Are we really supposed to believe this was the Dettori last year factor because I don’t, oh we must tune in this year it is Frankie’s last year. Probably more that there was a new Monarch than anything.

The more I know the less I understand.

They peaked at just under 1.3 million, Dickinson’s Real Deal apparently gets similar so, if they think it’s anything other than the usual ITV afternoon daytime audience, I reckon they’re deluding themselves tbh.

“SSR starts to show a race from Hexham but then goes to a split screen with Sha Tin and cuts away to take the commentary from Hong Kong.

I would have thought most of its audience was more interested in the Hexham race.”

Agree, that shouldn’t ever happen. Could easily have been shown after the Hexham race. Unfortunately it isn’t unusual, Sky must have an agreement that all Hong Kong races have to be shown live.

Made worse by the fact that since the end of April they had ditched their Racing Review slots in favour of just simulcasting Sky Sports News – clearly a cost cutting measure.

....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.

That is what it looks like. It does not show French racing on a split screen if there is a clash. It shows the British race uninterrupted and then shows the French race as a recording.

Totally off-topic but, without cheating and going on YouTube to check, I’m getting John Hanmer, 1977 Grand National, before handing back to Peter O’Sullevan for the final time?

A change of pronoun, but yes, absolutely correct.
