July 23, 2010 at 14:09 #308074Hello Nathan…
Apparently Head Office has required Billion to venture into deepest Essex today so perhaps I can answer for him.
I can’t recall a similar approach being suggested on this forum in recent times and I feel it may well have a lot going for it. I like the simplicity of the system….from my experience over several decades the more rules and filters that are applied the less effective and profitable a system becomes.Oh yeah, Billion I wanted to ask you as you know this side of the forum off the back of your hand, has this been done on here before.?

July 23, 2010 at 19:39 #308116Snuck back home without incident, mind you things were a bit dodgy in the South Woodham Ferrers vicinity and had to swerve some incoming missiles from the Basildon direction.
Anyway
Nathan
I have been playing around with a BF system discovered from early archive postings which tends to run a bit "hot & cold" but does indicate BF’s certainly have some validity making them worth following.
The logic behind a BF is that it simply has been well thought of and carried a lot of "someones" money, for whatever reasons. I do believe a previous BF should have had it latest run within a reasonable period but if its previous race was quite a while before there could be a good reason why it has not come back sooner. Perhaps an injury or operation or similar and therefore may not be a genuine the genuine BF we want.
I read quite recently one persons opinion of how long the break should be since the previous run (we have all read how it should not be longer than one month/30 days/ 4 weeks, so is this 28, 30 or 31 days?).
The writer simplified it as anytime going back to the previous month. So here we are 23 July and therefore any date which included June was okay. I liked that but have not used or proved anything.
In answer to your question is simply I do not know, the system I found is a little more complex and as
elcartero
puts it, the simplicity of your system can be the beauty of it.
I tend to trawl the archive when I am looking for inspiration and sometimes it can be a bit mind numbing and not much of it sticks (well with me it don’t).
I will keep watching with interest.

Interested to read about the filters being an obstruction rather than an asset. I’d never thought of them that way.

,
I have tried to locate the original BF system post but so far I have come uo with a big fat zero, sometimes good postings can be found within other threads but I will look again tomorrow.
Anyway if it is of any value the rules are (providing I have not changed any): –
BF in current race
Placed in previous race.
Running again within 30 days (4 weeks).
Must be in the top 4 weights of current race, this does not mean top four of race card.
Must have a previous win at currents race class or better.
Although this has no bearing on your exsisting system it may help you should you decide to develop it further at any time.

July 26, 2010 at 12:04 #308819I think the constructive posting from
BAGNALLC
can be as a big help, insomuch as should the idea start to nosedive it will not be a surprise.
Also it offers the chance to build upon what is already there and is a good idea.
May I make just one suggestion
Nathan
, many quick returns i.e. 7 days are soon re-adjusted to an even quicker return. It may be a help whilst submitting your post to also note the days up to and including the 7.
I do not see much difference between a winner LTO and a BF LTO, after all the BF was expected to win and there are quite a few systems out there which follow winners LTO giving various time targets up to 7 days.

The stats from bagnallc and the 8 losers in a row have got me thinking to look for a different approach. I agree with Billion in that a winner returning quickly could figure in the selection process.
I was thinking along the lines of
#Winner or bf running again within 7 days
#Forecast fav from ATRwebsite (easier for me than news paper)Any thoughts?
