Champ has absolutely no chance in this jumping like that
Jumped terribly all the way round, very careful at his fences like he was on debut
November 29, 2019 at 14:50 #1476083Feel like he only done a few slow jumps after jumping into the back of the loose horse. Jumped well again 2nd half of the race. And isn’t it all the more impressive that he jumped bad and nearly unseated Barry and nearly ran off the course and still won going away over an inadequate trip against a 150+ rated horse in black op who got the run of the race? Clearly there was lots of drama in the race so I’m sure you’ll get some people love to find negatives. But so much went against him there and still won going away and some of the drama was t necessarily self inflicted. For me it’s more indication that the horse is an absolute monster to still win like that. I’m literally blown away by his engine
November 29, 2019 at 14:54 #1476084Won that with alot more in hand than margin suggests, he really shouldnt have won that and in the end it was pretty snug
3 or 4/1 is short for this though just now,
November 29, 2019 at 15:15 #1476086He was losing a length to black op at most fences even before the incident
And jumped the last few poorly too imo, just doesnt look a natural at all
3/1 is a terrible price imo
You cant win an RSA jumping that slowly surely
Horse definitely has gears though so if he can sort out his jumping he will be very hard to beat
November 29, 2019 at 15:26 #1476089Both horse and jockey lucky to be alive.
Barry G really needs to wake up at times, think his jumping was poorer due to Barry taking a tug and slowing him down approaching a fence. I think Cheltenham pace will allow Barry to let go the reigns slightly although the pace today didn’t look too shabby. He’s well named and could turn out to be anythingGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
November 29, 2019 at 16:33 #1476098I agree with that Nathan. Typical Barry schooling ride and definitely held him back before a few fences.
Remember he’s still a bit green / keen but the manner in which he’s finished two of his wins at Newbury is something else.
If they reran that race in March, I reckon he wins by 10
November 29, 2019 at 17:27 #1476110Jumping was not slick, perhaps due to the interference early on, he was shortening all the way down the back straight. Thought he was toast with 2 to jump, but found plenty under pressure, even allowing for Barry not looking where he was going. I’d expect his jumping to improve, and he will be formidable come C’ham
November 29, 2019 at 17:28 #1476112If hes within 5 lengths of battleoverdoyen after jumping the last youd fancy champ to win tbf
But I’m happy with 33/1 on battleoverdoyen at this stage
If champ jumps better next time I’d consider him in some multis, but I’d want to see him getting from A to B much much faster to play at a short price
November 29, 2019 at 18:56 #1476119As a Battleoverdoyen backer I’d say champ has plenty flaws to go at , he,ll not be able to jump as slowly or deliberate at Cheltenham , as for taking 5 lengths of him after the last ….no I don’t see that ….time will tell
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
November 29, 2019 at 23:00 #1476154I really didn’t see it with CHAMP but today i was impressed, Everything went wrong for him, albeit his own doing, But to fly home like that shows a very good animal! I suppose were all taking different interpretations of that race so i can understand the arguments against him. This i do know..flat aint got anything on NH!
November 29, 2019 at 23:05 #1476157Not champs biggest fan yet by any means, but Battleoverdoyen hasnt a prayer of getting near champ or a few others at this point, too slow, reminds me of elegant escape
November 30, 2019 at 02:44 #1476166He may not be as fast champ ….but he,ll jump him into the ground …
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
November 30, 2019 at 17:54 #1476251Did anyone see Carefully Selected today? Seemed to be going well and then made a terrible mistake and almost unseated Townend and then he came back to win well. 25/1 seems a decent price
November 30, 2019 at 22:04 #1476270Carefully Selected – Jumping wasn’t good and needs soft or heavy. I couldn’t have him for this at the moment unless the heavens opened at Cheltenham and his jumping improves and some of the main protaganists don’t turn up.
December 1, 2019 at 12:25 #1476286Thought it was a similar finish to champs race vautour he did well to win from that
December 1, 2019 at 13:00 #1476287He’s obviously been hard to keep sound, but Master Tommytucker is one I like for this.
Looks the part, liked his attitude on Monday, and he looks like 3 miles is what he needs. 33’s is a very fair price at this stage, though haven’t taken it yet.
