Awesome, majestic and sublime, what a superb ride from Mr Hughes (bet my 8s for top jockey have gone now LOL).
CC had the lady covered for the whole race, what a race horse he is
and what an awesome start to the Ascot festivalJune 14, 2011 at 13:38 #360644Great race. Both not at their best and both being very conservative on their mounts towards the end. I’d love to see a rematch later in the season, perhaps at the Breeders’ Cup Mile? Goldi’s target’s always been that and will be at her very best then.
June 14, 2011 at 13:39 #360645Get in Canford!!

Fabulous race, what a run by Cityscape!
June 14, 2011 at 13:39 #360647Worked out similarly to how many of us imagined. Thought there might’ve been more of a space to Cityscape though, especially since it was Good-rated ground. He was a good chance for 3rd regardless as mentioned but what a race he ran.
June 14, 2011 at 13:44 #360650What a disappointment that was…she didn’t seem to really quicken at all. Just was outstayed galloping at the same pace.
I struggling to work it out in my head but CC was the best horse on the day and won.
Hughsie intimdated the filly….sending the whip in very direction and carrying her over to the near side rail. Trying to Bully her. The french will be out for blood in the rematch in France…the "boys" won’t allow Hughsie such a easy time next time.

When you look at the side-on replay, just look how much the front 2 have left in them. Absolutely buckets. Moore’s got no reign left and he’s still going backwards. The front 2 are exceptional.
June 14, 2011 at 13:52 #360653On another note putting overweight in a Group 1 is disgraceful especially since you can ride 8-8
June 14, 2011 at 13:53 #360654Is Canford Cliffs a great Miler now??
I still take Frankel to beat him…maybe he has the beating of Goldi but he can’t beat Frankel can he??
Hughsie?? beating Frankel
June 14, 2011 at 13:54 #360655Great race and time on clock excellent. In terms of speed officados out there be v v interested to see how you rated it in terms of a figure
Really enjoyable race to watch in terms of how everything panned out. Agree a bit with you Ruby re goldi but to me seemed to emplty in last 50 yards. 1 furlomg out it looked for a fraction of seconmd and only fraction that CC could be in bit of trouble
Also talking through my pocket fab result for me. Grabbed some 13/8 with SJ just after 11 on top of 6/4 taken with B365 earlier. Had my biggest bet for quite a while. Betting with the bookies money now for rest of meeting
Anyway Roll on Goodwood for CC v Frankel presuming all goes well later for the latter.

June 14, 2011 at 13:56 #360658The most surprising news to emerge from this race is that, according to Matt Chapman, Canford Cliffs was being offered at 11/2 in running on Betfair.

Surely even the biggest betting novice in the world can read a race better than that. What a mug !

Canford Cliffs was cruising throughout and won in the manner as I foretold.

June 14, 2011 at 13:59 #360661Goldi was travelling well and Hughsie was looking more urgent than Pesiler in the saddle but with the gear he had 3/1 at highest in running but 11/2 is a bit amateurish.

Exactly.
The proximity of Cityscape and, to a lesser degree, Rio de la Plata, holds down the form somewhat and there can be little doubt that neither of the front two has run to its best mark; either that, or Cityscape has improved the best part of a stone on all known form. Canford just had the better turn of foot today; let’s see what happens in the Breeders’ Cup, when Goldikova will hopefully be at her absolute peak.
June 14, 2011 at 14:39 #360681Pesiler was actually 2lb overweight.
A disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!……what a disgrace that man is. 2lb??….Goldikova doesn’t deserve to be treated with such disdain by her Jockey.
Pesiler you mug!! just like a mug you where with Galikova on Sunday and a even bigger Mug when you got beat on Goldikova in the Prix De Foret on Arc Weekend with your braid dead ways a few years ago.
Never will back that man again…a disgrace!
June 14, 2011 at 14:43 #360682All jockey’s make mistakes. Obviously being 2lbs overweight is nothing short of embarrassing for Peslier but there’s little doubt in my mind anyway that he ranks among the best jockeys in Europe.
June 14, 2011 at 14:47 #360683I can’t believe that a man that could ride 8-8 was 2lb overweight on the Greatest Mare Europe prob has ever seen
June 14, 2011 at 14:54 #360688I take it you’ve never heard of Zarkava Ruby?
June 14, 2011 at 14:57 #360690I only raced as a filly. Neigh.
