Always a cracker at the entry stage, but it’ll obviously be whittled down a fair bit tomorrow.
The pair I like with my sensible head on, are Il Etait Temps, and Inothewayurthinkin. Think they’re both looking overpriced
The frustrating one right now though is Jungle Boogie. Huge fan of this horse, and I don’t think his Gold Cup run was that bad. Problem I have is that Trainer reported he might not be ready until December. Itching to take that 40’s, but no option to wait until at least tomorrow
Jungle Boogie
November 20, 2024 at 22:59 #1713412Grangeclare West 12-1
Trainer waffling in the stable tour about early season handicaps “like the Coral Gold Cup” (the entries came out before the stable tour- he wasn’t entered) “or the Thyestes” (it’s in January, and anyway Cheveley Park didn’t spend half a mill on him to have him wallowing around Gowran in the muck).
He spanked Corbetts Cross in his beginners then kicked him and Flooring Porter into the middle of next week at Christmas so he deserves to be treated like a good horse. He was initially intended to run in the Feltham, and with Il Etait Temps not right for his prep and Gaelic Warrior presumably going to the Hilly Way, I think he will run here with a view to the King George, particularly since Il Est Francais is currently beating him in the “who can crock themselves” stakes and Fastorslow needs supplemented. Could even go to Leopardstown if he wins on Sunday.
November 21, 2024 at 18:03 #1713446I agree gag, if he can run to his form, id say hes massively over priced, GDC cant win this, its not his bag, FTF still has to do it in open, not to mention his formlines not rock solid, FOS is the likely winner but id have GW about 4/1 in this
November 21, 2024 at 19:49 #1713456Joining you too guys. Inothewayurthinkin is of big interest this season, really like him, but agree on the price for Grangeclare.
Managed to dodge a bullet when Jungle Boogie wasn’t confirmed, so just hope to see Grangeclare confirmed
Edit – Topped up to 18’s
Grangeclare West 18’s EW 3Pls
November 23, 2024 at 18:46 #1713832I’ve topped up as well and backed him for the King George and Gold Cup too. Patrick deigned to “put his hand up to ride him”. I’ll bet he did. Come on, GCW, don’t fall out of bed tomorrow morning!
November 23, 2024 at 18:57 #1713837Fastorslow is a terrible price at 2/1. I won’t be backing GDC either even though 4/1 is quite alright. But, he’s sure to need the run.
I agree with Granceclare West as a good EW bet. Spillane’s Tower is worth a saver at 9/1 considering he is 3 from 3 over fences at the venue. I’ll back both of them.November 23, 2024 at 20:23 #1713850Bloody hell, first time looking at this thread so no ideas in my head. Grangeclare West was the one that stood out to me, at least I can share the misery with the many. 12/1
I kept it pretty simple, the two that have most recently shown ‘comeback’ form are GW and Fastorslow but I didn’t like the fact he’s got a new jock on board in O’Connor as Slevin injured. No offence to the man, he’s a highly skilled jockey but it’s a negative and also he is short enough.
I know the same goes for GW as Townend on GDC but Pat Mullins will know him inside out and the price is very fair.Superb field. Will enjoy whatever the result….probably……maybe.
November 24, 2024 at 08:01 #1713880This is Fastorslow bag and I’ll be surprised if he doesnt win , GDC hasn’t got the pace for this and it maybe the he same for Fact or file , while I’ll play Fastorslow the other that interests at bigger is Journey with me , yard flying and unlike many this is his trip , he’s the each way play
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
November 24, 2024 at 08:50 #1713882Galopin’s price for March might be one to keep an eye on post-race if he does run a bit of a stinker. Reported to have suffered a little bit of a setback in his prep which nearly made him miss this. I can see him getting quite well beaten and there being a bit of an over reaction as this is just a stepping stone in the road. It sounds like Willie is expecting both of his main ones to need this from his Sporting Life column, said he’s not expecting a huge performance from FOF either. I think this will be Fastorslow’s day again but this is much more his bag than Galopin’s and its a tall order for FOF to come out of novice company first time in this deep. Can’t wait for the race with this horrible weather making it unlikely I’ll be doing much else today.
November 24, 2024 at 09:20 #1713884A small e/w wager on
Journey With Me 20s
November 24, 2024 at 09:28 #1713886There are far, far worse ew between than Spillanes Tower.
BlueSky @pghenn.bsky.social
So don't run, just like the others always do
November 24, 2024 at 10:14 #1713894I had to take the 9/2 for Galopin des Champs. The distance isn’t ideal obviously, but the ground is soft and 9/2 is a big price for the highest rated horse of all.
Galopin des Champs 9/2
November 24, 2024 at 12:24 #1713901Money for Galopin Des this morning seems to suggest he’s pretty fit this year. Is the best horse in the race, but I do have doubts about his effectiveness at the trip. The opposite with Fact To File. imo Should be fully effective at the trip, has plenty of pace. But wasn’t spot on for his reappearance last year. I thought he was worth taking a chance on his fitness this morning so made him a main bet. However, has immediately gone for a walk in the market that strongly suggests he’s going to need it again. Managed to LAY some back @ 4/1, but want some more to make him only a saver.
The other two JP horses can’t be ruled out of the Gold Cup market but not sure either is going to be fit enough. Iknow’ probably won’t have the pace either.
My Grand National bet Minella Cocooner just as well stay at home in this company, at least he won’t go up in the handicap. But have (along with most of TRF it seems) backed Grangecare West. His inexperience is a bit of a worry, but that does also mean he’s open to improvement. Also – unlike Mullins other horses – has been really good fresh… And like Wilts, have played Journey With Me. Really ought not to be good enough, but is from the only trainer that can be considered anything like “in good form”.
Have saved on Fastorslow, although as it stands, even his 2m3f form is not as good as his 3m form. But the way he travelled through this race last year suggests he’ll be equally effective at it.So in summary: Grangecare West and Journey With Me main bets. Savers Fact To File and Fastorslow.
Value Is EverythingNovember 24, 2024 at 13:21 #1713905Mullins putting the dampeners on all his runners saying they will need the run.
But it seems half the forum is on Grangeclare West and he gets my money too.
We’re all about to look fools or geniuses….
November 24, 2024 at 13:47 #1713907Fastorslow’s record in Punchestown grade 1’s is 5111. The 5th was when he was a 66-1 no hoper early in his career. So not surprised he is fav.
November 24, 2024 at 13:52 #1713909“We’re all about to look fools or geniuses”
I’m too polite to call people a fool for backing who they want to back in a horse race, however I will be very surprised if this is a ‘genius day’ for you all. ;o)
