Perhaps time to wonder about the bbc forecasting here? Was it objective ???
Metoffice had London max 37 and that’s what it’s been. In west end today and quiet apart from tourists who seem unbothered by it all
Could quite happily of cycled a while in this
July 18, 2022 at 15:50 #1607566Now 35 degrees here in Hampshire and probably peak temperature for the day.
Worksop is the real hot spot apparently.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"July 18, 2022 at 16:07 #1607568Do wonder if there’s an element of BBC and others covering their arses a bit. If they tell everyone they are all going to die and actually it’s not that bad then they won’t get in trouble. If they say ‘it’ll be a bit hot but you’ll be fine’ and people start keeling over it’ll be blame the BBC time again.

Said nobody. Ever.
July 18, 2022 at 16:20 #160757334° here in the North West. I went out for a short while and it was absolutely fine – and I say that as someone who does not particularly like very hot weather.
Agree the reports said “could” rather than “will” die in their thousands – but I still maintain that is scaremongering. Who seriously thinks that will happen?
We have had hot weather before and no such thing has happened and these temperatures would be considered normal in some parts of Europe. I don’t believe people there die from the heat in their thousands every summer.
July 18, 2022 at 16:36 #1607577Maybe you should do a quick Google search, CAS. There were well over a thousand excess deaths in 2019, the last time we had such high temperatures in the UK.
July 18, 2022 at 16:40 #1607578It certainly would contribute to those already on their way out.

The map’s all red. As obvious a case of Labour bias as you’re ever likely to see.
Hanging’s too good for that Sarah Keith-Lucas.
July 18, 2022 at 17:12 #1607583And you know for a fact they were all directly because of the heat? Did their death certificates say that?
How old were these people? Did they have any serious health conditions? Over what time period were these deaths recorded?
It looks rather like the situation with Covid. Average age of death 83, usually with one or more serious pre-existing health condition. But it was definitely Covid that killed them.
1,600 people on average die in the UK every day.
July 18, 2022 at 17:15 #1607586I don’t know. 🤷♂️
Like I said, Google it if you care that much.
July 18, 2022 at 17:16 #1607587Still 35 degrees here, but two can of cold Cherryade are helping….

Soaked up the sun earlier for about a minute and sat in the shade for 20 minutes. More than enough for me

DO NOT PUT YOUR HEAD ON THE RAILWAY LINE BECAUSE IT IS DANGEROUS
Mind you imagine doing on a strike day. Lying there like a complete c*** for hours thinking “where’s this bloody train”
July 18, 2022 at 17:31 #1607595You don’t know but you asserted it as fact earlier. OK.
I can’t help feeling a lot more people will die of the cold in the winter thanks to our insane energy policy, which will be made worse in the future when efficient gas boilers are banned and replaced with useless heat pumps.
July 18, 2022 at 17:32 #1607597“inside my sealed, dark house”
This was the smart move – I opened all the windows, including the French window, and got just the briefest light breeze by way of compensation for ushering in the furnace.
