Note to self:
You bloody fool Ginger!
Didn’t study the 3:10 in anything like as much detail as you should!
Don’t let a losing run get to you!
Sorry follower.
At least Savello made a nice profit on the day, but should’ve been better!Value Is EverythingMarch 3, 2013 at 16:02 #431167I think savello was available most of the day at pretty attractive prices on betfair GT, double figures I believe. Nice call though did it well despite the fall of the fav.

Didn’t see any double figure odds myself Milbear, saw bits and pieces of 8/1 and 17/2 though, so you could be right. I think with Tony Martin’s reputation punters tend to want to lay his horses if they’re not backed in the morning. But I’ve noticed it’s not such a big deal in conditions races, particularly with Gigginstown horses. Savello put up an improved performance last time out in first time hood and thankfully the headgear worked again. Seemed to idle on the run-in too, which shouldn’t harm his handicap mark.
Never know what the favourite would’ve done, but I wanted to oppose Rupert Lamb at that price. Made all at a fast pace on heavy ground last time (test of stamina at the trip). Wasn’t gauranteed to get his own way out in front today and bound to favour speed. To my eye wasn’t going as well as the winner at the time.
Nice to see The Real Article showing something of his real hurdles form today. But thought he was priced up as guaranteed to run to his smaller obstacle form; not guaranteed at all.
Cootamundra was over-priced last night, talented, but not one to have a major bet on given his strike rate. Ran well enough in third.
Dylan Ross ran poorly last twice, so quite why he was 9/2 is beyond me. Special Tiara didn’t look up to this grade. It’s nice when a race works out for a change Milbear.

Value Is EverythingMarch 4, 2013 at 00:51 #431243That’s the only race I am interested in for tomorrow’s racing.
Value Is EverythingMarch 4, 2013 at 08:28 #431250Morning Ginge.
I think you`ve said it all in your note to self really.
Excellent winner with Savello, then gives a load back to the bookies by getting involved in
that
sort of race, under prepared as well, AND after the discussion we had at Newbury

Lessons always best learned when clouted in the pocket, and we`ve all been there, so on to today and hopefully an early recovery mission.
March 4, 2013 at 16:38 #431292I know Softie, after Saturday I should know better.
I don’t mind betting in "open" handicaps, got to accept I won’t get as many winners in them but the value is still there if enough time is spent studying. However Softie, at Newbury we were also talking about when to get involved in exactas and trifectas.
Three horses backed in the race today. 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I see on betfair this morning the three were 1,2 and 3 for Timeform’s "1-2-3". But at the time of my bet last night they had no "tips" up for the race.
Exacta paid £26.80 and Trifecta £101.90. What’s more… The winner was only my saver bet.

I’ll be looking at the 3:30 Exeter and 4:50 Newcastle tonight.I’ve had a look at the 4:50 Newcastle and it’s full of dodgepots and iffy jumpers, so no bet in that race.
Am looking at a couple of novice races as possible betting races.

Don`t want to talk about it Ginge, as you can see though i am thoroughly delighted not to have been involved.
