Hehe…i certainly did would not make that mistake
June 14, 2011 at 15:20 #360700Ruby, I agree that putting up 2lbs overweight isn’t ideal but it’s not affected the result. Canford won as he liked.
June 14, 2011 at 15:22 #360702I agree that Canford Cliffs was the better horse today however a true great does like Goldikova does not need the Jockey carrying 2lb extra than she should and the weight sex scale.
A disgrace and Pesiler can go FOOOKKK OFF now IMO.
June 14, 2011 at 15:29 #360709Delighted with today’s result. So pleased connections of both Canford and Goldikova kept these horses in training so we can enjoy races like today.
Can not wait for Goldikova to win….
Its going to be immense looking at all the egg on people’s faces.

Stop whining Ruby, you will be 2 overweight with all that egg on your face…….

Can’t see him running personally, PC.
He’s basically a 12f horse who took advantage of the rain-softened ground to lead all the way at a a strong pace to win his Irish Champion, and he showed at Meydan that even 10f is too sharp for him when not ridden aggressively.
If he were to run, it would guarantee a strong pace, but hardly likely to be strong enough to burn off the big 2, imo.The above a reference to Cape Blanco, whom I hadn’t appreciated until after the race – coutesy of Aussie Jim – is connected (through Coolmore) to Canford Cliffs.
Clearly, CB was entered and run as pacemaker for CC, which, while no problem for those in the know, is as clear a case as you’ll see. of a horse not being run on its merits.
God help all those who made him 3rd favourite today, as the racing authorities clearly won’t.June 14, 2011 at 23:52 #360830I don’t know how you blokes can go overboard on a favourite like Goldikova, when the second favourite is so brilliant, young and likely still improving.
Where do you put your bets on Grimes, please tell?
Not much in it but..
The second favourite is the favourite other than at Stan James and Paddy’s where they are joint favourites……….

I’m not saying anything, Nathan….
2/1 the forecast. Mind you I did’t realise I’d won it, as the commentator seemed more interested in the effort of the third at the finish.
June 15, 2011 at 08:35 #360855Well done Grimes. I was a bit of the thinking in the build up to the race that Goldikova had question marks about moving on another year older but it’s clear to me she has retained her ability as the pair of them extended clear of the third at the point it looked like Cityscape was about to put in a huge challenge. Goldikova will have a cracking chance of a 4th Breeders in the Mile and I don’t think She will clash there with Canford either as I reckon he will go for the Classic….
