Really glad you came into this Graham and are enjoying it so much.
I’ve said before that I absolutely love these Godolphin horses, they are so beautifully bred and Charlie Appleby and SBS certainly know how to bring them on after just one race and that’s why week after week a horse that has lagged behind in his previous race improved 99% on his next run, it’s a puzzle to work them out but I enjoy trying.

The best part is when they come back to Newmarket after being in the Winter Sun and look head and shoulders above some of the other runners that have wintered in the UK but they don’t always take to being back in the freezing cold and sometimes you have to make allowances for that.

As much as I love winning and taking money from the bookie like you for me it’s definitely the horse first over any betting and I never bet more than I can afford. At Newmarket it’s usually £20 a race staked max and sometimes it will be 2 horses, one each way and one to win, that seems to work very well, I’ve got enough from my winnings last year at the track to take me well into the 2020 flat season in profit. It helps that I am a Member at Newmarket, it’s my combined Christmas/Birthday present from my husband every year so admission expenses don’t form part of the equasion when counting a profit on the day.

I wouldn’t normally have put stakes by my choices but thought that as this a Lays and Plays section it would be interesting to see if I am turning a profit or not, it’s not working out too bad even though I’m running at a loss over the 4 week period….Having gone back 4 weeks to work out my outlay I have come out with the correct figures of….

    Stakes … £223
    Returns .. £189.25
    Loss ….. £33.75

Going forward to next Thursday it should take just one decent winner like your George Villiers to put me back in profit but I’m not going to worry too much about that and just carry on enjoying the challenge. :good:

Well done to yourself and Darren and all the gang doing so well on the Golf, I know absolutely zero in that department only a few names come to hand and I learned them from watching Tennable one after noon..LOL

Look forward to next Thursday Graham and will keep an eye out for any of Charlie Appleby’s running at my local track Chelmsford as he seems to lay them out for one or two there..

Good luck in the Fantasy League next week, it’s so frustrating when you want to add horses but can’t because of losing valueable swaps…that will be me next week so relying on a Bonus race ha ha.

Morning Jac, on attheraces website trainers talks about him in his stable tour, said along the lines,he is the tallest horse in the yard and has been a bit coltish since arriving.
He was thinking of starting him off in February.

Thanks nw :good: That would make me wonder if he is best watched first time out.
I m having a better look later at the card but thinking I might just go for one or two this week it looks the trickiest week especially with the reappearance of Barney Roy..any news on him? :mail: Jac

Charlie Appleby said they are working backward from the Jebel Hatta. Also said they have given him the break since his last run (Queen Anne) with the carnival in mind.

Evens was available for a few minutes, best now 8/11 WH/skybet :good:

Gonna give drafted one more chance in the 5:25 and hope he doesnt give them all a 10 length head start like last time

If he can keep in touch at the back in the first 2 furlongs I think he will be very hard to beat

5/2 just about big enough to be worth going in again

Will have a proper look at the other races later tonight

I’m 100% with you on DRAFTED FF :good: Just writing up a few for tomorrow I have about 4 that I’m backing. Good luck and also nwalton with Dee Ex Bee but I think I’m backing against him even though they’re backing him like a good thing.

I won’t be backing Dee Ex Bee jac, if he gets any shorter I will probably lay for a few pennies.
Managed to get a few Bob e/w on swimsuit @ 5/1( when I say a few bob that should read shillings)
Will play a small ew bet Firament, as he is most likely run his race

Cant believe theyve let barzalona on him again after his “effort” in the cadran

I was on call the wind that day, thinking I’d be guaranteed a strong pace for call the wind to aim at thanks to dee ex bee just for barzalona to not push the pace up front

Cost my horse the race and dee ex bee any of winning as well

Think it may be difficult for him to give all that weight away on his first run, dubhe is the one that appeals but gonna wait to see what the prices are saying tomorrow

Bit late with this tonight as have the family round for their dad’s birthday celebrations on Friday, been hectic but hopefully I’ve managed to sort out a few that will win and bring the Thread back into the green tomorrow. :good: Here we go :mail: :mail: ………..

    Tuesday 30th January 2020
    MEYDAN
    3.05 – Group 2 – 1m1f (Turf)

I’m giving DREAM CASTLE **NAP** one more chance to prove himself the horse that I know he is…I’m drawing a line under his last awful run as the track was badly affected by the heavy floods that had hit Dubai that week (more than they let on). This is his chance to shine.
For me Barney Roy is much too short a price and has something to prove. He needs to be smartly away and have grown out of his habit to jink to the left or right whilst racing. With these problems ironed out he is, of course, a danger.
Loxley has never won at Meydan and Mountain Hunter will find this harder than past lower grade races.

DREAM CASTLE **NAP** .. 5/1 (Ladbrokes)

    3.40 .. Listed Handicap – 1m6f – (Turf)
Dee Ex Bee could romp home being the only Group horse here running in a Handicap but you cannot rule out UNIVERSAL ORDER who impressed when beating Pablo Escobarr, a horse that I think a lot off and he unlike a lot of the runners here he will get the distance and could prove worth backing tomorrow.

    4.15 – Handicap – 1m (Dirt)
DUBAI LEGACY – 4/1 Paddy Power
I really like this horse and seeing that this is an easier race than his last run I’m backing him to come home the winner this time.

    5.25 – Group 3 – 6f (Dirt)
    DRAFTED – 13/8 (Ladbrokes)
The amount of ground that Drafted made up after blowing the start last time out was mega impressive and he truly deserves another chance here in the race he won last year.
Ibn Malik should again go close.

    6.00 – Handicap – 1m2f – (Turf)
    AMERICAN GRAFFITI(13)
A whole host of Godolphin horses charging down the track for this one and none of them very well drawn but I’m taking a chance that American Graffitti will lead them home, it’s the trickiest race of the night so taking a chance here with fingers well and truly crossed but he has beaten Universal Order last year so will be watching that one earlier and hoping he runs well and gives a heads up to American Graffiti. :good:

So with no bets in the 4.50 here are my bets for tomorrow…

3.05 .. DREAM CASTLE *NAP* .. 5/1 (Ladbrokes) – £20 WIN (My biggest bet yet Hein :good: )
    3.40 .. UNIVERSAL ORDER .. 11/2 .. £5 WIN
    4.15 .. DUBAI LEGACY 4/1 (Paddy Power) .. £10 WIN
    5.25 .. DRAFTED .. 13/8 (Ladbrokes) .. £10 WIN
    6.00 .. AMERICAN GRAFFITI .. 9/1 (Paddy Power) .. £5 WIN

    Stake .. £50.00

Hoping to get back into profit tomorrow.

Look forward to hearing your views Graham and all welcome to post their views on tomorrows card at Meydan.
Good luck FF19 let’s hope Drafted gets off to a flyer and wins by 6 lengths like he should have done last time out. :rose:

LOL nw I couldn’t find Swimsuit anywhere how on earth did spellcheck turn Simsir into Swimsuit  ..anyway glad to hear you’ve dived in on that one ;-) best of luck.
I think Dee Ex Bee might turn out to be worth laying later in the day so good luck with him and also with Firmament or Ornament as spellcheck would like him known. ;-) Jac

You are right that I still read here Jac :bye:
To be honest I find the cards getting worse every week :-( , so I will only watch again..
I wish you to land in the green, particularly to score with your giant stakes  on DC :good:

Thanks Hein :good: I think this is Dream Castle’s chance to show how good he is and for punters to get on at a reasonable price.
Like Barney Roy he has a Group 1 race under his belt and I think Barney Roy is much too short considering he has to prove himself at the track although he has a lof of class which could see him through.
I know you think the cards are pretty bad but I love trying to solve a puzzle and every week Godolphin throw a mixed bag of horses into a race and say ‘sort that one out’…Must be mad but I can’t resist the challenge. LoL :rose: Jac
