We would need to have the the Bryony Frost walkover cup , one runner and at the end everyone cries there eyes out , the cup is then handed over to Bryony by Rachel Blackmore so everyone can see a top female jockey …..I like Bryony but ..

August 10, 2021 at 06:16 #1554183We,d also have to heavily water the course for the final race of the day , the Nicky Henderson ” it’s heavy ” handicap hurdle , just before the off Nicky walks on the course and personally withdraws his 5 horses , he then followed by his 5 horses walks past the stands flicking Vickie’s at the crowd while the crowd boo , the bookies cheer and Matt Chapman combustes live on air …

August 10, 2021 at 08:15 #1554186Great stuff, HDLG.

A Samcro Cup would never work.
Nicholls, Skelton and Heavy Ground Nicky would run their highly promising novices which had hacked up somewhere and received a quote of 8/1 for Cheltenham – only for a Mullins third string to beat them without coming off the bridle.
Agree with all the comments about Derek Thompson as well. I have met him a few times – his family and my father’s family lived in the same part of Middlesbrough and their mothers were good friends. Whenever we were at the races and C4 were there, my father would say hello to Derek. He always had time for a chat. He is a good presenter – I just do not rate his as a commentator.

He absolutely just doesn’t care what anyone thinks of him.

August 10, 2021 at 16:01 #1554209The crowd at Saturday’s Shergar Cup was less than half the number that turned up the last time the team event was staged two years ago.
A total of 11,100 people attended the event, compared to 23,505 in 2019 and 31,097 three years ago.

I’m a Boro lad, though not lived there for decades, I think that Thommo is from up the road a bit in Stockton on Tees. Where Teesside Park races once was. Closed down forty years ago and is now a retail park, sadly.
August 10, 2021 at 18:55 #1554227Never knew Thommo was a Smoggy. He has made a canny effort to completely lose his accent.

August 14, 2021 at 10:28 #1555494Another uninspiring racing Saturday today. Anyone else wish we could have the Shergar Cup again? Unless Robbo thinks there is an unbeatable good thing in the Great St Wilfrid…
August 14, 2021 at 10:33 #1555498For the purist, the Geoffrey Freer Stakes and the Hungerford Stakes just up the road from me at Newbury have to be a notch up on last week but, that said, I can’t be bothered to go, ditto Bath tonight where it’s the ironically-named “Ladies” Night, not that we men will be any better behaved.
The Great St Wilfrid is, at least, a traditional Handicap.
