Some of the Coolmore horses are desperate when it comes to search engines. I searched Palace on the Irish Racing website a couple of weeks ago and it threw over 90 matches at me. Had to scan through the list a few times before my eye fell on the one I wanted! You’d think they’d do like the RP and put the single named Palace’s at the top of the list but that would be too easy it seems.

War Front …was a project partnership that Coolmore bought into , this is the same Coolmore that dont(normally) make many mistakes , driven by the best genius John Magnier, this guy is the nuts when it comes to stallions and making fortunes …his track record is just outstanding

Methinks that War Front 2 yr olds are way ahead of others at that age , but as 3 yr olds the rest have caught up , precocity is a smashing thing to have , but it does not make for long lasting investments like most of the Coolmore success stories

    imo

This thread ended up discussing diabetes because I had a rant when posting with a sugar level of less than 3. I have apologised to the man in question and we exchange views on a civil level again because he is a sporting chap with a deep knowledge of the game.

I was on a new regime of insulin injections this past few weeks including split doses but it was hellish with blood sugars between 20 and 30 resulting. Coupled with high blood pressure, which I have just started medication for, it has been a pretty rotten month or so for me and I have made an executive decision to go back to my previous routine.

I find Pasta raises my sugars the most quickly and I was advised to stick to low glycaemic index carbs, with wholemeal versions being better and breads with multiseed or granary take longer to be absorbed into the blood. A typical meal for me would need about 20 to 24 units of insulin and the base insulin (Lantus) that acts as your background for 24 hours is 48 units for me. I find that it is hard for me to sleep without my sugars elevating by morning, we have tweaked both insulins but I either go hypo or find my sugars are above ten by morning.

Horses can get a similar condition to diabetes but I doubt they would be much good as a racehorse if suffering from the disease.

War Command may wear blinkers on his next start and I’m not sure how good a sign that is. Another O’Brien horse is already 14/1 for next years 2000G. War Envoy has won twice at 5f already and is said to be having another run a week Saturday. He’s hot fav for the Coventry and that will be his 4th race by mid June, not a typical profile for next year’s classics.

I got all that advice about the wholemeal bread also. To be honest, its better than white bread but its still not great. Lentils (puy or green) are the real magic ingredient if you can find a way to put them in your diet but if your not used to them, they can be hard to take (nice with duck though). Porridge is ok in the morning but again you have to get some basic exercise. Im sure you have done the whole carb counting thing.

I think with war front offspring it probably depends on the mares bloodline. Declaration of war best two runs were his last two and that was when he was 4. Guerre has come out and won a good race in his first run at 3 and the Great War looks an exceptional 2 yo. It’s too early to tell if war fronts will be just speedy 2yo but I do agree that they need fast ground as we saw with declaration of war he was much better horse on firm ground although he ran a great race in the breeders cup. War front doesn’t fetch 160,000 per foal for nothing. I suspect on this one mr magnier will be a more shrewd just of horse that all the keyboard experts we all are.
