Took the 400s+ for Mount Mews ahead of his run tomorrow. Back down to 2m. Should be a very easy win. Could go here, the Neptune or just skip Chelters.
Only just seen this!
From Sky Sports:
Jefferson enjoyed better luck on Doncaster’s Friday card, with the Hemmings-owned Mount Mews justifying odds-on favouritism in some style.
Now a dual winner from three starts over hurdles, he is another who could be in action at Cheltenham in March.
“He’s in good form and he’ll be entered in the Supreme and the Neptune,” said Ruth Jefferson.
“On form he was entitled to do what he did the other day, to be fair. He’s a horse that only does as much as he has to do.
“If he is going to go to Cheltenham I think he’d need another run.
“There are no immediate plans and I’d imagine it will be the end of February or early March before he runs again.
“There’s a race at Kelso at the start of March, which would obviously be close to Cheltenham, but there’s always Aintree.”
January 31, 2017 at 18:12 #1285017I’d be amazed if a Trevor Hemmings owned horse could have enough speed to win a Supreme…
January 31, 2017 at 18:18 #1285019Yeah he’d have a better chance in the Neptune for sure. Would prefer him to go for that.
January 31, 2017 at 18:27 #1285024He’s definitely a chaser in the making so anything he does over hurdles is a bonus.
January 31, 2017 at 18:30 #1285026No doubt
February 2, 2017 at 13:06 #1285297Is Senewalk the forgotten horse here? Clearly had a problem on debut but if they could sort the problem out? I see today that Mullins has entered him. The other unusual entry is Pleasant Company. It must be the first time that a horse has been entered in the Supreme and the Grand National in the same year.

I’ve read that Senewalk had trouble with his breathing and since undergone a wind operation. 33s could look big if it has been sorted out.

Probably not. If they can sort the problem out what? We can all guess he is a worldbeater again? At every turn with these Mullins novices people just won’t give up guessing. Denmark must have plenty of money to waste and talking of plenty of money if he can make one ridiculous entry then chances are he can make two.
February 2, 2017 at 14:07 #1285318My Supreme dark horse is entered on Saturday 3:-D got him at monster prices
Entered, phew! This particular horse put up one of the best novice hurdle performances of the season, and the form has been franked very nicely indeed. Just hoping he runs on Saturday. Should get a nice price for him on Saturday too actually.
February 2, 2017 at 14:08 #1285319Interesting posts Zark. I actually agree that 4/1 is a miserable price for a once raced maiden winner. The price is based on potential and who trains it.
Very interesting and informative posts tho
Thing you have to ask yourself with Melon though is how many schooling races has he run in and won? Rumours say he pissed up in one at Thurles. An average Mullins stable schooling race is probably way more competitive and educational than your typical Irish maiden with two or three triers and 18 out the back hacking around to get a mark. The way Mullins operates nowadays is so different as to make the record books somewhat meaningless. Still don’t disagree that 4/1 is rotten and if you’re not already on much better waiting until the day, you’ll definitely get bigger on the day and no doubt people like Paddy’s/Lads etc will be doing crazy money back offers to try and hook in the once a year punters on the very first race putting money in their PP accounts and not anyone else’s. Probably do money back if Melon wins as well if you fancy taking him on.

The breathing issue which he has had an operation on perhaps?

Too many if’s, but’s and maybe’s about this horse for me. Melon is 4/1 because he is trained by Willie Mullins and not because he won a nothing maiden hurdle in quite impressive fashion. The horse I like is the other Mullins horse, Saturnas. He won the grade 1 Champions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown in gutsy fashion – for those that like watching the clock he was quicker than Hurricane Fly when he won it in 2008 on the same ground. Saturnas is 20/1 and Melon is now as short as 3/1. I know where my money will be going, absolute no brainer

Crack Mome backers can’t be happy about that news.
February 2, 2017 at 15:12 #1285327I’d be careful with Saturnas. He’s stepping up in trip for his next run and his connections have said they’re aiming for a The Neptune. That of course could easily change if Willie decides he’s a Supreme horse.

Just seen this – you are right. Entered Neptune and Albert Bartlett. I have NRNB on Saturnas fortunately.
