Well, Honest Vic was a washout, while at least I called Sam Spinner right. He looks nowhere near over his setback, and the excuse for his poor show in The Charlie Hall looks even dafter now.
Much better in the other two races, with the 1425 breaking even. San Benedeto was a fair old bet, and I comfortably got that back in running.
Lil Rockerfella broke my heart in the last. I got 25’s, and although I made a very decent profit in running, I’d really really liked to have had the win obviously. Bittersweet that one.
November 28, 2020 at 00:04 #1512359Main hope Saturday is Beware The Bear in the big one, The Ladbroke Trophy. Has ran well in this before, and though not waited to necessarily improve spades, I’m hopeful of a decent run, and he’s a decent sized bet. Got him to 5 places, and may take 6 pls as back up.
I bet Mister Malarky, but cooled on him a little, and I couldn’t cash out. Once Regal Encore declared, I just couldn’t desert him, but he’s a much smaller bet. He’s been very good to me. I’ll lay off Malarky if I can.
In the supporting card, I really like the prospect of Champagne Platinum this year, after he fair caught the eye in The Kim Muir. Could see him winning later in the year, with tomorrow maybe not the day, but he’s a fair price.
I’m tempted by Brelan D’As as well on the card, but his run at Cheltenham was a concern.
I haven’t made my mind up in The Rehearsal at Newcastle. I’ve decided to bet Takingrisks, but I’m equally keen on Shantou Village and Cool Mix, so not sure how to play it yet. The only certainty is that I’ll be covering Yorkhill for Sandy. What a combo that’s going to be, though just sentimental selection right now.
At Fairyhouse, very interested to see how At The Acorn gets on, and Timoteo is a horse I’m very interested in this year too. Acorn is a big Notebook horse this year, and sane might just apply to Timoteo. As it is, not made up my mind, and only horse I’ll definitely be with in Ireland is Mc Alpine at a big price.
1350 Newbury – Champagne Platinum
1446 Fairyhouse – Mc Alpine EW
Ladbroke Trophy – Beware The Bear 33’s EW
Ladbroke Trophy – Regal Encore 60’s
Ladbroke Trophy – Mister Malarky 25’s EW
Rehearsal – Takingrisks/YorkhillNovember 28, 2020 at 14:07 #1512445Great thread as usual. Some crazy winners again I see, good stuff Bob. If Yorkhill wins I’ll buy you one of those Roast Hog Rolls if you make it to Perth next year
November 28, 2020 at 14:54 #1512461Cheers Mark, been unreal mate. If he wins I’ll be buying
Ladbroke Trophy
Beware The Bear, Regal Encore, Mister Malarky
20p Combination Forecasts and Tricasts-£154.40
November 28, 2020 at 23:35 #1512521The Roast Hog is on me Mark lol. Seriously, got 90’s on the exchange, and that was a mad buzz at the end. What a combo that is, over the moon
I’ll probably never bet him again, but gotta love Beware The Bear. As I’d said earlier, my first proper big Antepost of this NH Season, and he did me proud getting fifth.
Mc Alpine made me a nice profit too in running, while Takingrisks was a late EW, rather than win, as he unbelievably hit 50’s before the off.
I wasn’t mad keen on Champagne Platinum today, but I was happy enough with what I saw.
Profit on three out of four races today, so will definitely play Sunday.
November 29, 2020 at 10:53 #1512541Some seriously good racing at Fairyhouse today, and I’ll play in a few of them.
In the opener, Fiveaftermidnight was too big at 20’s, especially with four places on offer. I had to take that. On her day she’s good, and it’s a case of “right time, right place with her”. Only ever bet her when she’s a price.
The Porterstown is a cracker. I think the six places makes a difference here, and I can’t think of a reason to desert Scoir Mear on that basis, I think he’ll relish the trip.
The big Handicap Hurdle is equally puzzling, and Campeador is in a similar vein to Scoir Mear, with six places a massive draw. I’ll do an EW Double that pair definitely. I’m looking for one to go with him, and it’ll be one from this pair…..
Advanced Virgo
Hearts Are TrumpsHearts Are Trumps is a horse who’s going to win a decent pot at some point, and he’s a horse I’ve had some fun with in running on more than one occasion. Advanced Virgo is a horse I’ve been tracking for a wee while, and I’ll be making sure to try and catch him when the price is right.
At Carlisle, My Old Gold looks the time to bounce back, and I’m trying to beat 5’s.
1200 Fairyhouse – Fiveaftermidnight 20’s EW 4 Places
1350 Carlisle – My Old Gold
1405 Fairyhouse – Scoir Mear 16’s EW 6pls
1505 Fairyhouse – Campeador EW 6 PlsNovember 30, 2020 at 23:12 #1512681Got away with it yesterday, with Scoir Mear and My Old Gold doing the business, while the big hurdle went ok. Particularly happy with My Old Gold at 5’s, and she won it quite tidily in the end. Much better from her.
Decent Weekend.
Hopefully another quiet midweek, as it looks a proper hectic weekend.
December 2, 2020 at 01:10 #1512786Almost seven years to the day since I went to Hexham, and bet Seeyouatmidnight when he won at 200’s. Seems like just yesterday. The second that day, Regal Encore, didn’t turn out too bad either.
Love him, and I’m hoping he can do the business again at 5’s, and I think that’s too big a price.
1220 Haydock – Seeyouatmidnight 5’s
December 4, 2020 at 22:08 #1513020Some weekend of racing this, and I’m working……
Aintree
Big race of the day is The Becher Chase. I really like Give Me A Copper, especially running fresh, and I’ll consider him in running, but I’ll stick with Ramses De Teille, who I think still has the potential to step out of handicaps. In The Many Clouds Chase, old favourites Frodon and Native River take each other on, not to mention Santini. I really like the pair of them obviously, but it’s all about Frodon for me, and just want him to run in King George. Looks unlikely right now, win or lose tomorrow, but I hold out hope. Certainly no bet tomorrow.
I’ve went with Dingo Dollar in The Grand Sefton, but not that strong on anything really. I’ll consider Didero Vallis in running, or an EW on Federici.
Navan
Outstanding card at Navan. If The Becher is the big race race of the day, then The eCOMM Hurdle is the best race. It’s an absolute cracker. Torn between National hope Any Second Now, notebook horse At The Acorn, and old reliable De Name Escapes Me. I’m definitely betting Any Second Now, who looked forward last time, and I’ll probably m split stakes the other pair, but definitely with Acorn.
The Foxrock is always a strong race, and I’m siding with Treaceysenniscorthy.
I’m not betting them at this time, but Gee Rex is an interesting recruit to hurdles in the opener, and in the second, I’m hoping for good things long term from Finished Article.
Sandown
I’m really hopeful that Regal Flow can make the frame in The London National. He’s getting on a bit, but he can get involved here. The Tingle Creek is not my kind of race at all, but having wasted some cash on it Antepost, I’be thrown some more the way of Castlegrace Paddy after the highly unpredictable withdrawal of Altior. I’ll be watching Phoenix Way closely in The Henry VIII. Very interesting this horse.eCOMM Hurdle – At The Acorn 20’s
eCOMM Hurdle – Any Second Now
Becher Chase – Ramses De Teille 10’s
Tingle Creek – Castlegrace Paddy 16’s
Foxrock – Treaceysenniscorthy 8’s
London National – Regal Flow 40’s EW
Grand Sefton – Dingo Dollar 20’s EWDecember 5, 2020 at 16:41 #1513205Thank god for Regal Flow, and he saved my bacon, along with Treaceys, who I made a profit on in running.
Unfortunately both weren’t enough for a profit on the day, but they made a huge difference, and a narrow loss. Considering how badly some of them ran, I’ll take it.
December 5, 2020 at 17:25 #1513220I thankfully backed Lake View Lad today having seen a video of him jumping a few schooling fences the other day [wow]. I needed that having forgotten, with the excitement of the Hennessy, to back Yorkhill last week [ouch]. Well done (another Sandy winner for you) Realised just as the race was starting.Following Sam Thomas’s horses at the moment, although they’re not much of a price. Can’t get on here with my ipad still [not sure why]; can still read posts, though. But back home for a few days before we shield ourselves up north for the duration so can use my computer.Would normally be at the Borders National tomorrow as well. Would’ve been a bit cold though…
December 6, 2020 at 17:06 #1513370Hi moe, hope you are well, pleased to see you made up with Lake View Lad, that was a sore one to miss with Yorkhill
December 9, 2020 at 21:13 #1513646Well, Little Mo won for me today. Slightly made up for Yorkhill. Only spotted it because Adam Nicol is now training and had his first runner at Hexham.Only has three horses but he’s training them on the beach so we will be able to see them.Rose Dobbin has some good horses these days. Our neighbours father used to own the place where she now trains. His name is Dods [or something similar]. Have you heard of him? They were talking about Wembley on racing radio today so I think I’ll follow you with that one.
December 9, 2020 at 22:36 #1513649Nice one Moe. Yeah, noticed he was training now, good luck to him.
Can’t think of who Dods is, but I agree, she can get them ready. Hit the crossbar with Planet Nine a few weeks back, and I’ll go back in again, when he’s a decent price.
I’m happy with my price on Wembley, as you know The Classics don’t interest me much, but if I’m being honest, he finishes second too often for my liking, but hopefully I’ll get a run for my money.
December 10, 2020 at 22:37 #1513738Another cracking weekends racing, kicking off tomorrow.
Hopeful for my old pal Neverushacon in The Cross Country, while in The Finale, I think that Agrapart has plenty going for him. Played both of them Antepost.
Elsewhere on the card, in The Mares Handicap, I think that Stop Talking has a great chance at double figures, while as unlikely as Zamani looks really overpriced with six places on offer.
The 1300 at Punchestown is a tidy race, and I thought that Highest Benefit had a great EW chance, but I’m really interested in The Big Galloper this year, so I’ll have to split them.
Catesby Hurdle – Zamani 28’s EW 6 Places
1300 Punchestown – The Big Galloper 13-2
1300 Punchestown – Highest Benefit 14’s
1350 Cheltenham – Stop Talking
Glenfarclas – Neverushacon 6’s
Citipost Hurdle – Agrapart 20’s EWDecember 11, 2020 at 23:20 #1513879Nothing much doing today, but I topped up on Zamani at 66’s, and he got it done thankfully, and the two goes made some difference. The rest were poor, and Neverushacon a big disappointment.
December 11, 2020 at 23:38 #1513885Both the Anteposts have made it (so far) to the big one tomorrow, The Caspian Caviar Gold Cup, and I’m fairly confident of a big run from the pair of them. Midnight Shadow is weighted to run a big race, and I’d expect significant improvement from Aintree, while Master Tommytucker is a serious horse, and I just hope he jumps well.
Ballyandy is my selection in The International. There’s no secrets with him, but he should run his race, and four places makes a big difference. He was best priced 7’s AP, so I’m glad I waited.
I’ll also take a chance on Ibleo earlier on the card, as long as he doesn’t go too short.
I’ll definitely be betting Off You Go, and Ardhill at Fairyhouse, while I think Give Me A Copper is a great price at Doncaster.
1302 Fairyhouse – Ardhill
1315 Cheltenham – Ibleo
Caspian Caviar – Master Tommytucker 12’s
Caspian Caviar – Midnight Shadow 25’s
1412 Fairyhouse – Off You Go
International – Ballyandy EW 4 Places
1515 Doncaster – Give Me A Copper - AuthorPosts
