Not really. Perhaps it is a tacit admission that Champions Day does not work?

I’d vote for Royal Ascot as the pinnacle
Champions Day run on jumps going a few months before Christmas doesn’t quite cut it imo

There’s a lot of racing but there’s not a single race across the entire 5 days that you could say is the best in that division in that season. The Queen Anne lacks the classic generation. The sprints are pretty much the same standard/horses throughout the year. The POW is normally a pretty bad race as far as a middle distance group 1 at a big festival goes and this year I think is right up there in terms of being very ordinary. Its not a great Gold Cup either is it this year?

It was an utter nonsense statement as it only really relates to the social side, maybe with the odd overseas runner making an appearance and the long distance stayers but for everything else be it sprinters, the classic generation (still trying to sort out their pecking order), 2 yr olds and the older horses this is usually more of a starting point that leads on to bigger targets in the mid to later part of the season.

Narratively speaking Champions Day is supposedley the big target for all (bar the 2 yr olds) but due to its placement too late in the season you are on a lottery as to just how soft it will be thrown in with the extreme miracle year where very decent ground pops in to say hello.

Blake said the foal in Believing is the size of a grape
Adele said it was the size of a big rugby ball…

Pretty poor missing the start of any race, especially a Group 1 and by about half a furlong as well. Was no one paying attention?

Should be handing over to commentary much earlier, instead of endless waffling.

....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.

Brough Scott’s top hat looks as though it’s trying to crush him.

Champions Day should never have been moved from Newmarket.

That was extremely poor, the guy responsible should be getting his P45. No surprise Chamberlin came out with the feeble “That start caught us all by surprise” I’m afraid Ed just gets worse, not better.

It was the 5F sprint as well, wouldn’t be so bad missing the start of the Ascot Stakes but a sprint can be won and lost at the start and we didn’t see the first half furlong lol. Really poor stuff

I was at Hamilton on Sunday and nearly missed the start of the 6.45 as I was gazing upon Megan ….

I hope Miss Nicholls turns up this week. What happened to Hayley Turner never saw her again after the boating bit at the beginning where Luke Harvey gracefully said she was in foal.

The more I know the less I understand.

After studying Megan on Sunday I confirm she was fit , carrying no condition , I reckon however I’d have to carry a whip to control her as she looked a bit keen ….

Different to what I heard, which was… She was sweating up badly, wearing a hood and being held on a tight reign

RTB – I believe they said that boat bit was recorded the day before as when Docklands won they said Hayley was actually watching at home.
