Dave’s Dream made hard enough work of that today but you would imagine he will improve quite a bit for that performance. I’m sure Henderson and co. will be pleased as it was a clear round and another run under his belt.

Track would not have been ideal for Dave’s Dream, he is a burly type of horse and will be better suited to more galloping tracks.

I’m sure he will come on leaps and bounds for this race.

Most horses by Sports Line’s sire prefer quicker ground. It is difficult to guage optimum ground conditions for the Irish horses in general because most of their winter racing is on soft ground. I think Sports Line looked vulnerable early in the straight and then outstayed the opposition. It looked as if he would benefit from stepping up in trip and I don’t think 14/1 for the Arkle is particularly generous even though he looks a progressive horse.

Captain Cee Bee back in action tomorrow at Naas. Has his work cut out first time up over fences against Nicanor, Apt Approach and Zaarito. Track is subject to an early morning inspection.

Reading between the lines, i’d say a clear round is the only priority for captain cee bee tomorrow. Bear in mind this is a horse who likes it good or quicker. His performance in winning the supreme novices on ground softer than ideal was a remarkable performance. I really hope he retains all his abililty. If he jumps well sees out the race okay i’ll definitely be taking an ante post interest. There is a fair chance he could jump well, finish 4th or 5th and be pushed out in the arkle betting. If that happens I’ll be getting seriously involved. Come on the Captain :D

Very excited about the chasing debut of Captain Cee Bee, a very good horse, easy to forget though, that he is an 8 year old now.

A wonderful debut performance from Riverside Theatre at Newbury this afternoon. Another Arkle contender?

If they target the 171-rated Punchestowns at this it may not matter what turns up 8) altho Sizing Europe has always threatened to be a top class novice chaser. Crack Away Jack’s run style puts me off him slightly, coupled with the fact they may switch him to the Champion Chase! One of the top-rated hurdlers will win this imv, as is the norm.

If they target the 171 rated Punchestowns at it I’ll pencil him in for second Big Buck’s and a Henderson 1-2

    Looks a very nice prospect.

Solid novice hurdle form. Finished behind some nice sorts at Aintree before a respectable third to Hurricane Fly in the Champion Novice at Punchestown.

Apparently doesn’t want it too soft, which makes his final start over timber look even better.

Has been restricted to mainly flat tracks – Newbury, Ascot, Kempton – and connections side-stepped Cheltenham last season.

    Any possible reason for this?

I know we keep saying it but what a race this is going to be!

Thought RT looked very good today and the time looks extremely smart. Definite contender

Have to agree on Riverside Theatre.

Looked like an Arkle horse to me. Lady and Co actually looks a decent sort so there’s no surprise there was good money for her but she was destroyed trying to keep tabs on RT.

That has to be in the top 4 Arkle trials seen this season. The way he attacked his fences when she was challenging him was very impressive and the bookies are still offering 16/1  . Got to be worth an EW interest.

Your right mate and it shows you just how good an Arkle this is.

In a normal season you wouldn’t be getting 8/1 about Riverside Theatre.

The commentary yesterday suggested that Lady An Co had ‘smart’ chasing form from France, but on my reading of it, she would be at least 20lbs shy of the likes of Rubi Ball and Long Run, leaving her in the 125-130 bracket ratings-wise.

Riverside Theatre’s performance was very taking, and he was hardly stretched to defeat his rivals, but I wouldn’t read too much into him ‘destroying’ Lady An Co – who remains a maiden over fences, and clearly has limitations.

Spot on Grassy – I was very amused at Nicholls comments that she was very well handicapped. Lady An Co was anything but – Miserable is a decent horse but he’s still at least 16-18lbs shy of Long Run and Rubi Ball, added to a total inability to jump, the race they take the form guide through being his victory in the G3 Congress (fav was tailed and the second in pulled up) and of the top 4yo’s in France (Long Run, Rubi Ball and Cokydal) none of them contested the top 3yo Chase.

Lady An Co’s connections played the game perfectly – a nice placing in a top chase followed by a load of runs and wins in the provinces over hurdles, kept the novice tag for the UK and no doubt sold her for a considerable amount of money.

She’s undoubtedly talented but would agree with Grasshopper that she’s more likely a 125-130 horse than anything better, that and she’s likely to run better when held up IMO.

I was impressed with Riverside Theatre, won it like a 4/5 bet should have won.

I do like the way he travelled yesterday, very keen, strong, and most importantly took lengths out of the field at his fences, something which over the minimum distance at Cheltenham, is a great positive for the horse.

Seems a little quirky at times (which is what i had written in my notes), but always seems to travel well and looks to be giving his all and looks to have a good turn of foot too.

Impressive yesterday, one for the shortlist definately.
