@BlackcountryKid
No need to ask BCK you’re tips are most welcome here and look forward to hearing some of your thoughts for next Thursday’s Meydan meeting.
Well done with Moment Of Silence placed in the first, it was a tricky day today and some exciting finishes especially Magic Lily and Suedois in the last.See you next Thursday and good luck with your Thread on the TR&N’s section. Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 16, 2020 at 17:51 #1479934Well done FF I also gave Suedois a good write up today and telling no lies I put him in as my winning horse last night and then swapped him out for Major Partnership …I was that close to making a profit today
Only £5 down on the day, could have been so much worse.
Come back and do it all again next week but even better than the last 3 ..
Ever the optimist..
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 16, 2020 at 17:56 #1479935With Magic Lily winning today – 9/2 taken – £55.00 returned on a £60 stake.
C/f
-£13.85Graham hope you backed EW on some of your horses today and that the trip to the dentist didn’t cost you too much out of your winning stash. Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 16, 2020 at 19:15 #1479942Got back a short time ago, only the 1 winner with Magic Lily who got there by the skin of her
teeth. Well done Jac getting the 9/2, the money really came for her. I should have taken George
Villiers, 14/1, and Summerghand, 11/1, e/w if I had enough sense….not my strong suit
but I did have Above N Beyond e/w at 20/1 so I was in profit by the end of the day. Fortunately
Mrs G hadn’t swallowed the tooth Jac, so the dentist was able to just cement it back in. I did
suggest before we left that I could do it for her and watch the racing, but she was having none
of it. The ingratitude of some peopleWell done with Suedios FF, the last race is always the best race of the day to win
Nice to see you in here Blackcountry, good luck if you’re throwing your hat into he ring
next weekJanuary 16, 2020 at 22:34 #1479965Well done with your 20/1 Above And Beyond EW Graham and for keeping in profit.
Wish I’d listened to my inner self and gone Suedois for the last, I knew he would run a good race…he always does.
Anyway have to try harder next week as
-£13.85 down against a total stake of £171.00 for 3 Meydan Thursdays and a few away bets at Chelmsford AW.Glad all worked out with Mrs BigG’s tooth Graham and hopefully you are enjoying catching up with those races now..Jac

Don’t usually do Meydan Saturdays but there are two ex-William Haggas Sheikh Hamdam horses both running tomorrow that I have seen at Newmarket running in pretty decent races, Jim Crowley up on both and thought might just have a small win and EW double on both of them…..
2.40 – Lincoln Navigator (Handicap) (Dirt) – 6 Furlongs
ALKAAMEL – £5 WIN @ 8/1
I last saw this horse run on 2000 Guineas day at Newmarket last year when he was 2nd to Pogo over 1 mile in a Class 2 and also in the race was Certain Lad (6th) who won here on Thursday at 33/1 for Mick Channon in a Listed Handicap beating some decent Godolphin horses including Dream Castle and Art Du Val.Alkaamel has had just the one run at Meydan since changing stables, in December 2019, a 7f Handicap on the dirt, he was slowly away and finished 5th but will be much sharper this time and should go close and hopefully win.
Little bit worried about the distance of 6f and the dirt track as it will be only his 2nd time and he’s going to need a flying start so come on Jim….3.50 – Lincoln Corsair (Handicap)(Dirt) – 1m2f
HAKEEM – £5 Win @ 11/1
Newmarket 21st July 2018 Hakeem then trained by W.Haggas won a Class 3 Handicap over 7f from Richard Hannon’s Rogue. He has been out of training since his last race at Kempton 8th Sept. 2018 where he was 3rd in a Class 2 Handicap over 1 mile to War Glory only beaten three quarters of a length. No idea what went wrong after that but now he is back running in a relatively low class Handicap but needing to prove that he handles the dirt track and can do the extra 2 furlongs. At 11/1 I’m willing to take that chance.£5 Win Alkaamel – 8/1
£5 WIN Hakeem – 11/1
£1 EW Double£12.00 Staked
Best of luck if you have a dabble tomorrow, hoping it might bring me back into profit for next Thursday, but keeping it small…Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 18, 2020 at 21:06 #1480211-£25.85
That didn’t go to plan.
Looking to some good runnrrs on Thursday to get back on track.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 22, 2020 at 17:03 #1480524Trip any views tomorrow
GIFTS OF THE GODS in 1st race I like
ROYAL MEETING in final race
While if Jack comes into thread he know what I say next my good pal EQUILATERAL is running tomorrow be my 3bets any views on races
And see stable tour of Godolphin in RP few days ago good news for me was MILITARY MARCH not there happy he at home he my derby horse on him at 33/1
Will you be doing a darkhorses thread for 3yos as I look at Gosden 2yos who won on AW I will see if any of them develop into stars for Derby or Oaks
January 22, 2020 at 17:12 #1480525-£25.85
Need to claw a little back this Thursday and in hindsight with reports of a rain damaged track last Thursday I think we can draw a line under most of those bad runs. Cutting some of my bets a little this week to try to reduce the loss of last Thursday.
2.30 .. P & O Marinas (H’cap) Turf – 1m2f
GIFTS OF GOLD (10)
3rd to Universal Order and my Pablo Escobarr over 1m4f last time out running out of steam in the final 2 furlongs.
Improving with every race this will suit him better.
Dubai Future only ran 3 times as a three year old and never in higher than Class 5. Something to prove here.
GIFTS OF GOLD – £5 WIN – 4/1 (Bet Victor)3.05 – UAE 1000 Guineas (Dirt) – 1 Mile
FINAL SONG (8) virtually unbackable for me at 5/6 but feel she is the class act here and was running on at 1 mile impressively to catch Down On The Bayou and assert to the winning post. Expect Down On The Bayou to put in another good run tomorrow.
FINAL SONG 5/6 TO WIN – No Bet3.40 .. Dubai Dash – 5f
CASPIAN PRINCE (3)/EQUILATERAL (6)
Second to Almaanara in the Sprint two weeks Caspian can take this.
Splitting my bet here with a tenner on Equilateral who seems the class horse here having run 2nd to Mabs Cross in the Palace House Stakes on 2000 Guineas day at Newmarket last year and this is easier.
CASPIAN PRINCE £5 WIN -7/2 Betfred
EQUILATERAL £10 WIN – 15/8 William Hill4.15 .. Al Bastakiya Trial – (Conditions) – Dirt – 1m1.5f
FIRST VIEW (2)
Was aimed too high in the UAE 2000 Guineas last time out and this is easier. Tricky race but the price appeals.
FIRST VIEW – £5 WIN 10/1 Coral4.50 ..Al Fahidi Fort – Group 2 – 7 furlong – Turf
MUBTASIM (2)
Tricky race here but think Mubtasim must be my choice, he likes to be up front and last year ran two good races at the track. Mythical Magic found one better in this race last year in D’bai and Royal Meeting beat the top class Hermosa in 2018 at Chantilly, but that was his best effort in 4 career runs.
MUBTASIM – £5 WIN 6/1 CORAL5.25 ..Jebel Ali (H’cap) – Dirt – 1m2f
DUBAI ICON (4)
Missed the break when 7/2 Favourite last time out making up ground throughout the race down the inside rail. Switched to middle track but got blocked and finished with a magnificent flourish to gain 5th position only 3/4 length behind the winner. With C.Soumillon up this time hoping he gets off to a flying start and avoids all perils on the way to the winning post.
DUBAI ICON – 9/2 Ladbrokes – £10 WIN*******************************
STAKE – £40.00
******************************Look forward to hearing all your thoughts on tomorrow races and be lucky…
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 22, 2020 at 18:45 #1480529Dazzler that’s hilarious he’s out at Meydan now. Might well suit him, if i remember last year getting to the front early is a major advantage. Is it still guys?
I don’t follow this racing too much, but i can certainly see the Gift of Gold selection from yous. Must have a great chance.
Could Chasing Dreams do better here? As long as there’s no rain back against fillies? The group 2 looks very decent, wouldn’t have a fancy it’s so competitive.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 22, 2020 at 18:57 #1480530Nothing jumped out for to me this week
Gd luck with your selections
January 22, 2020 at 18:58 #1480531Hi Darren
Sorry I missed your post I think we were both posting around the same time.Yes I’m with you on the 1st Race I think you mean’t Gifts Of Gold although he could certainly be a Gift from the Gods if he wins
Really like your choice for the last..Royal Meeting if he can reproduce that 2018 form but have to stick with Dubai Icon who sprouted wings to gain 5th position in his last race after a bad start and being blocked in.
With you again on Equilateral Darren and just had a little saver on Caspian Prince as he ran so well in the Sprint last time against a horse I really like Almaanara.
Almaanara flopped badly last week but have since discovered that Meydan track was recovering from heavy floods and a lot of fancied horses didn’t run their racesBest of luck with your 33/1 Ante Post wager on Military March for The Derby Darren and best of luck tomorrow.
Will look out for your 3yo Dark Horses Thread, it will be interesting to see how those Gosden AW horses progress next season. If I’ve got any to add will come up and visit your Thread.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 22, 2020 at 19:16 #1480534Hi Jack
Thanks for popping in and your input.
I too was wondering if Chasing Dreams might improve on that run against Platinum Star but this race is a step up in class for her and I think she might struggle to get close to Final Song.
Think we might see most improvement from Dubai Love Jac@FinalFurlong91
Best of luck if you do decide to have a bet FF.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 23, 2020 at 12:59 #1480593Morning Jac and all, they look pretty difficult today but I’ll have a bash
2.30 Kasaman 16/1 Paddy Power 5 places
He has shown some decent form over in France although he seemed to have gone off
the boil over his latter runs. He has since been gelded and moved to David Simcock
who I think is a terrific trainer of middle distance horses. His draw, being widest
of all, is a bit of a concern otherwise I’d be lumping on him, but I think he will be
coming through late on and might get his head in front. He’s a very solid e/w.3.05 Down On Da Bayou 6/1 Paddy Power
He was beaten by Final Song last time out when caught late on but he wasn’t stopping
and the extra furlong should suit. He likes to get out there early and he’s well drawn
in 3 to do juat that. Final song is a threat, but I’m more frightened of Chasing Dreams
and I have him down as 2nd in the bonus competition.3.40 Amomentofmadness 15/2 Bet365
He’s not got the best draw, but he should be able to get out and tac over although he’ll
have Caspian Prince to deal with for the lead. He has run well in decent races in the UK
and although it didn’t work out when favourite last time out, on his first run over here,
I think he’s better than that.4.15Princess Bride 15/2 Skybet
I found this really difficult and changed my mind a few times, but with nothing really
standing out I’ll take a chance that having run reasonably well in the UK, she has the
potential to progress if she takes to the dirt.4.50Mythical Magic 6/4 Bet365
I’m not really a favourite backer, but if I backed anything else I’d be backing something
that I think wouldn’t win. He hasn’t done much over here but he clearly likes it over there
and I think he can step up from his runner up in this last year.
the dirt.5.25 George Villiers 10/1 paddy Power
I put George up last week and he was finishing best of all in 3rd. I had him at 14/1 but he
went off at 8/1 so there was a fair bit of money for him. It’s a quick turnaround but he wasn’t
given a hard time last week so he might be up to this. That’s my lot Jac, best of luck all with your bets and in the Godolphin competition too
January 23, 2020 at 14:26 #1480599Thanks Graham
Best of luck to you too, not long now to the first. JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 23, 2020 at 19:27 #1480629Well done with George Villiers 10/1 Graham Yourloyalty paid off and spot on with noticing he was gently treated last race
Unlike me you must be up on the last 4 weeks..
I got a nice couple of winners for the Fantasy League Comp today..Dubai Future and Dubai Love. Final Song 3rd and Mythical Magic 2nd.
Look forward to seeing you back next week.Jac
@Darren
Bet you were jumping up and down cheering Equilateral home Darren
He was my only winner today £28.75 returned for 15/8 so £11.25 down on the day ..glad I kept the bets smaller it could have been so much worse.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 24, 2020 at 01:04 #1480650A nice lift to your Godolphin competition Jac, and 15/8 was a bit of a steal for Equilateral.
He looked like a proper horse and Darren you must be well pleased with him tooYes I am well up Jac, courtesy of my 1st week though. I was sitting fairly pretty after the
2nd last Gladiator King at 12s, and Final Song 100/30 earlier on, so although I already had
my bet on Universal Order at 10s, I was able to have a decent further wager so it was a great
start. Week 2 was the opposite, lost my stake on the lot . Even so I was still well
up. Week 3 I was up, but not to any great tune. Week 4 salvaged on the last at 10s, so up again
but not to any great tune. I haven’t been keeping a + or – on here, my stake at the start of
play is nearly always a tenner e/w if 20/1 or above (sometimes 16s) or 20 on the nose. If I’m
well up I might splash out without hurting myself, as in the last on day 1. Although you wouldn’t
think it by my (your old) Saturday pick 3 competition, probably the worse start I’ve had in it,
I’ve had a very decent couple of months, golf (as per Darren’s thread) and racing wise so Cheltenham
is already taken care of and I wont dip into it if even if the well runs dry between now and then. The betting is secondary to the enjoyment I get from watching or being at the races, I suppose it’s
the icing on the cake if it’s going well. I’m really enjoying the Meydan festival and I’ve got yourself
to that for getting me into that Jac, I wouldn’t have botherered tuning into it in years gone by. Let’s
hope we can get a good run before the big Carnival meeting in March and enjoy it come what may -
