Nabbed on the line in the last at 8/1
Typical.
Me too, but look at the Jessica Harrington stable form!!!
0 for 45 – last winner on March 30th at 50/1 on the Flat….
April 24, 2018 at 19:35 #1351821Totally tongue in cheek:
Im sure the jockey can afford an expensive 21 day holiday having been paid to throw that race.
He’ll take a Ryanair flight to a secret destination….
April 24, 2018 at 19:39 #1351823Townend was looking around as if to say where are they, how come I’m in front and as he looks around he probably sees Finians Oscar and the horse behind FO who were both on the inner and perhaps thought they were going to bypass the fence, that’s all I can think of.
When watching live I thought the horse had even took him off track or that Townend was looking for company but if that were the case he would have waited until after the last
crazy
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
April 24, 2018 at 19:41 #1351824Nathan, the HT draw looks nailed on today, doesn’t it?
April 24, 2018 at 19:42 #1351825Oh be Jesus!! What the **** from Townend! Massively talking through my pocket as that ‘brain freeze’ cost me big time but, he’s had a nightmare there.
I’m at the laughing so I don’t cry stage.
April 24, 2018 at 19:45 #1351827Must have thought he’d somehow taken the wrong course
April 24, 2018 at 19:53 #1351828Haven’t a baldy what happened there. When he gets up his head is in his hands, so either way he knows its a cock up! Possible he thought ABP went wrong?
Shattered Love one race too many i suspect!

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!April 24, 2018 at 19:55 #1351829The other more unrealistic explanation could be that Townend was so frustrated for having to ride Douvan (after Patrick told him he’d won at Cheltenham) so he decided to throw the race and the Championship away.
It’s too crazy I know, but besides the “wrong course” excuse there is no other plausible one.
April 24, 2018 at 20:00 #1351831So disappointed as Finian’s Oscar had run so well to that point and was set to take it, I’m just thankful both the horses have come out of it unscathed because that was a pathetic ride from Townend, Father Ted could have ridden it better..
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 24, 2018 at 20:12 #1351833Never seen anything like it, what a bollocking mullins will have thrown his way, absolute nightmare in terms of the title race
April 24, 2018 at 20:13 #1351834PP refunding (as a free bet) singles on BOTH Al Boum Photo and Finians Oscar on the race.
April 24, 2018 at 20:14 #1351836What a weird race. A lot of unlucky runners due to that, also Invitation Only who was taken out just a fence earlier by Monalee.
Also a gutsy performance by Un des Sceaux, keeps coming back for more, impressive. Douvan had every chance, cant see him be a challenger for Altior.
April 24, 2018 at 20:49 #1351841Was FO certain to take it? i actually thought it was in the balance…for all there’s not much point debating it now!

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!April 24, 2018 at 21:10 #1351842At first watch it looked like Al Boum Photo was going to win if he jumped the last which makes it worse for the jockey.
April 24, 2018 at 21:45 #1351846Just when you think you’ve seen everything in racing!!
I take it there’s been no explanation from Townend?
He can’t have thought he was on the wrong course but I’m struggling to think of any reason for standing up in the saddle, looking round and then veering violently to the right.
Bizarre!!
April 24, 2018 at 21:53 #1351848I bet Finians Oscar, but Al Boum Photo surely had the race won, which makes it all the more bizarre.
There has to be a reason, but i’m struggling to see one.
April 24, 2018 at 21:56 #1351849Shows you the pressure even the best are under in these races, 1 second brain freeze and whallop, nearly a series of catastrophic events followed,
Big race, big day, top jockey, big mistake, i hope for his sake, he can move on tomorrow.
