He’s a lovely sort Darren,I backed him last time out in running as he was trading at silly prices when he seemed to be travelling better than ‘Rathvinden’ and he did visually just what you expect from a festival winner. So long as he avoids
Briar Hill
I dont see anything to touch him, both serious horses, both will go novice chasing next year too and one will win the RSA imo.
March 3, 2014 at 19:44 #469874Did you see Art of Payroll win? Paid for 3/4 of ante post bets, shame he won’t get a run at Festival as I’ve got £30 EW at 33s grrrrr
Couple more to look at:
Coral Cup: Dermot Weld doesn’t send many over but when he does they run well so WAHEEB who has run against some decent types could run well at 33s.
Pertemps: Top Wood at 20s looks a nice EW chance.
NH Chase: Midnight Prayer will love the extreme distance and from a yard that does well in this race
Finally I cannot believe 25s is freely available for Carrickboy in the Byrne!!
Well done Gary, keep up the good work, perfect timing for bolstering Cheltenham confidence.

GDC, I also backed Art of Payroll at the weekend – what makes you say he won’t be running?
I’ve also snapped up 25’s on Carrickboy for the Byrne Plate!
March 4, 2014 at 14:44 #469937Sadly he won’t get a run despite the mandatory 5lb penalty – shame though as he would go close
March 4, 2014 at 19:33 #469976Things have gone silky smooth for my Ante-Post portfolio……Until today when I hear there’s a scare surrounding
My Tent or Yours
.I backed this fellow for the Champion hurdle over 400 days ago and 7 days from D-day the alarm bells are ringing! Its a mans game betting Ante-Post! 13/2 on the machine now.
March 4, 2014 at 19:48 #469982His works complete Bob but if that foot gets infected its curtains.Things like this always seem to happen just before Cheltenham but we wont panic…….just yet mate!
March 5, 2014 at 12:31 #470076Phew,!!
Back on his feet and back in the blue. You always say Gord that this Ante Post betting isn’t for the faint hearted, I know what you mean now. When the news first broke about the drift my stomach nearly fell out my bottom. Apart from yesterdays scare I’ve never been more confident about his chances this past 2 weeks if he settles and travels he will burn them for pace up the hill.Blackbeard to conquer the World
March 5, 2014 at 19:35 #470134Grounds coming right for Carrickboy and Same Difference who should both run close
Looking closer to getting a run for Art of Payroll, fingers crossed a couple more drop out

What do we need for an Art of Payroll run mate?

A miracle! He’s currently sat at 71 in the runners index so he’ll need about 40 odd horses to drop out, however his rating of 135 would just about get him in off bottom weight in years gone by and I can see about 30 of the required runners to drop out do just that but I doubt he’ll get in.His 5lb penalty wont help him either.

Fantastic, when I saw a reply I didn’t imagine I’d get any more better news than that! Another Ante Post bet in the bin for me! Did you watch the Betfair Preview tonight, Gord?

If he’s balloted out you’ll get your stake back so it could be worse!
March 5, 2014 at 23:47 #470153I am actually reasonably confident we will get a run now, the Couch stated he was almost certain to get in! Fingers crossed anyway.
