I put Somersby up for the Supreme last year so I wouldn’t want to be too hard on him. Having said that if you are thinking about taking prices for the Arkle I would bear in mind he almost certainly appreciated the ground more than the second, looked a tad clumsy when he met a fence wrong and I guess Nicholls would have the third a little way behind Tataniano.

You would have to think soi but that was the best novice of the season so far and he’s won it well. The ground din’t seem to be suiting CAJ and if anything Noel Feily was a bit too cautious at the railway fences. I’m disappointed with CAJ but not as much as I thought I would be. He was never travelling great on the ground but ran on well…..if he can improve his jumping I would still fancy him but the big question is can he.

Incidentally I believe they were 2 seconds faster than Twist magic

I forecast an Irish whitewash in this event.

Long Run may have plenty of speed, but his jumping was a huge concern at Kempton. The Arkle will be run at a furious gallop and his jumping will be tested like never before at pace, around those stiff fences.

Tataniano clearly has ability, but will need to step up on what he has done thus far. Riverside Theatre has done nothing wrong, but from what I witnessed at Kempton he lacks the scope that many of the leading protagonists possess.

The only horse that can infiltrate the ‘Emerald Army’ is Somersby. I agree that he lacks a potent turn of foot, but he travels, jumps and will stay further. I don’t think his Sandown win is particularly strong, but he done it well and Hen will look after him.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Leopardstown novice event is replicated in March, with Sizing Europe, Captain Cee Bee and Osana thereabouts at the finish.
