Lesters win on royal acadeny one of my fav racing moments. A brilliant timed run that still gives me goosebumps watching it.

It was purely by chance. I was visiting my cousin in Birmingham and her sister was seeing a guy who was into racing. We went to his house that evening and he had the Breeders Cup on. I guess that’s why I feel so strongly about racing being on terrestrial television so that a chance viewing by someone can spark an interest that stays with them for life.

So as with The Old Roan, they have a programme specifically to show The Haldon Gold Cup and then don’t bother showing the horses in the parade ring.
At least they got lucky with the sun going in after forcing Exeter to move the race from 1.50 to 3.35

Much as it makes me sick to say it, I’m enjoying the US coverage. Obviously easier with parades for every race but the focus on horses is positive. Hope ITV are looking and learning

Itvs coverage is better than SSR I’m finding, too many adverts on SSR as usual

The quality of the US coverage is way way way above what we get in our British and Irish races

It’s what makes the breeders cup such a good watch, I normally flick to other channels between races because we get segments on bloody fashion and other nonsense

But not when the breeders cup is on

Yeah I’ve suffered through some awful NBC racing broadcasts over the years but the Breeders’ Cup coverage this year has been remarkably good. Just the right balance of human interest stories and race analysis. They are on a slight (~30s) delay compared to the track feed but not too bad.

I don’t understand why Rachel Candelora is not part of RTV’s coverage, unless she is working for another channel instead. If not, it seems unfair to overlook her in favour of Naomi Tukker who seldom appears on the channel.

“ we get segments on bloody fashion and other nonsense”

Oli Bell did his best earlier by looking at the beer prices (remarkably steep) but that was it.

Agree the American coverage is superior to ITV, RTV & SS, they actually show the horses in the paddock and going to post albeit at the walk. And if a horse is injured or pulled up in a race, they actually get the story whereas in the UK the faller etc is usually ignored, like today and yesterday.

Incidentally, I am now a fully signed up member of the Harley fan club. What a magnificent animal he is!

I wonder if they have a no socks, cocaine, looking for a fight brigade at the breeders cup

If they don’t I’d be very interested in making it a holiday at some point

    Agreed yeats :good:
As soon as an injured horse was taken away the on call veterinary was interviewed with an update it was very reassuring to hear, unlike our ITV coverage where no such information is given until some time after the incident.

It was a very enjoyable programme and the Cody’s Wish story totally captivating. I was cheering him home for Cody Dorman and challenge anyone to not have had a tear in their eye after he won. :rose: Jac

Love ITV coverage myself; cant stand the likes of Luck & co – so far up their own back sides.

I like the way NBC show the first six horses’ names (with SP) during the race.

Delighted to say I watched all the races on my betting app – didn’t tune into ITV at all.

It was just a USA feed and it was superb.

Listening to a Hoiles commentary for a change. John Hunt on other channel who’s commentary makes Hoiles sound like a multiple deserved award winner ;o)

Mick Fitz said something interesting earlier, yes, I’ve had a lay down since. its why he should, if they have to have him keep him to jumps as he is an ex jump jockey.
Why on earth he needs to be seen on the screen when Flat racing is on is a strange one imo
