There is way too much obsession with the Arc. The Arc doesn’t make a great horse.

If Sea The Stars doesn’t run in the Arc it is not going to damage his reputation one bit.

It was brilliant to be there yesterday, the reception he got put the hairs on end.

If this horse lines up for the Arc, I honestly can’t see what could beat him, only a long hard season.

He’s beaten the Ballydoyle brigade many a time, I cannot envisage Conduit reversing Eclipse form even with the extra 2 furlongs. I think Stacelita has been over-rated.

The only bit of value left in the Arc market is Vision D’Etat at 12/1. I doubt he’ll win it but he’s sure to run his race and has great place prospects.

As for the "all-time great" debate, well, I am too young to comment really but I did have to appreciate yesterday as Sea The Stars did a lap of honour around the parade ring that this could be the best horse I ever see.

    A true champion.

well said, he’ll rout them in the arc, but of course you’ll have muppets on here knocking him at every chance, "zarkava would roast him" blah blah blah

Yeah, there’s no point even arguing about it because we’ll never know.

Sea The Stars has now despatched Fame And Glory, Rip Van Winkle and Mstercraftsman at least twice each, despite Ballydoyle trying every tactic possible. Sitting behind, kicking on, making it a test, making it a sprint, nothing has worked and it is safe to say Sea The Stars is head and shoulders above the rest of the three year old milers and middle distance horses.

But the only older scalp he’s taken has been Conduit, over a distance arguably too short for the Stoute horse and when Conduit was likely still not quite 100%, having been presumably been trained for the King George and with the forthcoming stresses of an Autumn campaign in mind.

He’s a ‘great’ all right but not an all-time one. Yet…

If the real Youmzain turns up in this years Arc,he will at least give us a good measure of just how good Sea the stars is compared to previous winners, should they both run obviously!Youmzain has run incredibly in the last 2 Arcs and we all know who won them, 2 Great Horses!

Other than he would be seen as a great 3yo who never ran in the Arc! I am an old school believer in that if you want to be seen as a True Champion colt, you contest "2000 gns", "Derby", "Eclipse", "King George" and "Arc"!
3 of which are against your elders!

The Juddmonte and Irish Champion are all age races as well TAPK. It is not STS fault that the older horses are a fairly modest bunch at the moment.

I am the first to say i underestimated just how good STS truly is,BUT and its a big but, what if STS wins the Arc in the same manner he has been winning all year and the enigmatic Youmzain gets into all sorts of trouble and finishes strongly to take second place beaten 1l,does that make STS a True Champion like Dancing Brave? On paper Yes,but Dancing Brave without any doubt would have flew past Youmzain!

My arse he wasn’t 100%. I last believed something a trainer said in 1993.

EDIT: a@rse is an expletive? fux sake.

You bet your silly ar$e I am……..90% of races don’t work out to form and that’s why most punters are flat broke…….go crawl back into bed Rip Van Euro where you belong.

 mug punters – I love em. It’s not bookies i’ve won my money from over the years – they’re just a conduit (ka-boom) it’s mugs like you. Keep it coming big boy.

Reading form is a skill, to say 90% of punters fall flat on their face because of reading form is complete bullshit. If you cant read form to a tee you should keep your money in your pocket.

There was a post saying Fame And Glorys tactics were wrong, they probably were wrong when it comes to his style of racing, he was a second slower on Saturday than when he raced in the Derrinstown and he had the weight on him that day, but no matter what the tactics were it will never really matter when you have a horse like Sea The Stars.

I backed him to win the Guineas on the basis when he was racing at 2 and winning his races, he was a lanky horse hardy filled out and never looked like he is today and he was still winning races on ground he didn’t like, John Oxx said last year when he becomes stronger Sea The Stars will improve massively from what he was achieving then, and he has been proved right, a wonder horse, a good looker and if you haven’t seen him race live I would suggest a trip to Paris would be in order to see a horse that we don’t see that often in horse racing.

I’m not heading over the Channel this year for the Arc, first time since 2005 that I’ve not been, but had I not already seen Sea The Stars in the Guineas, I have to say that I’d be going over to Paris without a shadow of a doubt.

I think I’ve worked out Fist’s system- he falls in love with horses beginning with the letter C: Conduit, Canford Cliffs, now Casual Conquest. That’s the only logic I can find for discussing him as a serious danger in this race. I really hope STS can complete a nap hand but wouldn’t be a backer at odds-on now on ground that must have a fair bit of dig in it. Having bravely taken the 3/1+ I’m hedging a bit back at a shade of odds-on and looking forward to being there to hopefully see history made- a great race in prospect.

I know one C I won’t be falling in love with and you for got to mention the winner I had "Cauto Star"

I think you should go and look back at the Arc results and see just how many superstars have got their backsides kicked and some by lesser lights than Conduit….Let me start you off with Park Top, Nijinsky, Authourized, Motivator, Generous etc etc etc etc all of whom sent ounters home smiling on the other side of their faces  me included on a few of them.
