at a time is derided: “Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists” as George W. Bush infamously said in 1991.

The Iran Iraq and Russian Afghan wars shows what a dangerous game Trump is playing. Moe is right we never seem to learn.

I’d rather be a “pinko lib” (whatever that is) than a RWNJ, any day of the week.

So, just to confirm, you are happy with a British government aiding and abetting an illegal war in which many innocent civilians will be killed?

    Shame on you.

I thought I’d paste the story from that famously “pinko lib” paper, the FT.
