Hello MrE . . . .the number of hits are down, so I guess you are missed ;-)

    2 wins followed by 2 losers ? ? ? ?

QUANTUM DOT (261 days) Chepstow 2.50 Top 3 at 5/4 but is it good or bad to have a 3lb claimer riding? (better than a 7lb claimer I guess) . LOST

COSMIC RAY (6 days) 5.00 Musselburgh T3 finish price is too short but 2/1 for the win is interesting. . . WON

True as it was maninpub and few extra coppers today going into the pot but as yet I cannot fathom any real sequence or the best way to stake.

Perhaps it will gradually fall into place a little bit at a time.

My own experience tells me that win/lose sequences are random. So just leave to it the law of averages. It seems to be primarily a place system. You have a fair number of selections each week too. So..my suggestion is this.
Divide your bank by 20. That should be your stake for two weeks. Every 2nd Sunday after racing evaluate your bank and divide by 20. That’s your stake for the next two weeks.
    Hope this helps. :good:

    A good suggestion maninpub.

It is very early days for both the idea and the flat season and I have always liked to have a feel for it.

A wise man did tell me that no staking plan could be of much value if the system did not pay its way firstly with level stakes.

However your suggestion is more what he would call “money management” rather than a staking plan, I think you will agree.

I agree in part..but is IS a good LS staking plan too. It will only work well if your bank does not decrease too dramatically. Should it do so, then your system/selection method is simply not good enough. It’s what’s known as ‘a bin job’ :)

I do belong to a section of the betting fraternity who are of the belief to Keep It Simple (Stupid)

This I seriously believe is because we do not have the nous for better.

Old can sometimes be referred to as stupid but were not always so its just the brain cells die with the years.

Simple is easy and will do for me and that is why I like your 2 week/20 plan.

DENMEAD (4 days) 1.35 Goodwood is out of my pre-set price range but I still hope it does well.3rd

SLIM PICKENS (525 days) Hexham 5.35 at 6/4 to win is my one for today. . . . . WON

Oh dear, I have a lay bet on Slim Pickens. Remember him in Dr Strangelove?

I am not sure if I am pleased or not to have swerved yesterdays selections

    Wednesday: –

The big swerve yet again today, just a gut feeling about the available early prices making the top 3 finish prices uninteresting to me.

    CELESTATION (7 days) Bath 8.05 . . . . . . . . . .3rd

Hello again Billy my young todger, I hope all is well down here in the basement block….. was just wondering why your down here cleaning the latrines… was it punishment your your abuse of “Sue”, I gather Matron was pretty upset about that. I would have thought that you would have checked with Nathan first, before using all that superglue…. some of those splits and openings were NOT tears or damage and Sue would not have leaked…. now you’ve left Matron bereft and there’s nowhere that he can rest his head.

With reference to the above selections…. where the hell are you getting those from???… I thought that we were on the LEAST number of days since last run at each meeting, and the same again with the MOST days since last run. But you’ve called for a selection on Oriental Relation which is showing 8 days since it’s last run and yet there’s a horse in the same race that has only 7 days since it’s last outing (Sylvanus)…. have you gone and changed the rules???….

Let me put Sue to one side for the moment, she has seen better days anyway and if you can find a more recent version that would not tire me out too much please introduce her to me.

Now then MrE allow me to reprise the renewal of the original idea by my respected Fenman.

Although I do not have his book WORDS FROM THE WISE at hand (it is at home) but from memory it was to check the D. Mail Formcast rating for each race and select from all meetings the one having been away from the races the longest and the one making the quickest return.

Because I can only cope with the D. Mail for short periods and refer to it as the daily depression I chose to supplement the Formcast rating with that of the Express Spot Form by way of an experiment.

From this point it must be up to any interested reader to then decide to bet or not to bet.

Today FRIDAY I have two which are both of interest to myself: –

    THAMMIN (239 days) 3.55 Lingfield being the early 9/2 3rd fav. . . . . LOST

    ALEXANDER M (6 days) 8.00 Nottingham being the early 10/3 2nd fav. . . . 3rd
Both are available at 4/5 for a top 3 finish which is why they are of interest to myself. 4/5 is the minimum price I am happy with for a top 3 finish and of course they must be in field of 8 minimum to qualify for the T3 finish.

Use any handicap rating of your choice, give it a go or try out the two from each meeting, the world is your oyster
and am sure your results will prove better than mine which is treading water as they say after 32 days and showing a 1 point loss but after all it is only my bit of fun.
