And organised crime. All those buildings weren’t built through oil revenues.

I have no sympathy for the theocratic regime in Iran, but it’s always possible to make a bad situation worse. According to Pete Hegseth, there are no ‘rules of engagement.’

“According to Pete Hegseth, there are no ‘rules of engagement.’”

It goes beyond that: not only is there no strategy but the end target keeps changing.

Essentially, Netanyahu was determined to attack Iran, so America had to follow. I wonder what all the neo-Nazi MAGA idiots think of American foreign policy being dictated by a Jew? 🤔

I really hope Starmer blocks out the hysterical right wing press noise. They’re practically begging us to join this illegal war purely because it’s an opportunity to kick Starmer. Suddenly the ‘specal relationship’ is under threat because we won’t do exactly what Trump is telling us to. That sounds like an abusive relationship to me, not a special one.

That’s the so-called patriots who are siding with a foreign government over our own, the same people who were banging on about ‘sovereignty’ now demanding we do what someone else tells us to. Truly a vile bunch of people.

    Richard88,

You are 100% spot on. Our evil right wing press are sponsored and financed by Americsn billionaires. Their editors are told what to write or lose their jobs.

I congratulate Starmer for refusing to support an illegal war. In any event there has NEVER been a special relationship between the UK and USA. We have merely been subordinate helping them on demand, but never the other way round. They only came into WW2 because the Japanse bombed Pearl Harbour. The only special relationship is between the USA and Israel.

serious question is it still illigal to go after Iran after the ‘attack’ on our cyprus base?

Me i wanted to keep out of it but do we just let Iran have a ‘freebie’ at one of bases? what do the left believe the right course of action should be after that, or do we wait till some of our servicemen/women are killed?

As i said intially i did not want our troops involved but now ??

Surprising that Iran have made public that the Ayatollah’s funeral will be today and stated where it will be held, as surely that’s an invitation to the USA and Israel to join the cortege, in the shape of ordnance falling from the sky.

Or would that be a step too far?

Or perhaps the Iranians are wanting an attack, in the hope that it will indeed be viewed as a step too far.

No is the answer. We should not have had joint bases with the Americans anywhere in the world. This war is definitely illegal and we should steer well clear. There is no point in having thousands of our soldiers being killed just to satisfy Trump’s ego.

I see some of the usual brains trust are telling us that this war means we need to get tapping into all that North Sea Oil and gas. Yes, there’s some there but not nearly enough to make much material difference.

The war is an argument for renewables which would reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.

I’m sure that in previous wars our troops have said they feared friendly fire from the Americans as much as from the people they were fighting.

This war is getting ridiculous with everyone around the world worried that gas and oil will run out. It is about time Canada, UK, Australia and Europe got together with China to knock three stupid heads together.

Point again, I don’t China would like it and if Trump did this it would be the end of him. China is the only country who could beat the USA without breaking sweat.

How do you define a World War? Who has to be involved and for how long in order to get to WW III?
Not, that I’m asking for one, but I think we’re getting pretty close to it…..
