True some Champion Bumpers have been stayers but Cousin Vinny seemed to win the race by speed more than stamina. Where as Hurricane Fly looked more about stamina.
So I’d be surprised if Cousin Vinny goes for the Ballymore.

Value Is EverythingNovember 18, 2008 at 21:01 #190473I’d be surprised myself, Mark – just thinking out loud really. It might just give WPM something to think about though, if Hurricane Fly was to win the Royal Bond. Not entirely sure I’d agree with the stamina/speed argument you put forward though.
Bit cryptic that remark about CV, Gigginstown. Care to expand?

Is Hurricane Run fed up with his job as a stallion?

November 18, 2008 at 21:34 #190483Cousin Vinny holds an entry in a maiden hurdle at Navan on Sunday.
Cooldine also holds a few entries over the next week or so in beginners chases. Looks like Willie is going to be stepping it up a gear or so after a disappointing enough start to the season by his high standards.
November 18, 2008 at 22:42 #190499You’ve got those flat champions on your mind, GH!

8 left in for Sunday. Cousin Vinny also holds an entry in the maiden hurdle here on Saturday but its interesting they’ve left him in, especially considering Willie also has Hurricane Fly. Noel has a strong hand as usual with Donnas Palm and Fisher Bridge. He’s won 3 of the last 4 renewals.
November 25, 2008 at 23:46 #192141Tramp Stamp and Vital Plot would be my two against the field, pity there are no odds yet.
Tramp Stamp represents that Sadlers Wells/Top Ville cross that has been successful with Yeats, Montjeu, and in a watered form with Dar Re Mi and Binocular. Looks to be on an upward curve and could turn out to be be much smarter than this. Am tempted to have a little antepost on her for the David Nicholsons Hurdle at 25s before the week is out.
I expect much of this field will find the 2 mile trip to be on the sharp side, even on the ground, andit would surprise me if it is a bit of a slog.
November 26, 2008 at 04:19 #192202If you can get even money dutched about the Mullins and Meade runners you’ll be on to a winner. I can’t see anything else winning.
November 26, 2008 at 22:01 #192420Will be fascinating to see which way Willie jumps with Cousin Vinny. Having had 10-1 for the Supreme I hope he runs in the maiden hurdle but I can see the Royal Bond tempting him- smaller field, better sight of his hurdles…I’d just hate him to have a hard race on bad ground this early in the season.
November 26, 2008 at 23:41 #192446Excellent news – been waiting on word about when Hurricane Fly would be seen back on the track.
Tuesday 17th September 2009 Hexam 2 mile seller.useless piece of turd..not the horse you
Just joking mate he could be anything and like you can’t wait to see him run againNovember 27, 2008 at 04:06 #192498I’ve heard that they’re leaning towards letting Cousin Vinny take his chance in the Royal Bond rather than the maiden on Saturday Carvills.
Hot enough race to be having your first run over hurdles but as you say, the smaller field should help him. Could be a very short price for the Supreme come Sunday night.
November 27, 2008 at 05:44 #192507Can’t see past Hurricane Fly – really does look a genuine top class racehorse, his form given a boost today too
November 27, 2008 at 14:23 #192533Is the ground a worry for Cousin Vinny? All of his known form has been on much quicker surfaces than he’ll encounter at the weekend.
November 27, 2008 at 23:04 #192630Has to be a slight unknown but given his breeding and the way he’s stayed on in his bumpers I reckon he’ll handle it- there was a decent bit of cut in it at Cheltenham when he won.
November 28, 2008 at 20:52 #192898Cousin Vinny declared to run on Sunday with Patrick Mullins riding. Paul Townend will ride Hurricane Fly. Be very interesting to see how they fare in the market.
November 28, 2008 at 21:08 #192904No doubt Cousin Vinny will start fav the way he won the Champion NH Flat Race but I think it’s definately one to watch though……..some very nice sorts and not an easy race and bound to be very short with his Rep. They must think an awful lot of him to run in this first time up.
