In fairness my throwaway comment above was a lazy one- the filly has two wins at the minimum on soft. I’m still not sure it’ll suit her tomorrow though, as she patently fails to stay 6f and 5f tomorrow at cloying Haydock will likely take the same getting as 6f on good.
The reality is that it’s a bit of a lottery which of these will cope with the ground tomorrow. I’ve also taken on board Reet’s comments on Reverence, which have a ring of truth to them and am hedging out a bit to leave him a good winner costing me little.May 23, 2009 at 01:54 #229541In fairness my throwaway comment above was a lazy one- the filly has two wins at the minimum on soft. somewhat contrary statement that he doubts Reverence has the speed for
5f on Soft! I always thought Soft ground slowed horses down! The clock
says so too! Had the ground been fast tomorrow then Reverence would defineately not have the speed to beat Tax Free!May 23, 2009 at 04:04 #229546Just like to put in a word for Rievaulx World.
I’ve seen a lot worse 33/1 e/w shots.
May 23, 2009 at 04:32 #229548Like the look of
Total Gallery
. Bit too keen last time and a drop back in trip should suit. Early pace was slow at Doncaster for the first furlong before lifting around the 2 pole, I think he only just got home at 6f that day but should come on for it and bags of pace in the race to help him settle, has at least shown he handles heavy ground, should pick up some races this season hopefully.
Will be minimum stuff for me, can see some very very tired horses finishing here given the probability of a strongly run affair.

Not very original I’m afraid, but today’s ground and distance should be perfect to give Borderlescott the measure of these.
May 23, 2009 at 12:03 #229571Tax Free has been withdrawn from this afternoon’s betfred.com Temple Stakes at Haydock.
The seven-year-old has been taken out of the race because of the going, which is currently heavy, soft in places.
David Nicholls’ sprinter was prominent in the betting for the Group Two after his third-placed finish in last week’s Duke of York Stakes.
May 23, 2009 at 13:38 #229592What an utterly uninspiring race for a Group 2. Henry Candy must be gutted, he had this at his mercy.
Borderlescott the obvious form choice but you’d want better than 15/8 on heavy ground.
Looks Busy next on form for me but major concerns about trip on heavy ground. Dont be fooled by her win at the Curragh, the ground was better than the official Soft reported that day.
Then your into a moderate form mire with Masta Plasta, Reverence, Hogmaneigh and Total Gallery all closely matched with the first 2 in that list probably most suited to todays conditions. I cant see a hold up horse like Hogmaneigh having a snowballs in todays conditions.
Wi Dud further down would want ground much better than this, Captain Gerrard has lost the plot completely.
Arganil could be interesting, a definite improver on polytrack should be suited by softer ground than he had a York the last day and Ryan Moore an interesting booking.
Take on the market leaders with Reverence 11.5 – Arganil 14.0 and Masta Plasta 20.0
May 23, 2009 at 14:46 #229607Took 25s the other day about Total Gallery, and happy enough with him, but think Arganil is very interesting and may just have a little win bet on him at lower stakes, agree with Cav that he looks likely to improve, and he’s not badly priced at 12s.
May 23, 2009 at 18:15 #229636Look Busy!
What a run!
Completley outpaced in the first 3 furlongs and showed outstanding top speed to steam through on the heavy ground.
Fantastic stuff
May 23, 2009 at 18:16 #229637Looks like everyone will be scouring this thread, checking out who is giving up gambling.
May 23, 2009 at 18:16 #229638Roll call of who’s giving up betting now then?
May 23, 2009 at 18:18 #229639Looks like we’ve lost both Carvillshill and the TAPK.
I reckon there might be someone chuckling about that.
May 23, 2009 at 18:21 #229640On first count I can only see 2 of us that pinpointed Look Busy as a potential winner and that was on the first 2 pages!
To be fair, TAPK did well to pick out a 50/1 shot that ended up going off at 6/1!
May 23, 2009 at 18:36 #229646Can someone shoot me for aftertiming please but I backed her at 25’s and The Rev at 50’s on Monday

Aftertiming aside, you’ll get a bit of jealousy from me

I wish I got the price you did. She was 39s on Betfair when the AP marked took shape in the early part of this week but I’m more than happy with my 8/1
May 23, 2009 at 19:09 #229656Wow Halfway, i thought it was the soft ground that beat Masta Plasta
in Ireland last time! If you want a bit of form to boost your opinion of Look Busy then she did beat Inxile at Ayr last year! She will never beat him again mind!Well done yet again to the Look busy supporters! she certainly had my pants down! Obviously due to popular demand i will refrain from retiring
from gambling as i am the Master! and my knowledge would be sorely
missed!May 23, 2009 at 19:13 #229661Looks like we’ve lost both Carvillshill and the TAPK.

Stick the boot in guys, i have to expect stick when i get it wrong! As my school report used to say "TAPK must try harder"!
