Eddie O Grady=Hero
December 11, 2009 at 16:19 #263381Looks a proper horse. Jumped beautifully all the way round.
December 11, 2009 at 23:16 #263458Alaivan out in the first at Gowran Park tomorrow Wallace.
Willie Mullins suffering a few more reversals today with Cadspeed and Drive On Regardless – possible problem in the yard? A few of them running below form so far this season and its the new additions to the yard that have been flying the flag.
Interesting reading over on Willie’s blog:

WILLIE MULLINS DIARY FRIDAY 11TH DECEMBER
Lost momentum…
I bring you this dispatch on a slightly downbeat note. Some of our runners hadn’t been running up to their best for a couple of weeks and we now know why. Basically, a lot of the horses have dirty noses and are coughing, and they are no different to you and me in the sense that their performance is affected as a result. It is disappointing because they had started the season in such good form, and a lot of the horses that are suffering are our winter horses that we should be getting cracking with now. The way things are, many of them won’t be having their first runs until Christmas, and then only if everything goes well.
The source of the problem is a lung infection and, in the heavy ground that we have right now, horses need to be able to use the full capacity of their lungs. You might get away with a bit of a lung infection on summer ground, but horses have to be able to breathe properly in heavy ground, so we are just going to have to be patient.
December 15, 2009 at 21:24 #264014Jumbajukiba going over the sticks next week. Can he stay 2 miles?
In a word – NO!
Liked that Diophas though. Looks like he’ll make a useful chaser in time.
Morning Supreme did her job very well too. Its a pity Ashigh Pearl didn’t run in that race so we’d have a better idea of how good she is.
I see Candy Creek (now with Henderson from Kiely’s) is running tomorrow at Newbury.
December 16, 2009 at 19:41 #264156AH Cracking racing.

December 17, 2009 at 13:40 #264234Might be able to get a half decent price about Alaivan if Cross Appeal runs.
The novice chase looks a right cracker. Sizing Europe v Sports Line v Osana v Captain Cee Bee
December 21, 2009 at 17:34 #264809Lets bring this thread back to life.
Rite of Passage making debut over hurdles on the 26th….Exciting
December 21, 2009 at 20:46 #264842Supposed to have schooled particularly well that Rite Of Passage. Can’t see DK wanting to take on Dunguib again and the way he galloped Donnas Palm into the ground in the November Handicap suggests to me he’ll get the 2m4 no problem.
Mikael D’Haguenet in a beginners chase on the 29th. Good to see he is still alive!
December 21, 2009 at 20:55 #264845Mikael D’Haguenet in a beginners chase on the 29th. Good to see he is still alive!
Dont tempt fate Imperial,it will be me getting kicked in the Jewels next!It hurts too,re Age of aquarius St Leger!
December 24, 2009 at 00:03 #265243Mikael D’Haguenet won’t run on the 29th according to what I’ve heard, but he will be out early in the New Year.
Saturday’s decs are very promising. Hopefully there’ll be no problems with the weather.
DK and Robbie McNamara could have a great day at Leopardstown with Rite Of Passage, Universal Truth and Elegant Concorde all likely to go off as favs. Really looking forward to Rite Of Passage’s debut over timber. Been having a few bob on for the 2m4 race at Cheltenham over the last few weeks.
Alaivan vs. Cross Appeal in the juvenile hurdle. The Meade horse has been very workmanlike so far and he has to give a few lbs to Alaivan. Irish-racing.com are forecasting 10/11 about Alaivan which would be very generous! Then again they were forecasting 4/1 or something ridiculous like that about Lethal Weapon for this race last year.
The novice chase winner will be made the antepost favourite for the Arkle but its not the only top class novice chase in Ireland on Saturday. The Greenmount down at Limerick looks an absolute cracker. Baily View, Beau Michael, Coolcashin, Dancing Tornado, Faltering Fullback, Mr Warbucks, Oscar Looby, River Liane, Sam Adams, Sports Line and Swift Counsel all taking each other on.
December 26, 2009 at 14:30 #265570Alaivan absolutely stuffed after pulling hard early. The Gigginstown horse looked a bit of a machine.
December 26, 2009 at 16:36 #265631I think it would be unwise to get too excited about the Gigginstown horse just as it was with Alaivan after a single run.
The way Whodoyouthink bolted up suggests that punters who backed Summit Meeting last time can feel pretty agrieved with what was a shocking performance.
Qoubilai looks as if he should have little trouble picking up a maiden.
Of the opinion Captain Cee Bee would have won if the jockey had been more positive and attacked the last instead of playing safe. I would argue a good race for the other Arkle contenders though as Captain Cee Bee’s confidence may have been knocked by the fall, Sizing Europe looked beaten and Osana wasn’t good enough.
December 26, 2009 at 16:49 #265638Alavian still is a horse i am going to follow. Everything went wrong today but in fairness gigginstown horse was very impressive. Problem there was no pace and he pulled the head of himself for the first mile.
Sizing Europe was poor today yet still won….he really was lazy at his fences. I would suspect he is a good 7lb better than that
December 26, 2009 at 17:37 #265657Sizing Europe might be better than that – you would have to hope so if you have an Arkle ticket. It could be he doesn’t take a lot of racing and today was perhaps one race too many for the time being.
