February 12, 2015 at 09:43 #505189Grand National
Going to do my usual, and have plenty bet for The National…..with the usual intention of greening off. As my Trustan Times bet wasn’t on Betfair, it should make it possible, if I do manage to do it, I’ll just conveniently forget I bet him <!– s:wink: –>
<!– s:wink: –>As for an actual fancy, and with the non entry of Trustan, it’s the first time since 1991, that I haven’t had a long term fancy for the race. At a push, just now, I’d maybe sway towards Cause of Causes, Owega Star, and Sunnyhill Boy.
Night In Milan
, and Wyck Hill
look pretty solid, but they’ve never been a price that would appeal to me on Betfair. That would certainly apply also to Shutthefrontdoor
.Cause Of Causes 130’s
Owega Star 190’sAlderwood 330’s to 340’s
Baileys Concerto 250’s
Broadway Buffalo 580’s to 600’s
Burton Port 110’s to 130’s
Ely Brown 160’s to 280’s
Make A Track 260’s to 270’s
My Murphy 260’s
Renard 150’s to 290’s
The Package 400’s to 420’s
Vintage Star 280’s to 310’sFebruary 13, 2015 at 15:00 #750743I’ve went for Ballyoliver, and Lie Forrit in The Betfred Grand National Trial at Haydock tomorrow.
……….Ballyoliver. I had a few quid on him at Warwick last time, but after looking like he might get involved at one stage, it never really materialised, and in the end, he was well beaten. He seems a tad temperamental, and after an impressive win at Carlisle in November, he didn’t look too interested next time, at Cheltenham. He’s risky then, but with connections apparently keen for him to get in at Aintree, then he looks worth that risk at 25’s, as off of 131, he’s no chance of getting in there otherwise. Only a few pounds higher now than that day at Carlisle, if in the same mood, I could see him going close, and I’ve had a few quid at the 25’s.
My other main fancy at this stage would be Lie Forrit, who’s available at a very tempting 16’s. He’s came back this season in excellent form, and he looks, if it’s possible at 11, that there’s more improvement to come. Up 11 lbs since the start of the season, but it doesn’t look too harsh, considering the form he’s in. This would also appear to be the main target, with no Aintree or Eider entries to confuse things, and for a yard who have landed this twice, then he looks rock solid each way to me at the 16’s.
Hopefully get a run for my money from those 2 at 25’s and 16’s respectively.
I’ve also had a “fun” bet on Rigadin De Beachene @ 10’s tomorrow, along with Wyck Hill @ 12’s in The Eider, and Bally Legend @ 20’s in The Betbright Chase next week. They all won those races last year, and hopefully, although a big ask, I should get a run for my money
February 15, 2015 at 18:26 #751056Cole Harden has had a breathing op so my ante post on him might not be completely wasted
Little grandaughter was born on Friday so I can now concentrate on Cheltenham [and breathe….]February 17, 2015 at 18:18 #751258Any thoughts on eidur i not seen field yet
February 17, 2015 at 19:03 #751268Not made my mind up yet Darren, though I did waste a few quid on Ballypatrick last week. It’s easily the best looking Eider field for years, and I’ve got 6 or 7 on the shortlist.
I still think Wyck Hill can defy the weight, and I’ve bet him in a double with Bally Legend in The Betbright, both winners of the 2 races last year (had done a treble as well with Rigadin De Beauchene).
There’s an outsider down the bottom I like the look of, Everaard, at 40’s, but I’ve still got a bit more studying to do.
February 20, 2015 at 11:18 #751538FOX APPEAL and SHOTGUN PADDY my big races bets tomorrow
February 20, 2015 at 11:26 #751541Just got in there ahead of me Darren, just added to your Eider Thread.
I’ve got my Antepost double on Bally Legend, and Summery Justice, and hopefully get a bit of fun out of that one.
February 22, 2015 at 22:15 #751943I’m sure that Des kept calling The Lobster Catcher The Oyster Catcher till later on in the race. [Like commentators having people telling them which horses they’ve missed in [pl] during the race these days.]Oops; think I pressed the wrong button somewhere and lost most of that sentence….a Des’ism no less; what I meant to say was he probably has a spotter these days to whisper in his ear when he makes one of his customary faux pas….

February 28, 2015 at 17:11 #767213Wayward Bloomin’ Prince [sob]….Good run from NIM though!
February 28, 2015 at 21:50 #769753Can’t believe neither of us had a bean on him moe, typical. Pleased for the old horse though, after that ride given to him in The National last year.
I wasn’t that chuffed with Night In Milan moe, and I think he might end up in The Topham now, but you never know.
March 3, 2015 at 16:55 #781467Rare trip to the bookies to back Emma Wotsit in the 3.30. Thankfully added Coolking at the last minute but only got 7/1. Wanted to put a few ante post bets on anyway so it wasn’t a completely wasted trip.
