    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/feb/09/reform-worcestershire-council-tax-england-largest-rise

Obviously, it’s all Starmer’s fault as the government gave permission for this to happen.

To find this story from the BBC homepage, you have to go to News > England > Local News > Hereford and Worcester. And RWNJ still think the BBC is “leftwing”. 😂

Don’t recall a huge amount from the BBC on Reform’s by-election leaflet that is being investigated by the police for breaking the rules. They are trying to blame the missing legally required information on a printing error (always somebody else’s fault) but it has been pointed out that the leaflet as it is fits perfectly on a sheet of A4. Had it been misaligned this would probably be obvious.

Separately the ‘party of the working man’ has been calling for an end to working from home and focus on work life balance. He could try working from his constituency for once rather than running a perpetual election campaign. And who wants work life balance? I for one would much rather spend my time making even more money for his billionaire chums.

My ideal work-life balance is predicated upon working from home. The same would apply to millions of people up and down the country.

Trump was elected because he was legislating on behalf of the working man; ha ha. What they got was losing their jobs and healthcare. The big question is whether the working man in the UK is just as stupid? Reform is campaigning on the opposite of what they are planning, which is to replace jobs with AI and abolish the NHS. In the meantime before AI is truly effective the working man can get into the office. Farage and Reform don’t believe in the work life balance. They want us to be like the USA where the maximum holiday entitlement is 2 weeks per year and even then you are encouraged not to take them. Like his mentor, Trump, Farage does not believe in climate change, despite all the evidence to the contrary.

It won’t stop at annual leave entitlement, either. Sick pay, maternity/paternity leave, flexible working, weekends… they’ll all be gone or reduced considerably if Farage gets in.

But, you know, he’s looking after the working man.

Reform going full Trump by saying that they would withdraw funding, were they in a position to do so, from Bangor University for not platforming Sarah Pochin and Jack Anderton.

Uproar as Reform policy chief threatens to defund Welsh university

This is the future if they get elected: do what we say, or your funding will be withdrawn. And that won’t just apply to universities, of course.

The Reform response is risible but Bangor are wrong to not allow them to speak

Anyone and everyone should be allowed to express their views: it’s called free speech, and the best and only constructive way to counter extreme dogma – or any opinion one simply disagrees with – is through debate

I’m sure many remember the splendid disassembling of Nick Griffin on Question Time: that’s the way to do it

    No-platforming just strengthens the no-platformed

I am all for free speech and debate so should uni debating societies be. Just my view and many will disagree but I won’t from my toys out of the pram if they do

Goodwin, Reform in general and their ilk on the right are dreadful hypocrites but the wise way to deal with that is not be hypocritical oneself, hence my dislike for the no-platforming by Bangor University. Let Reform and whoever spout their rhetoric wherever they want, and counter it with constructive criticism

Perching on a moral high horse and preaching ‘They’re all a bunch of…(choose whatever crudity you fancy)…and we should ignore them’ solves nothing and allows extremists free-rein

“Again Richard ( not you personally )nothing side about the cut and paste labour lies about Goodwin on what he ‘said’ about the area”

Lies? What Lies? Here is what Goodwin actually said:

    In 2009:

“I find it difficult to believe that Manchester finished above Rome, Madrid & London in the most livable cities list”.

    In 2023:

“I was lucky enough, or unfortunate enough, to be in Manchester a few days ago, and the energy in this room is 10 times what it was in Manchester, so congratulations.”

You shouldn’t believe everything you read on your RWNJ X feed.

I agree that free speech is imporant, but moderate politicians must counter their lies immediately. What concerns me is that Reform have billionaires behind them and if they go unchallenged they will win.

I remenber the Brexit election. Leavers EVERY day for weeks on end shouted out the huge amount that we paid to be in Europe. Nobody on the Remain side pointed out the amount we got back, nor did they demonstrate that all this mythicsl money going into the NHS was a lie.

It is just the same now. Day after day Farsge says how the Uk has gone down hill because we have too many immigrants. His mates in high places say the same thing (the part owner of Manchester United as an example). The rhetoric is the same as Hitler used against the Jews. Our moderate politicians need to fight back daily by pointing out that we need immigrants in the NHS and in Care homes. Instead, moderate politicians are far too timid; they are currently restricting the immigrants we need because they can and doing very little about boat people because they cannot do anything without infringing internation law.

Farage will say that by their actions even moderate governments agree with him. It is just they are incapable of doing the job. Su we need him. As I said, moderate governments need to fight back now and FAST.

There’s a thread in the main horse racing forum started by Helcatmudwrestler about how exorbitant training fees are in the UK compared to in Australia.

This relates to the popularity of Reform: pretty much everything is a rip-off in Britain due to profiteering, and companies looking to maximise profit, but the masses are brainwashed into thinking that they don’t have any money in their pockets due to immigrants taking “their” jobs and keeping wages down.

The fact that people are so easily fooled does not reflect well upon their intelligence.
