Agreed Clive, used to talk to Ken occasionally when I used to go racing too. Not something I knew much about tbh but Ken obviously Knew/knows his stuff around the paddock. Glad he’s being used by ITV.

Terrestrial/free to air sport is sadly a dying breed. That said, such sport that does still exist is for the masses. If the coverage (and I’m not just talking racing here) upsets a couple of dozen anoraks on an obscure Internet forum then I would suggest that it is doing its job.

If one is paying for sports coverage through Sky/BT/RUK et al then they should of course be held to much higher standards as such coverage should be aimed at the die hard fans.

I’m not quite sure why a sport presented with expertise and knowledge would only appeal to anoraks. The best said about ITV’s racing coverage is that it shows it. The personnel are dire and style banal.
Are viewers really attracted to the like of Chamberlin & Cumani telling us that the favs have failed to win in 8 out the last 10 runnings of a certain race? As opposed to Luck & Hislop telling us something useful?
And why anyone would be attracted by someone continually shouting throughout their performance is a mystery. Even Richard Hoiles has got into the mad shouting at the end of big races, no doubt encouraged by ITV.

If I watch a TV programme about a subject about which I know little I nevertheless want to encounter intelligent, articulate, people who are manifestly expert on their subject matter.

As opposed to a couple of pretty boy goons (Social Stable) or some posh bird who sounds like an advert for nepotism being alive and well and keeping that nasty notion equality of opportunity in its place in the 21st century.

As I don’t engage in social media I’m unable to send the suggestion I’m making.
Sent a message to the ‘social stable’,as regrettable as it is to ask someone to lower themselves to doing so,and simply inform ITV racing of this thread and perhaps after reading they would care to reply and engage on a regular basis?
I won’t be holding my breath that the tweet would be mentioned let alone a reply being posted here.
I just like the idea of our voice being heard by those connected with the programme.
    good luck to all

Even with the mute button deployed it is manifestly apparent that ITV Racing are employing Rishi Persad nowadays.

    There are no words….

Although still infinitely preferable to the gormless, vacuous “eye candy” apparently also employed by the broadcaster.

The pair of deer running across the track just sent them into ‘drivel overdrive’.

The ITV team are all creaming over Dettori looking over his shoulder on a 1/2 shot. Makes him a “great showman” apparently.

Hoiles has become ‘funny’ at the end of races. Totally not his character, it sounds as if he is having a go at someone, like a heated argument with the missus. The voice goes from boring to shouty, but the shouty is well, not the best.

This sounds like a great idea in principle.

It will be interesting to see the viewing figures and betting turnover for the three days.

Having the coverage at teatime is interesting and I definitely like the idea of promoting the less well known connections.
