Don’t be daft Grass, seems a fair question, and none of the firms are really geared up for these things. I’ve already did American & Sizing Codelco this year.
Native River was with Hills.
The best by far are Bet365, William Hill & Paddy Power.
Bet365 – Just phone them, ask to get a quote, and they will Phone you back with an offer. Very reliable, and they always return the call.
William Hill – Phone up, and normally quoted there and then, and usually fair price.
Paddy Power – Just E-Mail support@paddypower.com, and they’ll get back to you in 24 hours. Very fair prices too.
Stan James & Ladbrokes – Similar to Hills, but prices are rarely that good.
I hope that explains things ok, but if I haven’t made it clear, please let me know.
Might be worth asking LostSoldier3 for a Corals/Ladbrokes perspective.
October 30, 2017 at 01:13 #1324110Thanks that’s clear. I have accounts with b365, PP and boylesports so will ask the first two.
October 30, 2017 at 18:34 #1324188Well; have had a stinker of a few days. Backing horses from a ‘horses to follow’ book that I get each year, and have done my dough badly. Then, today, get back from having the car MOT’d, dob on oddschecker, notice money going on a Philip Kirby horse in the bumper [always make a note of his horses with Adam riding for him a lot] throw a few pence at it and it wins at @ 12/1. Makes up [slightly]for not backing Smad Place yesterday.
October 31, 2017 at 00:29 #1324234Good to see your luck turning Moe, it’s all ups and downs. Yesterday was my best day for a good while, but certainly back down to earth today. What about old Smad, just brilliant.
November 2, 2017 at 12:16 #1324538Always like a bet in The Durham National, and I’m sticking with Buachaill Alainn, who did the business for me in this last year. He’s not been great since that day, and trainer say’s that he’s had stomach ulcers. I’m sure that’s what it is.
Mentioned him a few weeks back, and always wanted another punt on him here, and I managed to nab some of the 10’s last night, though kicking myself for missing the 12’s
That’ll be my only bet of the day, though I will stick on some perms, and the only one I know will be in there at the moment, is Kalaniti in the 1300 at Sedgefield, but apart from the big race, I’ll keep it bare minimum.
Durham National
Buachaill Alainn, Mister Don
50p Reverse Exacta-£185
November 2, 2017 at 18:46 #1324586Tip for three Bowen horses on t’other forum; two of them win, one doesn’t. Guess which was the only one I backed…
November 2, 2017 at 22:19 #1324622Unlucky Moe, was it the one that I backed, by any chance?
November 2, 2017 at 22:22 #1324623Well at least no hard luck stories for BAlainn, and he was easily swept aside this year.
The perms didn’t fare much better, with the only one placing being Wide Awake at 40’s. Smashing price which unfortunately didn’t make it’s way to my pocket. He’s owned by The Midnight Racing Club, and with a name like that, I’ve been watching his progress (haven’t actually seen the race yet).
I’d be pretty much 100% certain that Sandy Thomson can get a win or two out of him this season, and with a name like that, it’s a Racing Club I really should get involved with.
November 5, 2017 at 02:04 #1325251Smashing weekend so far, with Colin’s Sister doing the business at 20’s, had a few quid on during the week, and very happy with that.
As much as I really like The Charlie Hall, and The JNwine, they’re traditionally very small betting races for me, so no harm done in them, and happy enough with ADO, and Definitly Red. Got a run for my money from the pair of them, both trying, and both coming up short with no excuses. I think ADO has the scope for improvement, but I just feel that Definitly Red has now showed his hand, and though a very nice horse, that’s as good as he is.
Waaheb was a small loser in the 1355. I always feel a bit uncomfortable when I mention that I had a winner, when I actually hadn’t claimed it beforehand, having only giving it a mention in the forecasts. So to balance that up, today was the day when it didn’t go to plan, and I missed Top Ofthe Ra in the same race. Could have got more than 12’s easily, but I didn’t have a bean on…………dammit.
Antony was a nice winner for me last year, albeit to small stakes, and he was thankfully small stakes again. Biggest bet of the day was in that race, and it was the slightly underwhelming Ultragold.
Other positive of the weekend so far, was escaping The Breeders Cup in profit. Only bet one horse, Battle of Midway, and he did me proud, while I had 2 x Ante-Post bets on Midnight Storm, and my old pal The Bomber, and he got me some ew cash, which I was very happy with.
With all the talk of Coneygree, and Cue Card, it shouldn’t be forgotten that Village Vic looks out of love with the game, and he might just be “gone” now. I hope I’m wrong.
Definitely betting Sunday now, after the return from Colins’s Sister, and looking forward to some decent, pressure free, action.
November 5, 2017 at 14:05 #1325313Too many catching the eye today to even do perms, and is this is a traditionally low stakes weekend for me, I’m a wee bit in “no mans land” today.
At shorter prices, I like Lagostovegas at Naas, while Ruby staying loyal to Fabulous Saga is interesting, but he didn’t show me enough last time. I’ve no choice but to leave them out first of all.
Thankfully nothing doing at Huntingdon, so can put a line through that card.
On these shores, Carlisle looks a nice card. Can’t wait to see Waiting Patiently, but too short for me. Hoping for a big run from him. In the 1430, Beggars Cross looks solid, and the Blameitallonmyroots also looks nice, but at around 16’s to 20’s, Waldorf Salad & Harry The Viking will do for me, with 4 Places up for grabs. Harry The Viking always gives his all, and I got a decent return from Harry last year, while conversely, Waldorf Salad let me down at Bangor. I expected more from him, but he’s better than that, and weighted to go well for a trainer who targets this race.
Christmas In Usa might, just might mind, be worth a minimum stake risk, while Desert Cry looks a silly price in the 1505.
At Cork, I’ve had a small stakes punt on Jetez ew at 40’s, and in The Cork National, I’m left with Rogue Angel, who I bet on Thursday night, with my other runner withdrawn. I’ve now got Tulsa Jack at 18’s a win only saver, and I’ve topped up on The Rogue.
I’ve bet the Ryan pair, Cnoc Na Sioga, and Le Hachette at the odds, and long may this yard continually be overrated, win or lose today.
Still tempting types on the flat, and at Naas, I’ve split stakes on Western Boy (yes, again) at big odds ew, and also win for Swamp Fox, while Maudlin Magdalene who’s been a loser for me twice this summer, looks well worth another go at 33’s, as she hasn’t ran badly at all.
I’m going to have tread carefully, and may perm later in the day, once the first few have got stuffed lol
November 5, 2017 at 15:28 #1325332The Boy was close there VTC
November 6, 2017 at 00:11 #1325402Best for a while Botchy, and so close to a forecast for me. Happy enough with Swamp Fox, but the 1, 2 would have been even better.
November 6, 2017 at 00:24 #1325403Chuffed to bits with how things went today, and how things are going in general.
Started off with the minimum stakes on the 2 outsider, Jetez, and Christmas In Usa, and both ran well enough, and though a few lengths off in 4th, I was particularly happy with Jetez.
Then the fun started. Maudlin Magdalene was the first bet up, and she bagged the 33’s each way, running another cracker. Really like this horse, and connections always seem to be trying.
Harry The Viking then showed a tremendous effort to hold on in the 1430, and I got rewarded with 25’s, which was a real bonus. I had topped up on him and Waldorf, once Magdalene had made the frame, and that was a real buzz when the old boy held on.
Next up were my old pals Swamp Fox, and Western Boy, and I was so close to the forecast, but 8’s win for Swamp Fox, and 22’s each way for Western Boy was perfect.
Really rolling by this point, and with money in the pocket, I had a proper go on Desert Cry, and I got a very decent price on Betfair when I topped up the 33’s EW I was already holding. I screamed the bloody house down when he came in, fantastic.
That was the end of the fun though. I didn’t have to top up in The Cork National, with the perms running, but I did anyway on Rogue Angel, and I got a run for my money, but no joy.
I didn’t have to top up on the Ryan pair, as I was now in potential serious windfall territory with the perms, but neither of them ever looked like getting involved.
An unbelievable days betting for me, and the wins of Harry The Viking, and Desert Cry have already been viewed over and over by myself. Happy day today.
Sadly, really struggling for a bet tomorrow, and although I always continue when I win, it really does look like a single only, with my old pal Pettochside on the AW at Kempton. I’ll be looking to beat the 8’s.
1550 Kempton
Pettochside, Intransigent, Vimy Ridge
20p Combination Exactas, and Trifectas-£206.40
November 6, 2017 at 15:35 #1325446Little Ding Ding wins at Plumpton; 20/1. May start a fan club for her on facebook [only two members thus far, though…]. What a little star she is.
November 6, 2017 at 17:30 #1325457What a hit Moe, very well played. If she wins at that price again, I’ll certainly like her page lol

Yes Moe! I’ll come and like the Ding Ding Fan Club page. It’s great for Sheena West to have another gutsy little mare so soon after losing Cannon Fodder. How many more Plumpton wins does Ding Ding need to get a statue at the track?
November 7, 2017 at 18:23 #1325661She should have one now imo [and it wouldn’t cost much as it would only need to be a ‘very small’ statue!]. Glad I only heard the race on the radio and didn’t see it as she made a right mess of the last hurdle[would probably help if she could see over the top of it LOL!]. Lovely picture of her on Sheenas facebook page wearing a poppy in her bridle.
