Istabraq, Bob, thanks for the congrats on Nube Negra, it made my Christmas that one.

Good luck today, I’ve went with Lord Du Mesnil as the main bet at Chepstow, and Joe Farrell as the ew choice.

Do you have anything in mind for the betfair, I’ve opened a thread up. I do like Christopher Wood at 25-1.

Thanks for doing The Betfair thread. My shortlist too long at the moment mate, I’ll wait just now.

Totally see it with Lord Du Mesnil today, and I’m still tempted by Joe Farrell EW as well.

I’d still consider a small EW on him, but considering the runs of my first two today, it might be a bit unfair to jinx you.

Delighted with Master Tommytucker yesterday, and bar the last fence howler, it went perfect.

He paid for the day, and it was good to escape unscathed, considering how badly some of them ran. Only got away with it as it was much smaller bets yesterday. Biggest loser was Ramses De Teille.

I still took a lot from Ramses, who was never put in the race, and he’s got “Ultima“ written all over him.

Another one who wasn’t knocked about was Solo. He’s definitely getting prepared for something, and it’s anybody’s guess. I’ve added him to my Anteposts.

    Rare midweek play.

I’m really keen on Little Bruce in The Yorkshire National, and happy with 8’s. Certainly top up if need be, while in the finale at Catterick, at 9-2, this is a great opportunity for Flamboyant Joyaux. (Abandoned)

At Bangor, I’m hoping that eased another couple of pounds, and with a run under his belt, Echo Watt can bounce back.

What a really well judged selection with Echo Watt. Going from the second last, I thought he’d run his race and would be overhauled, but going over the last he dug very deeply to find enough to hold off his pursuers. Absolutely epic pick!

Cheers mate, really chuffed with that one, the 14’s was a real bonus.

I’ve bet him twice before, and he really showed a great attitude on those occasions.

I was fairly confident from six out, as I knew he’d dig in. Just a brief scare when the camera angle changes around 2, 3 out, but when he was in front at the second last, I knew it was his bar a fall.

Thanks for explaining that. The camera angles are often misleading. Some courses much worse than others.

Yeah, it was just a brief worry mate, but thankfully all good.

He’s definitely one to keep in mind when he’s down a few pounds.

    Fairyhouse
In The Dan Moore, main hope is Pont Aven. Was delighted to get 20’s, and hopeful of a good show. Or Jaune De Somoza is my second choice, considering EW six places for him, but win only at the moment.

In the 1450, two very interesting runners over fences in Ilikedwayurthinkin and Aramax. Market suggests today isn’t the day, but both of real interest going forward. Ilikedwayurthinkin was tipped up by all and sundry last year, but didn’t deliver. I really don’t like following ones like that. I don’t like putting up horses touted widely elsewhere, but he’s got enough going for him.

Haven’t made my mind up on the pair, but tempted.

In the 1340, I really like Best Behaviour, and trying to beat 11’s. Walk To Freedom and Space Cadet distracting me in that one too.

    Warwick
In The Classic Chase, I like Achille and Notachance, but sitting it out at the moment. I’ve got a very poor record in it, and I’m not betting Notachance at short odds to buck the trend. I’m still tempted by Achille. I might change my mind later on the pair of them.

In The Pertemps Qualifier, I’m going with Tobefair and Geordie Des Champs. The final looks the obvious target for Tobefair, but I just wonder about that entry for The Stayers. He wasn’t far away last year, and Cobden an eyecatching booking. I think he’ll run very well here, and on that Stayers run, he’s very nicely treated. Geordie is the backup, but I bet him his last run before injury, and four places around 40’s, is too tempting.

    Market Rasen
Hopefully passes an inspection. I had a small Antepost bet on Justatenner in The Mansion Bet Hurdle. That was with a view to it cutting up. It’s not worked out that way, but I’ve topped up to 50’s anyway.

    1340 Fairyhouse – Best Behaviour
Dan Moore – Pont Aven 20’s
Dan Moore – Or Jaune De Somoza 40’s
Mansion Bet Hurdle – Justatenner 50’s EW
    Pertemps – Tobefair
Pertemps – Geordie Des Champs 40’s EW

Good run from Pont Aven there. Knew you’d be on Geordie des Champs today and I’ve joined you

Cheers Grass, chuffed with him, and money back in running, and the EW 50’s for Or Jaune De Somoza as well, so very happy with that.

Yeah Geordie worth a go, and I think I’ll be joining you with Achille.

Really decent days betting, and should have went to work with a smile on my face yesterday afternoon, but the loss of Mohaayed was a hard blow.

Regular on the threads the last few years, and had some fun following him.

Was really looking forward to him in this years Pertemps, but not to be.

Sadly, I know it wasn’t instant, but I hope it was over as soon as possible for him.

Biggest bet yesterday by some way was Pont Aven, and comfortably got my money back in running, and Or Jaune De Somoza got the EW money at 50’s. I find these 2 Mile Handicap Chases tricky, so very happy with that outcome.

Even happier with The Classic Chase. Decided late on to add Notachance and Achille at 4’s and 11’s, and could enjoy it as they had it between them at the last. The exacta obviously not a massive one, but a wee bonus, and good just to get one on the board.

Was also money back for Justatenner, having topped up at 80’s, I had put a lay in early, and switched the race off.

Best Behaviour ran well, and considered laying off at the home bend, but it was a very small bet, and would have been pointless.

The only disappointing runs were by Tobefair and Geordie Des Chanps. Both well beaten.

The one that got away was Aramax, as he was freely available at 25’s, eventually winning at 14’s. Both he and Ilikedwayurthinkin remain on the radar after today, and I’m now trying to second guess where they might go, with Aramax very interesting at 20’s for The Grand Annual.

Really happy with that lot though, and good to keep the run going. Not often I say that in January.

Decent card at Punchestown today. Envoi and Asterion obviously the headline act, but I’ll happily not get involved.

Main fancies are is in the last two races.

In the last I’m with High Sparrow. Not a horse I had much interest in, but the way he lobbed along in his last two marathons, suggested that he could do with a slightly shorter distance. He gets that here. My main concern is that I thought he’d be perfect for The Leopardstown Chase, and that might be the plan still. I was happy with 14’s. It’s a string race though, and I’ll probably cover. Likely candidates are Out Sam or Minellafordollars.

In the 1520, I had to go with Princely Conn at 28’s. Bet him a couple of times before, but he’s not really delivered. I happily swerved him last time, but he looked a lot more like it, and it was uncomfortable viewing. I really like him today, big fancy, and I’m hoping he can stay on the right track.

I had a small Antepost the other day on Magic Tricks for The Supreme, at 40’s. Not convinced he’ll go, and was happy to take a chance at those odds. Decided to have a bigger bet, with him out today, and though the 40’s has now gone, the 25’s NRNB actually makes more sense. No point backing him today.

In the 1420 I don’t think Duchess Ravenwaves is completely out of it on her best form, and at 50’s, I was happy to take a chance.

I’m also on the AW today, with Kraka in the last. I’m assuming today is not the day, as the odds look too big, but I’m happy to give him a try at those odds.

    Punchestown
    1420 – Duchess Ravenwaves 50’s EW 4pls
    1520 – Princely Conn 28’s EW 4pls
    1550 – High Sparrow 14’s

    Southwell
    1605 – Kraka 16’s
