Great race, well done winners and there will be more to come from the winner. A few of them surely needed the run, it was a quality race nevertheless.

There wouldn’t have been a surprise if any of these had won, well, most. That was a half decent grade 1. Add a half to that and times by 53.

Great race. Good comebackrun by Galopin des Champs. I thought he had hem covered turning for home, but Fact to File and Spillane Tower showed great speed.

After lacking Gold Cup contenders for a few years JP now has Fact to File, Spillanes Tower, Corbetts Cross, I am Maximus, Inothewayurthinkin and possibly Iroko who all could line up in the Gold Cup.

Happy with that from GDC. Looked to have tired after the last over the short trip (for him), having won the duel with Fastorslow earlier.

Superb race to watch, thoroughly enjoyable. Congratulations to the winner and hope we can have a few more quality clashes in the months to come.

A cracking race. McManus sure has 2 proper GC horses now.

GDC has run really well also and that will leave him perfect for Leopardstown.
Fastorslow was quite disappointing after jumping superbly. I imagine this was a bigger target for him than most of the others so maybe he’s starting to regress.

The quality of that field shows just how dire a state English NH racing is in at the moment.

Might be wise for Willie to consider supplementing Fact To File for the King George. That way he could potentially have both the grade 1 three mile winners over Xmas in England and Ireland :o)

Mike, Gaelic Warrior is the biggest certainty for The King George since the Kauto Star era as long as Fact to File is absent.
I’m on at 12s but agree that they should’ve left in Fact to File also.

Gaelic Warrior did throw in a stinker last season so I wouldn’t call him a certainty. If they see Gaelic as a Champion Chase candidate then perhaps no need for the King George and put Fact To File in looks an ok option.

Great race :good: nice reappearance from the champ and hes got some young competition. They both need to prove they get the Gold Cup trip, could both improve for it of course but for me Galopin is still in the box seat. Regarding the King George and FOF, apparently Willie doesn’t decide where JP’s horses run.

“Apparently Willie doesn’t decide where JP’s horses run”.

Which is how it should be.

I must be missing something here.
Fact To File and Spillane’s Tower quicken past Galopin Des Champs in a 2m3f race.
For sure it is good for the two JP horses, can see why they’ve both shortened for the Gold Cup.
However, GDC is a dual Gold Cup winner, still only 8 (9 come March)… Has just put up a better performance than in last year’s race… And will be a lot better suited by 3m+.
For me – GDC should still be favourite for the Gold Cup.
