Thanks BB; need to get to grips with Twitter. I don’t think I’ll get blocked on WH’s with my 3 pence ew bets, though!

Things didn’t start off quite so well yesterday, but old Gas Line, and Benbens fair saved the day.

Of the losers, well quite why Midnight Shadow was kicked for home so soon, I’m not quite sure, while the other Midnight, Midnight Escape, based on that run, clearly has a big prize on the agenda later in the season.

Streets of Promise, and Evening Hush were well beaten, though SOP was off a long layoff I suppose, and the others over the National Fences, bar Imjoeking were very disappointing.

I was very happy with Cloudy Dream, and I think it was the ground, rather than the trip, that did him, and he’s hopefully going to be of some value to mu Gold Cup Book.

As mentioned, Gas Line was bet to cover my Becher stakes, and a little bit more, and I try not to use this phrase too often, but for once…………he deserved that. Benbens had a few quid on him, and I really really enjoyed that one, and what was turning out to be a poor day had, had much healthier look to it with that pair.

Not that much doing today, but a few bets here and there.

At Punchestown, really looking forward to seeing Sizing John back out, but although I think that Sub Lieutenant may be the dark horse, it’s A Toi Phil I’ll be cheering on. I think he’s very decent, without quite being top class, and he’d be a massive result for my Gold Cup Book. I don’t have to have much on today, as a result of him being in my book, but a couple of quid at 25’s each way was too good to refuse. I’ve taken the same bet with Fortune Street in the last, as I thought he looked ok at Punchestown last season, and with Jamie Codd up, the 25’s looked big. I love Un De Sceaux, but I’ve thrown Ballyoisin into a couple of perms, along with Light That.

Main bet is Georges Conn at 8’s to win, as he’s a horse who, although he rarely wins, he usually runs his race, and he looked worth chancing, with a few chancers in there.

Very low key stuff then, and modest bets. Very happy to take the money and run this weekend, as with the other tracks abandoned, I’d only be betting for the sake of it in the other races. Very very happy with how the last two days have went.

With only the two bets today, not a lot to discuss, as both A Toi Phil, and particularly Georges Conn, were both soundly beaten. Georges was a few quid on, and I was actually quite confident, but that was a thumping, while, to be honest, they didn’t try a leg with A Toi Phil. I like to (roughly) work out my own routes for these Giggs horses, but I’m really struggling with ATP. I just wonder sometimes now that they’ve got that many chasers, they don’t quite know what to do with them all.

Good to see Sizing John win in the manner he did, and he’s undoubtedly the best Midnight Legend has produced. Why did they not call him Sizing Midnight???

Smashing weekend though, and can’t believe those winners on Friday, and Saturday. Absolutely delighted with how the season is going so far. Still, hoping for another quiet week, well until Cheltenham…………..please let it beat the weather.

Bob i see power got market up for Paddy power chase my bet there is BONNY KATE 25/1 though i think welsh national suit her better being she won at 3m4 and soft ground and Chepstow which a front runners track suit her more and extra yardarge in favour. But in her favour over PP Chase is she ran in troytown only look at recent winners of race to see that those placed in a troytown go on to win paddy power chase.

Great price for her Darren, she won’t be far away. Thread up an running, and I’ve already went for Flaxen Flare, and on the verge of adding Oscar Knight & Squouateur.

I was initially very disappointed at not getting off work Fri/Sat, as I hate missing these meetings at Cheltenham, but looking at The Friday Card, bar The Cross Country, it’s a wee bit run of the mill stuff.

I bet More Of That for this seasons Cross Country about 6 months ago, and we finally get the chance to see how he takes to it today. I’d expect him to be ready to give this a good go today, but with other distractions in the field, I might just sit it out. Distractions don’t come much bigger to me than my old pal Tiger Roll. Not really made much secret of what I think of him, and as I said a few months back, I strongly suspected he might just become Elliot’s new “go to” Cheltenham horse, as my other old fave, Cause of Causes is not getting any younger. I added Tiger Roll to the Market for The Cross Country a few weeks back, as I just thought the “Cause of Causes” route looked highly probable. The pair of them, along with MOT would be some race in March. Hard to weigh up Tigers chances today though. I’ll have a guess at a quiet spin round to see how he takes to it. Wouldn’t want his mark going up too high (obviously not talking about The Cross Country in March as far as his mark goes). No, maybe a race to sit and watch tomorrow, and it might just be that Cantlow is the bet tomorrow, and I might have a play on him nearer the off if his price holds, and this might be his season plan.

As I said, not great stuff on show, but I’ll have an interest, though highly unlikely I’ll get to see any of it, as expect to be busy at work, and the mobile signal is dire to Non Existent. Small bets only I reckon.

Qualando at 20’s looks just a shade high to me back over timber, where he had been running well, while I was happy to chance Twenty Eight Guns at 8’s. Finally, Taj Bandalandabad is a horse I’ve bet once before, and he was very poor, but I think he looks weighted to be better tomorrow, and 25’s looks a fair each way price. Mysteree is too big at 4’s, but I really fancy him, and I’ll bet him if I can get a return off of the two earlier runners.

    1540 Cheltenham
    Taj Bandalandabad, Anteros
    50p Reverse Exacta

Nothing doing today, and thankfully it was small bets.

Managed to catch a wee bit of Qualando before the signal went, and I caught all of Taj Badalandabads race, and I’ll definitely be betting him again this season. Didn’t see any of Twenty Eight Guns race, but reports differ on how he was going when he was brought down.

The most important race of the day though was The Cross Country, and I made sure I seen that, and just lovely to see Tiger Roll lob round (bar belting The Aintree Fence), I honestly think you can take your pick now at what race is the plan in March. Textbook.

On to tomorrows action, and it really is poor fare for Cheltenham, and I’ve picked the right weekend to work.

In The Caspian Caviar, I’m on Ballyalton 9’s to win, and Foxtail Hill ew 16’s. They’ll do for me, though a big run from Clan Des Obeaux would be very welcome for my Gold Cup Book.

I might play Copper Kay or Ron’s Dream in the last, but only if I get any joy from The Caspian Caviar, or from Solstice Son at Doncaster.

    Caspian Caviar Gold Cup
    Ballyalton, Foxtail Hill
£1 Reverse Exacta, and 20p Trifectas with CDO

    1520 Doncaster
    Solstice Son, Ballyboley

I would have been very surprised had Twenty Eight Guns done anything from where he was, Bobby. He’d already made one bad mistake and whilst appearing to have come back on the bridle was detached and not threatening to make any inroads. He was far enough adrift to have been hampered and unseat when one of the prone horses made a first movement to rise.

I’ve reached the give up point with Ron’s Dream so today might be a winning day for her!

I didn’t bother in the end Moe, after what happened in The Caspian Caviar, and the fact I couldn’t really watch the racing at work (had to do a bit of ducking and diving to watch the big one), I decided that was enough for one weekend.

Thanks for that GM, that sounds about right by one report, no hard luck stories then.

No joy today in The Caspian Caviar, but after what happened to poor Starchitect, it doesn’t really matter. One of the worst things I’ve ever seen in racing, brutal. Didn’t bother with the racing after that, as I said to Moe, it was hard enough getting to watch it anyway. I had already bet the exacta for Solstice Son/Ballyboley, but didn’t bother with Solstice Son on his own.

Ballyalton ran another cracker, though that just might be as good as he is. The horse to take out of the race though is Foxtail Hill. He’s beginning to look like a decent 2 Miler, and don’t laugh, but I’d let him take his chance in The Champion Chase. I’d gladly have a few quid on him to place in that, and already bet him 200’s to 240’s.

Working tomorrow, so I’ll definitely sit it out.

After what happened to Starchitect, and after what was, without question, the worst winter meeting at Cheltenham in recent memory, time for a few days away.

I’ll no doubt be back on with a few for Ireland tomorrow though lol

Outstanding meeting at Ascot today, with 3 Crackers in particular, and win or lose, really looking forward to it.

The big race of the day, The Lavazza Silver Cup, became a bit messy for me Ante-Post, with a couple of no shows, but it was always going to be about Go Conquer if he came here. I always thought he was a nice enough horse, but it was his two wins this season that caught the eye, and I just think he might be a lot better than his rise for his last win. I’m on at 7’s, so I hope that he can stay around the 8’s, as that would be a real bonus. It really is a strong race, and I’m also on Frodon & On Tour, both at 14’s win only. I haven’t quite hit my limit for this race, so with a couple of Non Runners stakes, I’d like to claw back, I wouldn’t mind a wee saver in there. Regal Encore filled that role perfectly last time, so it’ll be him again here. Sadly no 100’s this time (I still can’t believe he was 100’s for Newbury, worlds gone mad) but I’ve been rabbiting on about for a while now, so it would be nice to see him run well. Of the rest, well Singlefarmpayment would be great for my Gold Cup Book, and he’s not the only one in that field that this applies to, but I really really hope that Go Conquer can do the business.

The supporting races are decent as well, and it’s a good renewal of The Long Walk. I’m hoping that Sam Spinner can keep his Cheltenham hopes alive in The Long Walk, and this’ll probably answer that question. Lovely horse, and everything crossed for him, though there’s obviously a wee voice in the back of my head telling me that this will be too big an ask.

In The Racing Welfare Hurdle, I’m happy with my 33’s on Fergall, and 20’s, on Bleu Et Rouge, but although it may not be an absolute top drawer renewal, it’s still a very hot race, and I’m already ahead on it, having laid a wee bit on Bleu, so I’ve got a third string, and I’ve added Top Othe Ra at 50’s win, and 40’s each way. I have to draw a line through his last run, where he was dire, but I have my concerns about how he was ridden that day, and I’d be hopeful he can be more prominent here.

My old pal Three Faces West runs in The Tommy Whittle at Haydock, and I remain hopeful that he can come back to his best, but in my opinion he didn’t confirm that last time at Cheltenham, and he’ll only make the perms today. The one I do like is Catamaran Du Seuil, and I think he has lots in his his favour today. 11’s seems very fair, and I’ll try to beat that.

Top Ofthe Ra 50/1 with BV now Bobby, which I have backed myself. Would like to have your price on Bleu Et Rouge though :good:

Yeah, got to have a go at that price Tommy, he’s miles better than that last run (thought it was bad enough that is was hard to defend), and I’ll chance that he can maybe bounce back here. Yeah, lucky to get that price on Bleu, and I was able to lay and have a profit on the race, with all 3 of them running for me as well, so very happy with this one.

Well done with Sam Spinner….trading around 5/1 jolly on the machine for stayers.
Few quid traded above 200 VTC…..I hope some of that is yours :yahoo:
I can see a green book coming.
