Market up for this…..
https://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing/ante-post-racing/flat/betfair-sprint-cup-stakes/winner
No strong view on this right now, and the one I had in mind, Equilateral, isn’t even quoted.
He was very unlucky in The City Walls, and I think he has at least one big run in him this season. That might be The Nunthorpe, or even Champions Day, but he’ll be on my radar for this if gets an entry.
Goes without saying that there are more obvious ones though.
August 3, 2020 at 18:42 #1496234Golden Horde or Hello Youmzain at 6-1 look the most appealing runners at the current prices here, but I just know that I will bet The Tin Man on the day, I always do, even though his best days are probably behind him.
August 4, 2020 at 00:58 #1496260Oxted should win again as long as the ground is decent.
August 4, 2020 at 02:57 #1496261I’d be very keen on Art Power if he were to head here, but I’m not sure enough that he
will to risk a bet at this time, I would imagine that the Nunthorpe would likely be the plan.
If there is any indication that he will head here, I’d bite your hand off for the 10/1
he presently is.Golden Horde looked to have improved when winning the Commonwealth Cup and ran too freely
last time at Ascot in the July Cup where he came home 3rd. He would be of interest if Art Power
doesn’t turn out here. Again it’s too early to say, but I’ll watch out for any move in the market.August 7, 2020 at 18:22 #1496507Brando looks like the forgotten horse here at 25-1, he’s my early ew
August 10, 2020 at 10:26 #1496772I love this race as it usually falls the weekend of my birthday and I used to go when I lived quite close to Haydock.
Hello Youmzain looks a cracking each way bet for this at 6/1 . Two of his best runs have come at Haydock winning this last year and hammering Calyx in a Group 2.
Made up for his below par run in the July Cup with a nice 2nd yesterday in the Prix Maurice de Gheest.
Looks like he will be targeted at this race. Handles any ground. Oxted looks very good but not sure he’d want it soft unlike Hello Youmzain having won this on soft last year.
Will have a small e/w play antepost I think.
August 15, 2020 at 16:43 #1497324There is always a suspicion that oxted had his day also. I agree with HY cracking value abs somehow I managed 10/1 with 888sport on Dod after today
Hello Youmzain 6/1
Dream of Dreams 10/1August 16, 2020 at 17:51 #1497429THE TIN MAN 25/1
Put reasons in other thread i not knew there was one for it
August 16, 2020 at 23:35 #1497462Jeff, agree with the Brando shout. I’ve bet him the last three renewals of this, and bar 2017, he’s acquitted himself well.
I think that 25’s is worth taking just now, as he’ll surely go here, and if he does, he won’t be that price.
I still like the idea of Equilateral, and I’ll add him should he get an entry.
Brando 25’s EW
August 17, 2020 at 13:51 #1497506brando is jocked for Saturday, 22 August, if he ran there would 15 days be too quick turnaround for him?
August 17, 2020 at 14:06 #1497513Would bother me with some horses, but wouldn’t overly concern me with him, as he’s tough enough.
I’d be more concerned with my 0/3 record with him in this lol
August 31, 2020 at 15:02 #149940815 declared today for this, looks a belter of a line-up actually. I’m all over Dream of Dreams now he’s declared. Had 10/1 antepost and more at 9/2. I think this is finally his Group 1 time! For me, he is the best older horse in the race. 3-year-olds do have a good record in this, especially recently, so I may add one later this week after a long look at them.
Hello Youmzain 6/1 (Antepost)
Dream of Dreams 10/1 (Antepost)
Dream of Dreams 9/2 (Added Antepost)August 31, 2020 at 15:42 #1499411Oxted is the best horse in the race for me and needs good ground. High cruising speed and his last furlong is his best. Hello Youmzain likes Haydock and ran a belter last time. Them 2 at 5-1 will do for me.

Can’t have Dream Of Dreams. Connections said he’s best fresh after his last win yet throw him in here. So he may end up fooling everyone and running no sort of race. We shall see.
August 31, 2020 at 16:00 #1499414Mike, i presume you expect the rain not to come? Soft already, and some in the forecast during the week?

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!August 31, 2020 at 16:13 #1499417Sometimes connections and trainers say things that can be ignored. Not saying this is definitely one of those times, but it’s an odd thing to say based on his career. I’m not worried about that comment.
He’s been gelded and stuck up two career best runs in a row, he’s not done that before and quite possibly he is in the best form of his career now. What he did last time out was ridiculous I thought. Wasn’t a great field, but we’re having this conversation quite often…..
Oxted’s had one good run and these sprinters aren’t a vintage crop, winning back to back Group 1s usually means you have a very special sprinter, so I’ll be against him on that basis. Plus as Jack mentions, it’ll be likley soft on Saturday.
August 31, 2020 at 16:13 #1499418Jack, I backed Oxted a while back in the hope it would be dry. There is some light rain due on Wednesday evening and overnight Thursday in the current forecast. Dry until then.
So Thursday 10.30am onwards it will be drying out so dunno what ground we end up on Saturday PM so added Hello Youmzain this morning as he goes on anything.
August 31, 2020 at 16:29 #1499419He won the July Cup with Hello Youmzain back in 5th. Hello Youmzain beat Dream Of Dreams the time before. Form is rock solid. Shame there is some rain forecast otherwise as a certain Matt Chapman likes to say it would’ve been a ‘coming there on the snaff’ job.
