I’ve got all the 200+ mate, and traded out well green, I was very very happy today. Had him Ante-Post 10’s for this as you know, and he’s been my horse of the season so far easily. I thought he would go close today, but I thought something would nab him, but not a bit of it, and he’s some horse. Fingers crossed he goes straight there now in one piece.

He was obviously the highlight of the day for me betting wise, though we’ll never know how Go Conquer would have fared. I tend to think he would have won, and I honestly have him down as better than any of these, but it wasn’t to be. Mentioned last night that I had a few of these in my Gold Cup Book, and there were 4 of them in total. I’m very happy to say that Gold Present was one of them, and I have more than a couple of quid on at 1000’s, not that I think, in all reality, that he’ll ever trade low enough for me to take advantage. This race itself was a mess for me, not really that bad financially (though I seriously regret the Go Conquer stake), but just the number I bet in it. Far too many, and wasn’t even trying for a “book”. The money I spend Ante-Post goes down every year, and betting like that will not change that trend.

Got a nice run from Catamaran Du Seuil at Haydock, and absolutely no qualms about The Racing Welfare Hurdle, as thanks to Bleu Et Rouge, I made a profit on it anyway. As for Bleu, I really hope to see him put away for The County Hurdle now. I love that race, and crucially, so do WPM & JP.

Merry Christmas to the half dozen of you actually read my waffle lol, and I hope you all have a fantastic time with the folks.

    @FlyersNap
Yeah, not sure why Coleman kept going on him. Just a blip I hope, and I still have Go Conquer down as very decent.

Merry Christmas, and hope it’s a good one.

Can you believe Mick Jazz VTC ?

Wrote my little list of horses to follow in 2018 and put him down first. Looked at his price last night and said to myself ” not today, i’ll catch him in a handicap this year ” :-(

The good news Botch is that I had him, and the even better news is that I got a Price Boost on him from Betfair Sportsbook. The bad news is that it was a pretty small bet, and the even worse news is that by admitting to a price boost, I can pretty much give away the nick of my Sportsbook account lol.

Been a pretty quiet betting week overall (bar The Paddy Power), and although a few bets here and there, nothing too big, as I’ve been working long hours, and any spare time on here has been spent tidying up threads on “Big Races”, and “Cheltenham”, but that is a tirade for another day.

After Mick Jazz, I’ll also have to aftertime Shattered Love today as well. Stilvi and myself were very keen on Monalee early doors, and couldn’t fail to be impressed with his fencing debut, but I just fancied a wee upset, and thought the winner looked value. To be fair, the way he was travelling, I think Monalee would have won, but he remains of big interest for Cheltenham.

Had a wee bit of luck on Wednesday with Whiskey Sour, and thought my luck was in for the week with that one, but not to be, as I also had Smokey Joe Joe at Limerick, who was about 6 furlongs clear, when he fell 2 out. I’m also still trying to work out how the hell he managed to bet beat on Wakanda in The Rowland Meyrick.

Happy enough with Tea For Two in The King George, and for a brief moment, I thought he was going to get there, but the winner is a very nice sort indeed, and it’s a race that should be won by the best horse.

The Paddy Power made the big difference to the week though. I would have came out ahead with those two winners today, but The PP is a race where I have a go, and I had nothing to show from my guys. Small crumbs of comfort from Squouateur, who even this far out is my NAP of the festival for The Kim Muir, while I have Anibale Fly at 1000’s for The Gold Cup, and would love to see him get an entry now.

There are some proper bad Saturdays during the Flat Season, and the one advantage that The NH Season has over the flat, is the Saturday action, there’s always a race of big interest, but tomorrow sees what is traditionally the worst Saturday of the year, and it really hasn’t disappointed lol.

Struggling for a bet, but Wuff & Potters Legend catch the eye in The Mandarin, and Peter Stuyvesant on the AW, and my old pal Harry The Viking at Haydock are interesting.

Good win for Adan Nicol today after the disappointment of Lady Buttons in Ireland. I was on Mick Jazz [thankfully] but was pretty stressed when the Balko de Flos nearly won, as he was the only outsider in the race I hadn’t backed that day! My whole life was flashing before me at the end of the race….

Sorry Moe, completely missed your post last night.

I’m sure Lady Buttons will have other days Moe, and wasn’t a complete disaster. I’m a wee bit hacked off with Mick Jazz Moe, mentioned him enough this year, and the plan was always to win a fair amount off of him, but it was not my biggest bet of the season, and the cat is definitely out of the bag with him now.

Well, if it’s any consolation, I only backed him because you’d mentioned him so much. I spent ages last night checking which trainers were in form and then didn’t back Henry Daly’s or Kerry Lees horses today. Duuh…

Well at least we got some sort of win from him Moe.

Really fancy Lee to have a winner today with Russe Blanc, he was a strong fancy for Chepstow, but he goes here now. Been waiting him out for a while now, and was looking forward to a nice price, but he’s very short.

I see your kicking around in here at this time Bob, all the very best to you.
I hardly need to wish you good luck, you’ve been spot on all year and I’ve
every faith that will carry on in 2018. I’m tucked up with a with a lemsip
a Vicks nasal spray and a box of tissues (and no, it’s not some weird sexual
fetish), I’ve got the dreaded lurgy that’s been doing it’s rounds in Dunoon.
    Cheers :good:

As each season passes, I cut back on my staking more and more, and this year has been no exception. At this stage of the season, 3, 4, 5 years ago, I would have 30+ different multi’s and Accas on the go, they never do much, and the money isn’t long in stacking up, as I found to my cost in 2015.

Not now though, and only have four on so far, and they all include Bachasson & Sutton Place.

I’ve not being shy in saying I really like Bachasson, and though I’ve bet him for both The Ryanair & Gold Cup, I really do like him for the big one. He’s out today at Tramore, and though a 4 runner affair, it’s a hot race. Everything crossed for him. He’s up against two horses I think could be Giggs Aintree horses, in A Toi Phil, and Lord Scoundrel. I’ve not bet Scoundrel for anything yet, but I have bet A Toi for Aintree, and I’ve got a big total sitting on him in my Gold Cup Book. He would be some consolation should Bach fail to fire. Champagne West has made my Gold Cup Book, as per, and he makes up the field, but he’s been disappointing since The Thyestes. Worth remembering though, that that Thyestes run was one of the best NH Performances of the season, so it’s safe to say, that this event at Tramore is easily the best race of the day.

Sutton Place is a long time favourite of mine, and I’ll be very disappointed if he can’t land this Beginners Chase at Fairyhouse. It’s The NH Chase I’ve bet him for at Cheltenham (split with stablemate Fagan), and I’ve also covered him for The Stayers, should fences not be for him.

Can’t bet the pair of them on their own at the prices, but they’ll be making the perms.

Also making the perms will be the progressive looking White Arm, and long term target horse Russe Blanc. As I said to Moe, Russe is not the price I wanted, and as Soldier said on his post, he’s not escaped attention.

Need a few bigger prices to go with the perms. At Cheltenham, he’s very risky, but at around 11’s, I don’t think it’s that out of the question that Splash of Ginge can bounce back, while having bet Anteros at 40’s Ante-Post, I’ve not got much option but to top up at 66’s. I don’t think those odds do him justice at all.

In Ireland, it’s been a while since I bet any of the Ryan horses, but back for more at Fairyhouse, and with a claimer on, if Draycott Place is ever going to bounce back, then this might be the day, and he’s worth a risk at 25’s, while at around 9’s, I really like Wee Small Hours.

Midnight Malibu, who has been good to me the last year, also looks a fair price on the AW.

I’m very mindful of the poor January I had last year, so not going mad, but really looking forward to some decent racing.
