Starmer doesn’t have any say in the matter. He is an errand boy, doing what he is told. A performing puppet on a string, like the other 649 in the Commons. Playing their roles to con the gullible into thinking they have a choice. Stop falling for it.

    @Wilts – you haven’t answered the question.

I appreciate that comprehension isn’t the forte of most RWNJ – they certainly don’t appear to understand facts – but surely you could confirm that you’re happy for the British government to assist in the slaughter of civilians.

Dear, oh dear. You have little understanding of the Persian state, dont you. Persia, lately known as Iran, has peoples from all faiths, many of whom have been persecuted by the regime that’s ruled for nearly 50 years.

You’d rather support a regime who’s massacred its own citizens for nigh on 50 years.
Treats its women as 2nd class citizens.
Imprisons its own popluation without trial.
Feeds its proxies in the Middle East to destabilise the region. Has a military aim of eliminating the state of Israel.
Puts its own henchmen on the streets of London and other Euro countries to eliminate its own ‘dissident’ countrymen and women.

Proud of that stance, are you?

Where did I say that I support the old regime?

And you still haven’t answered the question.

“Treats its women as 2nd class citizens.”

Including executing women who have been raped, on the grounds of “crimes against chastity”. There are some horrendous images online if you care to look (I wouldn’t recommend it).

I won’t shed a single tear if this brutal regime is toppled. However, Western interventions in the Middle East do not have a track record of success and I have grave doubts about this one being any different.

A point which gets overlooked is Iran (Persian and Shia) is very different from and opposed by the Arab and Sunni countries, with Saudi Arabia at the forefront. If Iran starts striking at those countries beyond the current drone strikes, the situation could escalate into something even more serious than it is now.

Not overlooked by me, for sure.

Israel and the Sunni-led Middle East countries have been in dialogue for years now.(Been under severe strain in last 2 years). Their common threat is the Shia-Iran regime.

The Middle East is a politically complex area, for sure (massive understatement).

None of us support Iran; we agree that any country which shoots its own citizens needs regime change. But we must be even handed. If we condemn Iran we must condemn Israel who have murdered thousands of innocent Palestinians, including shooting thousands of children in cold blood.

In Israel’s case the bloodshed continued after Palestine was defenceless. What will happen now is that the joint power of the USA and Israel will win and Iran will lose their weapons. Once Iran is defenceless, Israel will continue bombing and killing people until that country is obliterated. Then we will have complete silence as noboby is allowed to criticize Israel. It is sad the way things are going.

“On 21 November 2024, following an investigation of war crimes and crimes against humanity, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for two senior Israeli officials, Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, and Yoav Gallant, the former Minister of Defense of Israel, alleging responsibility for the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts during the Gaza war.[1][2] The warrant against Netanyahu is the first against the leader of a Western-backed democratic country for war crimes.[3][4][5]

All 125 ICC member states, including France and the United Kingdom, are required to arrest Netanyahu and Gallant if they enter the state’s territory.[6] The ICC also issued an arrest warrant for Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike on 13 July 2024 but whose death remained unconfirmed at the time.[a] By January 2025, Hamas confirmed Deif’s death, and a few weeks later the ICC cancelled the arrest warrant against him.[9][10] Warrants may still be issued against additional Israeli senior IDF officers involved in the Gaza war[11][12]—an action recommended by a United Nations Commission of Inquiry, which also called for genocide charges to be added to the warrant after finding the Israeli government guilty of multiple violations of the 1948 Genocide Convention.[13]”

    “Have people forgotten this?”

Facts aren’t convenient to the RWNJ agenda.

I notice @Wilts still hasn’t answered either of my questions, by the way.

Partly due to our meddling in it, including in Iran over the years.

The Government is rightly looking at how to safely evacuate British citizens should it be required. I assume all of the ‘expats’ who left the country because taxes are too high and you get stabbed all the time to go somewhere safe and low tax like Dubai will be refusing the Government’s taxpayer funded help.

I also assume that those who support this military action will be happy for the country to take in some of the refugees that will inevitably need somewhere to go when Western bombs make their countries uninhabitable.

Moehat, I haven’t forgotten but our politicians have. They are all afraid of Trump and the USA. With international law in chaos thanks to the likes of Trump and Farage we are back to where billionaires are right and the rest of us are wrong.

I was speaking to a client who lives in Dubai this afternoon. He has access to Sky News and he says that they are blowing everything out of all proportion – people are pretty much living their lives as normal over there and all the hysteria and panic you see on the internet and in British media is nonsense.

The rightwing media making a mountain out of a molehill? Who’d have thunk it? 🤷‍♂️
