I doubt that mate, he’ll be entered in some race where he can climb the handicap a bit and be aimed at the Imperial Gold Cup if he improves. Would be a stone out of the handicap if Celestail Halo or Blue Bajan stand their ground.
Big day for me today as far as AP bets go.
Crack Away Jack better jump as good as they say as Sandown isn’t the easiest jumping course in the world. He wins impressively he’ll be 5/1 6/1 fav knowing those bookies despite it looking a race he should win easily.

That was pleasing although he wasn’t prefect at the railway fences he was clever enough to fiddle them.
No worse a race than anything else has run in so far and 13/2 fav in places is just about what you would expect.
Another couple of easy novice chases and one half decent one before the Arkle would be a perfect prep.
Looking forward to Captain Cee Bee and Cousin Vinny opening their accounts.
Anyone have any word on Osana?
November 8, 2009 at 01:40 #257784Osana out in a beginners tomorrow at Navan Fist. Catch Me goes in the listed novice chase on the same card.
November 8, 2009 at 10:10 #257816Osana takes on 15 at Navan, currently around 6/4 mark. Couple in there that could give ham a race, namely Roberto Goldback and Realt Dubh. Heavy Irish ground might not be to the former Pipe horse’s liking?

Certainly not a horse to rely on at a short price imo
November 8, 2009 at 12:09 #257854Willie talks about his novice chasers.
November 8, 2009 at 16:04 #257900Cheers Barker!
Between Mikael & Kempes Willie has a great chance of Arkle glory imo!
November 8, 2009 at 18:25 #257923Not too sure why Osana was cut for the Arkle as it looked like he was going to get beat running to the last.
November 8, 2009 at 21:13 #257961EOG said they had very little done with him and he’d come on a lot for the run. Bookmakers cutting him are having a laugh though. Fit or not, it was hardly the most authoritive of chasing debuts.

Amazing the difference of opinion. I thought he jumped very well and for the most part like a seasoned chaser. Sure he got tired at the death but the fact he was given a bit of a race won’t have done him any harm. At least we know he can jump under pressure.
The fact is any of the top 6-8 in the betting that puts in a clear round and wins is going to get cut.
November 9, 2009 at 11:45 #258018I’m with you Fist – I thought Osana jumped very capably, and is almost certain to improve for fitness after that.
November 9, 2009 at 20:19 #258064Yeah I would agree. Osana sure to improve and showed he has lost none of his battling qualities.
November 11, 2009 at 17:32 #258244At 50/1 Kempes is overpriced for this race imo. He had no respect for hurdles and Willie Mullins has always said he’ll make up into a better chaser.

Nothing would surprise me with and Willie Mullins horse.
If Thomas Mullins sends Forter’s Cross over on Sunday Tataniano may have an opportunity to prove himself a worthy Arkle contender.
Emma Lavelle has Kangaroo Court’s participation to consider but he is one serious racehorse. The ground will be ideal but the trip could be a bit on the sharp side for him unless it was a very fast pace.
Looks a different horse to last year, travels really well in his races and has taken to fences like a duck to water. If he does run and they do adopt tearaway tactics with Tataniano it might just help him rather than hinder him.
Foster’s Cross seems pretty useful and his form got a boost today when Schelm beat a PN hot pot in Free World today. Race should be well worth watching.

I don’t know that either Free World or Doctor David ran to form at Bangor this afternoon – indeed, Clive Smith didn’t seem overly confident when interviewed on RUK – but Forter’s Cross is clearly useful and should, at the very least, give us an idea as to how good some of the current Arkle protagonists are.
For what it’s worth I’m quite sweet on the chances of
Bergo
. He looked a lovely horse when bolting up on his debut for Evan Williams at Plumpton last season and was perhaps a little unfortunate to lose out to Dee Eee Williams at Ascot on his next start. Three outings and two victories (both at very short prices) later, he made his chasing debut for Gary Moore at Kempton and won as he liked. It wasn’t a great race, but he jumped well, travelled superbly and looked capable of holding his own in much better company.
He’s apparently an intended runner at Cheltenham on Sunday and should, being German bred, be suited by the likely softer ground (though he has raced on predominantly quick ground to date). I’ve backed him for the Arkle at 33/1 in any case.
November 12, 2009 at 20:50 #258413Given that the ground is going to be unsuitably soft just hope Paul Nicholls sees a little sense and doesn’t run Tataniano. There should be plenty of other opportunities before March.

I can’t be sure if Ashkazar doesn’t stay 2m4f or that mistake at the 2nd last took more out of him than it looked to. I would imagine he’ll be dropped back to 2 miles, go back to front running tactic and could yet be an Arkle contender.
