Oh wow!
Dicoh & Sam’s Cross made a superb double made all the more delightful with the early price of Sam’s Cross.
I will certainly play this system again and again.

Take the tipster with the most winners and if still equal the one with the most recent win, after that you are on your own
Today of course it would be RG Goodwood 3.55 Acquisition stake 20 points.October 1, 2009 at 15:04 #251053Thanks once more
Formath
for your patience, let’s keep our fingers crossed for another one today.

October 1, 2009 at 15:36 #251060I used to use my own(flawed) speedfigures allied to Lucky 15’s with treble odds 1 winner. I never collected the bonus but broke even had fun and a few little nice earners. interestingly a few flaws as i thought were down to a little bit of skullduggery as the court cases brought suggested.
I did have some success following in form (paper tipsters)
but allthough the cash is nice no pride was taken.Small stakes multiples enjoy have fun and don’t let the scheming thieves rob you.
October 1, 2009 at 16:16 #251072The Lucky 15
has now recieved two mentions and so looks to be more popular than Gordon Brown.
Is the consensus of opinion that the bet should be tailored to the number of selections (which has been my MO.)
2 selections = 2 singles + a double, half stakes on the double.
3 selections = a Trixie
4 selections . . . I am never sure about but err towards doubles only, in pref. to a Yankee
5 selections = 10 doubles
6 & more selections and I implode ! ! !
With each way selections my preference in the past has been for 10/1 and greater only but having recenly read a posting (somewhere) which struck a chord with me was 4/1 min. when paying a 25% or 5/1 min. when paying 20% and due to a recent run of very poor results have adopted this method.

RG only made 3rd today at 9/4 whilst G won 3/1 and F won 13/2 – it’s always the way
. Still two more days to make the coup, so onwards and upwards
Some 15 years ago I had a book as a gift – ‘Bet sensibly’ and I thought that’s for me. It provides an alternative to the Yankee that it claims is ‘much superior’, 6 selections in 5 doubles, 4 trebles and 2 accumulators (edited 2 Oct as I made a right cock-up of it first time
)
1. X—-XXX-X
2. XX——XXX
3. -XX–XX—X
4. –XX—XX-X
5. —XXX—XX
6. —-X-XXXX2 winner = 2/1 against a winning double
3 winners = either a double or 2 doubles or a treble
4 winners = 2 doubles or 3 doubles or or 2 doubles and a treble or or 2 doubles and an accumulator or 3 doubles and an accumulator.
5 winners = 3 doubles or 3 trebles or 4 doubles and a treble and an accumulator or 3 doubles , 2 trebles and an accumulator.
6 winners = full houseOf course you still have to pick winners but what is your opinion of this idea?
October 1, 2009 at 22:28 #251151You strain the brain here
Formath
and it must be "Hobson’s choice" as are most things with betting.
6 selections = Heinz (full cover perm.) of 57 bets.
I really would not like to give an opinion other than to say with my luck the selections would be in all the wrong places.
I really am no expert and my muliple betting is much about restricted to the earlier posting and the more selections I have the more I start to waver.
I said earlier that "The Flag" has had a couple of mentions which in truth is a bet I have swerved but only because it is like your suggestion, selective in so much as a lot will depend where the selections are placed.
I hate to admit it but my reasons for this thread is because I fail to make a reasonable profit with my singles and have of late given most, if not all, my profit gained throughout the summer back to the layers/bookies. I love the thrill & fun of betting (tried laying and hated it) but still want to retain the fun/thrill but with even smaller stakes and reason that only multiples can do it,
for me that is
, sure, I understand this approach is not for everybody.
I have much about tried all things there are to be experimented with over far too many years and can only say that "Money Management" is the only route to betting happiness and money management will again come in many different ways to each betting individual.
Oh hell, I can waffle on at times but perhaps your old book on
Betting Sensibly
can determine selection methods, different types of betting practice and staking plans. . .
if only we had ALL the answers!

Sorry about that
Formath
I forgot to mention it due to my incoherent ramblings.
Sure it failed today whilst the others happily emptied the bookies satchels, as they say "that’s life" and I have never expected to win every day and let’s not forget we are playing with their money again tomorrow.
I tried the
lowest priced favourite
as well today . . .
it lost!
but I will try again tomorrow and will experiment with a small recovery staking plan and see what happens.

By public support, I mean that the horse is not an outsider. To expand a little, horses between 5/1 and 10/1 in average-sized fields will not be favourites, but will almost certainly have attracted a lot of bets. Horses outside of this range in average-sized fields will include those with only a very small probability of winning. These horses are usually very poor value at SP and are therefore not suitable for any type of systematic betting as a punter.
I should emphasise that it is only the ‘Treble Odds for a Winner’ bonus that makes the Lucky 15 worth considering. You only need a 5/1 winner to break even on the bet. Bookmakers do not like giving this concession, so you might have to shop around to get it.
No doubt that single bets are the best option, but If I was having a multiple bet, the Lucky 15 with treble bonus is the only one that would interest me.

Artemis
,
I once was told the majority of contributions to racing forums are 90% rubbish and I sometimes think the questions I ask will only increase that number.
Thanks for your answer and apologise for my "thickness"

The ‘running yankee’ bet RG Spinning stake 10 point does not go until the final race of the day Wol 9.20.That being the case I thought I might attempt to provide some ‘rubbish’ to try and confound the critics by doing a
‘sensible perm’ with selections from Newmarket. These are my selections after considering the form, time, trainer, hcap weights and probable market – so not to be dismissed lightly
Newmarket (the 6 underlined will be the selections for our sensible perm)
1.25 Tabassum – Blue maiden, Sweet Sonnet
1.55 Confront – Rio De Plata
2.30 Lady Of The Desert – Song Of My Heart, Special Duty
3.05 Showcasing – Poet’s Voice
3.40 Esaar – Total Command, Azimuth
4.15 Drill Sergeant – Chock A Block
4.50 Bal Al Salam – Alainmaar
5.25 Opera Prince – Dreamwalk, Beauchamp WizardOctober 2, 2009 at 15:33 #251256Alan, you are a walking encyclopaedia of the Gee-Gee’s. You must have a very understanding wife to have accumulated such wisdom

I like this idea of the ‘Sensible Perm’ and I’m gonna give it a go today. I’ve decide upon a ‘Sensible-Sensible Perm’ by concentrating on today’s Group Races (with the odd Selling Hurdle chucked in, as I can’t help myself).
1.25 HQ – Bella Swan
1.55 HQ – Forgotten Voice
2.15 Hx – Solis
2.30 HQ – Misheer
3.05 HQ – Anzaan
4.15 HQ – Classic Punch22 x £5.00 Betfair Win & Place SP – Rolled Up
October 2, 2009 at 20:02 #251303Good afternoon
Formath
The perm is going well with 4 winners at this time, you will be starting a trend and we will all become Multiple specialists.
I am back in the land of a fast connection which is a huge relief and so I need not rush things.
The Rolling Yankee
I got on Spinning very early this morning at 11/2 and have just noticed it down as low as 4/1 with ToteSport. . .
Happy Days!
What I wanted to bring to your attention (if you did not already know) is Captain Heath landed 4/1 Azwaan (which I am sure you are not too happy about) at Newmarket today and is 3 on the bounce (my records only). I have always liked this tipster whoever he may be and have decided to keep his performance at hand whilst watching Goodfellow, Gimcrack & Formcast Special.
Which brings me, long windedly, to my question which is, have you ever featured The Captain within this bet?
I have also been following The Sun’s four, Templegate, Tom Pepper, Sun Ratings and Pegasus, again I have always like both Pegasus and Tom Pepper who both have featured over the past 3 days whilst Templegate & Sun Ratings are looking quite dire.
Which I guess then creates an additional question of the possibilty of an amalgam of favourite tipsters, do you think this could generate problems should they all be
HOT?

October 2, 2009 at 20:09 #251308A question to the
thousands
of readers of this thread. If you were to bring about a selection of tipsters to be included in the
Rolling Yankee
, who would they be?
For me, I think my choice would be: –
Goodfellow – Gimcrack – Tom Pepper – Pegasus (plus the Captain if 5 were permissible).

October 2, 2009 at 20:20 #251309The sensible Perm
I used to have the multiplication for such perms but am afraid it is long gone with the sands of time.
Formath
you have 20 selections, what are you doing with them? are you perming doubles – trebles – Fourfolds – onwards and upwards to the through the card accumulator?
And then dare I ask – to what stakes?
Beypond 5 and my brain goes into meltdown.
Billy's Outback Shack
October 2, 2009 at 20:32 #251310billion,
The way I suggested following the rolling yankee is to reduce the bet to one-a-day. You can bet as many sequences on as many tipsters as you can afford
.
In fact looking at the RP naps table I’m not sure who as the RP tipsters and Robin Goodfellow are currently well down the table as is Templegate and Newsboy. I put up Robin Goodfellow, Gimcrack and Formcast as they were the tipsters I started with and I still take the Daily Mail, so they are easy to find.Hi Pete,
When I wrote ‘sensible perm’ I meant the one I had posted but not explained very well, in fact the 11 bets from 6 selections are:
Doubles – 12,23,34,45,56
Trebles – 135,136,146,246
Accumulators – 1256, 2345The first double 12 was up today and would have returned 9.5 points of the 11 staked, but for the 15p in the £1 reduction, so it would not have been too painful.
October 3, 2009 at 01:22 #251357No worries
Formath
our selection SPINNING came second at 5/1 but we are still playing with their money tomorrow
