Excellant pick Firefox, well done mate.
Delighted for Ralph and Seb too, so deserving. Top 10 trainer, possibly even top 5 (under rated). Always does well with the quality of horse he has. The two jockey.

Value Is EverythingJune 6, 2008 at 16:47 #166896Well done Firefox – was it you who had the £400 e/w at 40/1 with Bill Hill yesterday?
Have just spoken to Kate Miller from William Hill and they are going 16/1 Look Here for the King George. (11/4 Soldier Of Fortune and 10/3 Getaway)
Should Look Here not be 16’s to run in the King George?
June 6, 2008 at 16:54 #166900Papal Bull definitely is not a ‘dog’.
PMSL at Papal Bull’s head carriage in the Coronation Cup and the insistence of some that still think he is of sound temperament.
June 6, 2008 at 17:18 #166911Congrats, firefox, great call and an even better mensh!

Can’t have you saying "get in my son" tho’!!! tut tut no sons in The Oaks.
I like Ralph Beckett as a trainer.
Bugger all of her is there?……..not one you would back from paddock inspection.

June 6, 2008 at 17:47 #166917"Mensh" = mention in Zorro’s blog!

"Oh, and the "son" was reference to the "evergreen "I have to say" Mr Sebastian Sanders" – copyright Mr C Duval !!!!"
OK, I’ll accept that.

Colin
June 6, 2008 at 18:05 #166920……..but they can’t take today away from you, nohow.

June 6, 2008 at 18:06 #166922Very good bit of tipping that Firefox.
As good as the result was and with the price at 33-1 i would now not back Look Here in her next race because as the old saying goes "If you didnt go to the wedding dont go to the funeral".
June 6, 2008 at 18:15 #166925I’m just annoyed that I picked her out (I must confess to not having mch faith in Seb Sanders after his effort behind Miracel Seeker) and ended up backing Michita and Katiyra.
But you can’t take anything away from the winner, despite her 33/1 price tag; she travelled exceptionally well, showed a decent turn of foot and beat some talented fillies fairly comfortably.
I’m pleased for Ralph Becket and similarly so (almost) for Sanders, despite him being Tamworth-born.
June 6, 2008 at 18:18 #166928Congrats, firefox, great call and an even better mensh!

A mensh? Is that some sort of Welsh delicacy, Col?
Shocking stuff.

June 6, 2008 at 20:01 #166959Super call Firefox, big well done.

Spoken like a true Timeform camp follower, DJ.
Wonder how much they’ve cost their acolytes evey time he’s had his ground and the pace, (6 out of 7 so far
)?Well done, Firefox.
June 6, 2008 at 20:58 #166975Reet,
Is this the same Papal Bull that got behind early, carried his head high and only got going when the race was won? Like we said he would.Don’t know about him costing Timeform subscribers. From what I remember he was top rated for some of those wins.

Value Is EverythingJune 6, 2008 at 21:17 #166984Fantastic selection firefox.
I wish I’d have seen it as I always back crazy (or not so crazy) selections like this. What a lovely fellow Beckett is! I remember when he took over the Lambourn outfit of his boss, Peter Walwyn, ex-Champion trainer and one of the first stables to train for the Maktoum family.
“The first thing I had to do was deal with the horseboxes coming to take Sheikh Hamdan’s horses away from the yard…”,
I always rooted for him from that point. And the same bottle green silks as worn by the thrilling handicapper Kayvee bagging a classic! Love it.
June 6, 2008 at 21:47 #166997he said he she probably wouldn’t go to Ireland as she needs time between her races….I’m very impressed with her trainer and really pleased for him. she had a good write up on ceefax the other day and I expected her price to come in with the ground being a bit soft, but it was as if she didn’t exist.
June 7, 2008 at 04:03 #167036"The big guns of Aidan O’Brien and John Oxx could only fill second (Moonstone) and third (Katiyra), with favourite Lush Lashes fifth". Read more . . .
Quoting from The Racing Post may I point to the word only. Surely if we want to make something out of The Oaks finishing second and third deserves more credit than only second in the Oaks or for the Aga Khan only finished third in the Oaks. Last year’s second was some horse better in fact than the winner.Do I detect a little jealousy towards the rustic Oirish by the Godolfin leaning newspaper?June 7, 2008 at 06:32 #167043

MarkPredicting that he would get beaten, on the wrong ground, his seasonal debut, and against the highest class field he has met fto, is hardly genius is it?
Neither is crabbing his running-on 4th in such circumstances, making this his best ever reappearence, and promising even more successes for we ‘dog’ backers.
June 7, 2008 at 08:33 #167054My claim to fame: I started the thread.

And technically (where’s the delete button for that Cape Amber post of mine?) – Firefox and I jagged the quinella.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
