"So, a bet is made or struck, whatever, and in the recent case won at 2/1, should it have been coupled with a 2nd selection as per a normal double 3 points or pounds in this case would go forward to the 2nd selection and if it wins you collect, end of bet."
I, personally would only bet 2 points on the second selection.
Therefore, if the second selection loses your betting bank stays the same – you haven’t won anything but, more importantly you haven’t lost anything.

October 25, 2009 at 15:25 #255305I like your thinking
Matron
and it is something I considered today and as it happend would have been the correct thing to do.
MrE
makes reference to preserving his profit and am in truth in favour of this approach or the other tactic of when a large field betting each way.
This whole concept is new to me and as yet have to find my personal "comfort zone". Today I have played the bets as if they were doubles making both selections at the same time. Only time will tell how things end and is the joy of starting all these ideas with small stakes and then no great damage or harm can ever be accomplished.
In the past when trying fresh (to me) systems I have adhered 100% to the rules but with age sometimes comes a little wisdom and slowly I am starting to understand this does not always have to be so and it is possible to adapt any system to suit your own ideas.
I do think I did this with
Formath’s
ROLLING YANKEE stating I was not comfortable rolling ALL the winnings forward which may not have matched the ideal or target aim of the concept but suited myself.
In conclusion I am not stating you are right or wrong in keeping your bank in tact because no one wants to make you do what you may find uncomfortable and am pleased you have an opinion which although I did not comply with I did in fact agree with.

I am still not quite sure how to play this bet, checking my morning papers (not Racing Post) I found 3 to qualify, being: –
RACY 1.20 Lingfield, TACTIC 3.00 Leicester and BRADDOCK 4.40 Kempton however on checking available prices (Odds Checker) all 3 fell below 2/1, however BRADDOCK was just available with Betfair at 21/10 but the £2 minimum left me out.On reading the bet structure it looks as if the providing forecast is the guide and NOT price available?????
BRADDOCK 4.40 Kempton has moved out to 2/1.

Today’s experiment
which if wins will become part 1 of a rolling double
2.20 Haydock TAE KWON DO £1 @ 5/4 Wm Hill*I was about to start an experiment with Formcast of selecting the 4 largest forecast s.p’s as a possible replacement to the 4th fc fav because selections have been a little thin on the ground of late and this way I can guarantee 4 to make 6 doubles. As it happend 3 were the formcast 4th favs anyway so I have today added one more selection.
*Todays experiment, is yet another hy-brid of suggestions made via this thread with a little extra of my own to find one per day: –
Search Sporting Life web site overnight for all fc favs with a price close as poss to 2/1 (above or below) then check all possible selections for a match with the race VERDICT below the card and then make the final cut with the one which is closest to 2/1 and back regardless of price (which may not be as big as 2/1 as per today). If it bomb badly it’s shelf life will be very short.
It is experimental as all searches tend to be but I feel the Rolling Double bets require a high strike rate in order to succeed and make the most of shorter prices and as yet am not too happy with progress made from current methods.

The start of a new month can be a good time to revaluate how things are going and make changes if required.
The Rolling Double
The selection process is poor and is obvious the Naps Table is not the place to find high strike rate selections. So starting today the Sporting Life 2/1 idea will be given a run, it found a winner yesterday and £3 from the returns will be used to wipe out losses so far and the balance (75p) will be added to todays stake.
Lingfield 2.30
JADALEE
£1.75 @ 7/4 Coral
The Rolling Multi
Again the same thought process with regard to selection finding requires a better strike rate than current method and so as from today the Sporting Life shortest odds idea will be given a run along with a minor staking change, starting with £3 then £2 reducing to £1 and then another £1
Carlisle 2.05
KILLYGLEN
£3 @ 1/1 P Power
3 vs The Field
The race finding method could not find any selections today but will run without any changes.
Formcast
never on a Sunday, as ratings are not available. However changes are afoot. Perhaps the old maxim regarding not fixing what does not require mending etc. comes to mind but again it is not every day where 4th+ favourites can be found and despite being the most profitable method of the group some tinkering is at hand. Various ideas have been flirted with but off forum results yesterday forced it into contention and deserves a run. Forecast favourites which are top rated by Formcast will be the only ones to be considered with the largest quoted starting prices are to be chosen to make 3 – 4 – 5 cross doubles with prices taken from the Mail.

November 5, 2009 at 10:17 #257205A major problem with "system players" should they incorperate a betting forecast within the rules is just how unreliable they can be.
As an example my Rolling Double selections are made from horses as close to 2/1 as poss. in the betting forecast.
RIPTIDE was 2/1 and so was SONNY MULLEN
My Rolling Multi selection is made again from the same betting forecast and is required to be as close to 1/1 but not less than.
LAST OF THE BUNCH was forecast 11/10
All 3 were as near perfect as possible but looking at the early prices this morning I thought I had managed to "cock it all up" after making the bets when I noticed all had been turned upside down.
RIPTIDE fcSp 2/1 available 6/4 [SONNY MULLEN FcSp 2/1 available 1/1
then . . .LAST OF THE BUNCH FcSp 11/10 available 5/2
What on earth is one supposed to do?
My personal MO is to stick with the plan, if the rule is to run with forecast prices I do so and don’t change my mind . . .
famous last words!
