I’m pretty sure they’ve shown it the last couple of years??
Shall we open it up to the floor RTB?
Dearly beloved TRF’ers….. who do you want to be with on a match race? RTB? The man with a face like a bag of spanner’s? Or the ever so handsome and charismatic TB?
Did itv show the brigadier Gerard stakes the last couple of years?? Or not??
May 29, 2025 at 20:30 #1731488Sorry, TC, but I don’t recall this meeting being on terrestrial TV.
May 29, 2025 at 20:44 #1731490Ok, not recently, but they have in the not too distant past! That’s a pint and a fiver you owe me RTB! And you Gladiatuer for ever doubting me!

The more I know the less I understand.
May 29, 2025 at 21:18 #1731493So they showed it once, in 2018, on ITV4?
You can have the fiver – it’s cheaper than a pint these days!
May 31, 2025 at 18:45 #1731712Oli Bell seems obsessed with mentioning Tipping Tom, how many times did he mention him this afternoon? Thank God Tipping Tom didn’t tip any winners again or else he would have got a lot more mentions from Oli. Why keep mentioning someone just because they’ve tipped some horses?
May 31, 2025 at 19:25 #1731715I thought the same yeats especially up to the first race he seemed to do it every 30 seconds.
The more I know the less I understand.
May 31, 2025 at 19:46 #1731717Tipping Tim would be a better option and he died in 2012.
May 31, 2025 at 21:06 #1731726I went to the 2018 Brigadier Gerrard meeting that night and I can confirm that the ITV cameras were there and they certainly picked the right time as both Poet’s Word (Brigadier Gerrard) and Without Parole (Heron Stakes) won that night en route to winning the Prince of Wales & St James’s Palace Stakes respectively at Royal Ascot next time out.
I do remember the ITV gang being set up in the middle of the parade ring and in particular Francesca Cumani doing her parade ring walk & talk thing, mainly because (on a rather dank cool evening) she was sporting an extremely form fitting pair of leather pants that actually drew much more attention from those around the paddock
than the horses that were actually parading before the races.I also vaguely remember it was a rather last minute addition to the ITV roster which also included the Friday evening meeting at Newcastle (on Northumberland Plate weekend) and that while TV viewership was actually ok for it they didn’t have any plans to show that Sandown night (or any others) going forward.
May 31, 2025 at 21:15 #1731727LD I wouldn’t mention leather trousers and Cumani ….. Hughsie is likely to require a trip to the hospital for a drip to replace the lost fluids ….
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
May 31, 2025 at 21:22 #1731729Pretty certain there were many in that crowd that night that would resemble that remark HDLG
June 2, 2025 at 18:21 #17318196.15 at Windsor. The favourite Blue Orbit bolts off with Rossa Ryan before the start. He then drifts like a barge in the betting.
SSR goes for a break. On resuming, Ryan is taking the tack off Blue Orbit. Alex Hammond says “There’s the sight we don’t want to see: the favourite has been withdrawn!”
What is she talking about? Anyone who backed the favourite was breathing a sigh of relief it was withdrawn. It had no chance after charging around the Windsor loop with the choke out.
I suppose it is frustrating for anyone who backed the winner, hit by a hefty Rule 4. But most punters will be glad to be getting their money back.
June 6, 2025 at 13:21 #1732089Why is Ruby Walsh part of RTV’s team today? I don’t recall Flat jockeys being involved in the coverage of Cheltenham and Aintree.
June 6, 2025 at 13:54 #1732095I really wish RTV would get rid of that annoying strings bit before each race they cover at big meetings.
It gets very boring, very quickly.

Maybe the same reason ITV have Mick Fitz in their coverage.
June 6, 2025 at 14:30 #1732102I see Sam Quek is back with her pearls of wisdom.
The more I know the less I understand.
June 6, 2025 at 14:54 #17321101.01 she is at Royal Ascot as well.
999 against her being at Hexham in November, when ITV goes there.
