All ew’s Monksland, Cole Harden, Arctic Fire [old bets]. Today Petite Parisienne, Sam Winner and the Hobbs bumper horse [following Saint des Saints progeny this year]. Going into Cheltenham almost blind so cramming lots of comments from preview nights. It’s ours on Thursday [but they weren’t much good last year I’m afraid]. Cole Harden has had a breathing op and it looks as if I’m finally going to get a run for my money from Monksland. Going to spend the money I would have spent going to Cheltenham [still can’t believe I’m not going, though].
March 4, 2015 at 14:48 #788869Good luck with those Moe, especially Sam Winner

I’m going to the Festival Preview in Hamilton on Friday moe, I’ll keep you updated, though I’m sure I can guess how it’ll go…………too much time spent discussing Day 1, and no more chance of a decent tip from the panel, than there is from the people behind the bar.
It’ll still be a good night though.
March 11, 2015 at 18:11 #825594Having a stinker of a Cheltenham VtC but seem to get bailed out in the last race of the day; Irish Cavalier yesterday and ew’s on Wait for Me and Modus today. Just about breaking even I think.
March 12, 2015 at 10:16 #827683Bad week so for me am sure VALSUER LIDO 16/1 Can come to rescue how you done bob any thoughts on my bets today.I forget to add Knight of noir and Big easy to bets too
March 12, 2015 at 12:42 #827872Cause of Causes paid for the week, had him at 25’s Antepost, and The Job is Right, and Thomas Crapper getting placed were very welcome. So nothing spectacular taking Ante-Posts into account, but decent week so far nonetheless.
Day 1, only bet Alvisio Ville, and Lost Legend on the day, never sighted.
Day 2. I don’t like Day 2, with only The RSA, and The Coral Cup of interest to me. I bet Bears Affair, Bellshill, and Quantitativeeasing yesterday, and though Quantitativeeasing would have won, you take it on the chin betting in that race.Moe, hopefully your week can improve today and tomorrow, if you’re still breaking even, that’s no bad thing. I liked the look of Modus yesterday, and he nearly made it a 4 horse Trifecta in the bumper. Although it would have been a sore one for me if he had won, I’ll be keeping a close eye on him for sure.
Darren, Valseur Lido looks a seriously forgotten horse, and you’re right, he’s a serious price, some each way bet that. I love Big Easy, and Knight of Noir looks a Pipe “special”………very bet of luck today.
I spent the Wednesday in Hospital last year, cause my mum had been in a car crash (she was ok). I spent the Morning phoning round bookies betting Holywell for this years Gold Cup, and spent the afternoon trying to post on here, was hard going as the network coverage was brutal. Well, on Tuesday night, my remaining kidney stone reared it’s ugly head, and I faced another Wedensday in hospital this year
I started trying to bet, and post on here, and the coverage was again brutal…….doc gave me the option of leaving yesterday morning, or staying overnight last night, no contest, I was home for the racing
Out drinking today for the best day of The Festival (for me). I’ve got my sensible Mug 63 on, and I’ll have a good few outsiders permed, I just love this day. Miles better than The Wednesday (again, for me).Moe, Darren…….I hope you have plenty of pounds in your pockets tonight, win or lose, I’ll enjoy my day out haha
March 12, 2015 at 15:55 #828538If only AFC had got into third as well! I’m so pleased for the horse. He was amazing at Wetherby and I was so hopeful when I heard about his wind op. Also backed Uxizandre [first time headgear and Festival form] so my week is getting better. For once McCoy is my best pal; he was never going to let that horse stop! Free Corals bet on Monetaire in the next. As with Mon Mome when he won the National, Cole Harden was my first Cheltenham ante post bet; I should probably have stuck to that. Good luck with the rest of the day VtC. Met Garrahalish’s owners last week so backed him later. C’mon the small trainers!!![and the small punters I should add; and they don’t come much smaller than me!]
March 13, 2015 at 14:01 #830873Just brilliant Moe, what a day for you, with UXZ as well. The minute Cole Harden crossed the line, I though of yourself…….and I raised you a good few Jack Daniels for you yesterday

Your good luck wishes kind of did the trick, as we had a “pub wide” gamble on The Package in the last, big relief for me all round.

March 13, 2015 at 18:47 #831093Bad day today, other than Martello Tower who, again, was an earlier bet [couple of weeks ago]. Missed The Package [third at the Festival last year and first time headgear] and the Foxhunters winner today [again, placed last year and I didn’t spot it]. @ 19 horses that placed last year were placed again Uxizandre and The Package both being first time headgear horses. If I’m going to stick to systems I need to be more thorough. Going to take out a Corals top up card so I can have small bets without going to the bookies [can’t trust myself with a credit account] so I’ll have a bit of fun with that. I keep missing all the daily deals [eg At Fishers Cross who I backed 33/1 ante post only to find L’s were paying out first 4 on the day]. Annoyingly have lost a betting slip with Barizan on from earlier in the week as he didn’t run and I may get my stake money back [although think he may have been USO]. Overall profit [don’t laugh]@ £14. Glad you were on The Package; it eases the pain of missing him out. Almost tempted to go to Uttoxeter tomorrow but off to Kelso next Saturday. Good luck while I’m away!
March 14, 2015 at 15:43 #832798Moe, I ended up losing on the week, so I’d take that £14 profit right now haha. Same as my losing Festival 2 years ago, damage was done with my Ante-Post total, though to be fair to myself I’d never intended to go green on my Gold Cup Book, as the amount I’d put on three outsiders meant that was always going to be impossible. I had 7 running for a 4 figure return in The Gold Cup, and before the race I stuck a fiver each on Many Clouds, and Coneygree, just to soften the blow………….. Coneygree holding off Djakadam did not soften the blow
Some performance from Coneygree though, I’ll watch it back in a couple of days, and I’ll appreciate it more once the dust has settled.I’ll not do as much Ante-Post next year, as it looks like we’re finally going back to a classier era for The Gold Cup, with less scope, or much point, in digging out big priced runners. The only certainty is that next years Gold Cup will be miles away from the “poor” renewals of 2012 to 2014.
Another way I’ll save cash next year is to wait until nearer the time for my handicap bets, probably until decs time. Nice to get some money back on Thomas Crapper, and Eastlake……but that’s quickly diluted by those that don’t make it. I saved plenty this year by not doing my usual Mug 31’s 63’s etc, so I’ll swerve the long term handicap bets as well.
Despite being a loser overall, really enjoyed watching half of the races without a bet. If betting for the sake of it on The JLT (not counting my Pub Lucky 63
) I’d have went for Apache Stronghold, or Splash of Ginge, but it was just great to sit back and enjoy Vautour without a financial worry…………..performance of the week, not up for debate, he was amazing.Unlucky with AFC, but great pick for Martello Tower…….I didn’t have a bet in The AB, was a great finish. I had some bad luck myself on The Friday, with 3 agonising seconds including Djakadam. I had my Antepost on Eastlake at 25’s, and also 27’s on Betfair, and I also had a few quid on Noble Endeavour in The Conditionals. Noble Endeavour should have won, but Kilultagh Vic just robbed him………….and as it’s got his own thread, I’ll try not to pocket talk, but really, that was an armpit of a ride from Carberry on Eastlake, impossible to defend. He cost Ned Buntline the same race last year with his theatrics, why does he do it
Though I’m hoping I’m eating my words in the next with him on board Raz De Maree, come on Paul my son haha. Still, pocket talking is not my thing, and loads of good performances to remember………….roll on next year
The Top Up Card sounds a plan, and you can keep following that Festival Form…….always something I bear in mind, gutted I missed Uxizandre though……………….but what a ride

I hope you made it to Uttoxeter today, no harm in fitting in Kelso and Uttoxeter in the one week.
March 14, 2015 at 16:30 #832872Do you know what’s happening with My Murphy with the Thyestes form being franked so convincingly? Lost my National ante post on him and he doesn’t seem to be entered anywhere [hope he’s not injured]. First time visor would have thrown up Barafundle today [20/1]. Looking at the W Hill betting for Cheltenham that Steve printed off for our meeting, pretty much all of the winners were first three in the betting a week before the Festival. And a Cheltenham website that I’d been looking at prior to this week threw up most of the handicap winners as well. The horse that won the last handicap had been placed last year and, again, I missed him. Must try harder!! And concentrate. I don’t mind losing but I hate losing a winner that was staring me in the face.
March 20, 2015 at 18:18 #848634Mate just open thread on flat horses for 2015 any thoughts on it
March 24, 2015 at 11:05 #865271Moe, all seems well with My Murphy. He’s entered for The Irish National, and he’s a 20-1 shot at the moment.
April 9, 2015 at 12:35 #877305Best of luck VtC , love having a go at the forecast meself , might pop a thread up
April 10, 2015 at 12:40 #879223Thanks Dibble, average stuff yesterday, but got a few quid back off Last Time D’albain, which made a big difference.
Good luck to you today
April 10, 2015 at 20:16 #879916Well done with Rajdhani Express today VTC, just read your preview on the Aintree section

I was all over Alpha Des Obeaux today at 18/1 (before Minella Rocco came out) so am feeling decidedly sorry for myself, think he was far from done with, he stays all day, although the C4 crew seemed to think it was all over. On the bright side, I won’t look any further for next year’s National Hunt Chase winner
April 10, 2015 at 20:43 #879945I was on Alpha Des Obeaux aswell Tommy and Arctic Fire.
Probably why I prefer the flat…….
Good shout with Raj Express Vtc. Hunt Ball ran a good race in defeat to.
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
April 10, 2015 at 23:00 #880082Thanks Nathan, not the best race for me The Topham, but getting the 1st and 4th was very welcome. Just hope I’ve not used up my luck over the big fences.
I fear the worst anyway, as they’ve put Paul bloody Carberry up on Cause of Causes, he’s beat before he starts with him riding him, what on earth are they playing at?
