With You doesn’t seem to have grown much over the winter and I wouldn’t be backing her here. Laurens looks much more like the thing.
Freddie’s horse was hopeless in the last race as well so it’s not looking great.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 27, 2018 at 14:50 #1355195Great run from With You, of course it’s all lost in the acclaim for Laurens, despite her scraping home.
With You will be a player in the Prix Diane based on that run and she’s beaten off fillies who looked to have more scope than her.
As I said earlier in the thread, With You looked as talented as any I saw in France last year and she’s made a damn good effort there in a Group 1 after along lay off and a slow start to her season.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 27, 2018 at 16:06 #1355201Recoletos scored easily despite a tardy start. Almodovar was runner up with Rouget’s Taareef a very one paced fourth.
It’s as well I am going cold turkey on the day to day betting, because I couldn’t get a winner to save myself.
I am not touching the Handicaps at Royal Ascot this season and have just put a few more up this year in the other races, with many of my bets being placed ages ago in an attempt to get a few low cost bets at bigger odds.
Recoletos looks an improved horse this season and I still feel he just didn’t quite get home in last season’s French Derby. I thought he was coming to win the race but he was collared late by two others.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 27, 2018 at 21:15 #1355220Another win for the machine as Vazirabad wins in typical come from behind style.
I was surprised to see him at 6/5 odds given his prolific strike rate.
With You is available at 8/1 for the Prix Diane and I’ll be having some of that. Laurens is as low as 4/1 and that makes no sense to me given a short head between the pair today and the likelihood that With You can come on the better of the pair given their profiles.
I reckon they should be a lot closer in the betting.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 28, 2018 at 07:15 #1355233great run by With You, also liked the run of Flowrider, who only see the racecourse for the first time three weeks ago
May 30, 2018 at 18:37 #1355414Agree Steve WITH YOU for diane at 8/1
In french derby i think Rouget horse win i like better ground for him though same comment apply to Rostropovich who on good ground is very good horse but any rain in ground then not suit him not see best of him in rain soften ground.
May 30, 2018 at 21:03 #1355431I thought Olmedo won the Guineas in the style of a horse who would appreciate a bit further. I am not a fan of Rostropovich. For me, he’s held by the French horses and My Lord And Master didn’t do a lot for the Chester form.
If I was to pick another one it would be Dice Roll at 12/1. I see no reason why he should be double the odds of Rostropovich and Study Of Man.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 13, 2018 at 14:19 #1356760Any views of SHANAZA in terms of Arc 3yo fillys have good record in race 20/1 fave for diane to
June 18, 2018 at 22:25 #1357247Sorry, I didn’t see this post Darren.
I had Shahnaza as a lay for the Diane. I reckoned she is more of a staying type. She didn’t really do enough in the Diane to convince that she has the class and I feel the filly she beat previously (Pollara) was well overrated by The Racing Post on 106 for winning what looked a very weak Group 3 next time.
Hard to see past Cracksman in the Arc if he gets his Mojo back in The Prince Of Wales. A dominant show surely sees him skinny, especially after Saxon Warrior’s tame Derby effort.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 8, 2018 at 10:21 #1359707Any views on Prix jean prat i think back to 1m see return of form by OLMEDO 11/4
July 29, 2018 at 11:52 #1361422With You is the potential improver in The Prix Rothschild and main danger to my pick Aljazzi, 10/3 for Botti’s filly with Sky Bet looks generous. She beat a decent field (including the progressive Urban Fox) comprehensively last time out at Ascot. She has similar track and conditions today.
If she takes the trip well she’ll be hard to beat.
July 30, 2018 at 00:05 #1361475With You made no mistake in drawing away to win by 3 lengths today. I was a little disappointed with her run in the Diane.
She looks to me that she will get a mile and a half but I have no idea if she will go to the Arc.
Another of my fillies to follow in France, Homerique, won with a bit in hand yesterday. Francis Graffard doesn’t get many but I think he does well with those he has and after Rouget and Fabre, he’s one I like to keep an eye on. Freddy Head would be in there but he’s a bit unreliable at times, for me anyway.
Great looking filly for Rouget today in Tasleya, a daughter of Frankel. She was very eyecatching at Deauville over 6F, quickening right away to win by three and a half lengths. Britain’s Got Talent but now France has as well.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 30, 2018 at 11:56 #1361494Kicking myself for not backing With You yesterday, she brought G1 form well and truly to the table. Her first run of the this season showed great promise and she duly delivered on it. I feared my Aljazzi goose was cooked as With you came in from 5’s to 2’s. Will be interesting to see how she’s campaigned from here in, doesn’t scream Arc to me but she’s obviously untroubled by give in the ground, so will certainly be keeping an eye out for her come the autumn.
August 19, 2018 at 13:26 #1363511I’ve backed LADY FRANKEL today. That run in the l’Opera was fantastic, probably not given an ideal ride. She finished in a bunch with subsequent G1 horses and she has only been seen once since, running in a prep for this race.
August 22, 2018 at 00:16 #1363682Steve can you post your UK\ireland antepost bets in this thread or a new thread, if it’s not too much bother?
September 8, 2018 at 15:45 #1372447Sorry Istabraq, didn’t see this thread as I have abandoned it.
I don’t think there is enough interest to keep it going and I have had lousy luck this year.
33/1 shot in the Derby, hot fav on the day and flopped.
25/1 shot in the 1000 Guineas and she was injured, then beat the winner of that race on both occasions they met since.
Harry Angel at 5/1 Royal Ascot, then got trapped in the stalls
Kew Gardens at 6/1 for the Lingfield Derby trial, went off odds on and flopped, beat that horse every time they met since.
Blue Point at 15/2 out in Meydan, he lined up about Evens and was withdrawn 30 secs before the start with a nosebleed.
Wind Chimes in the French Guineas, they changed to the outside track just before the race and her draw meant she had to come wide and late. Would have won in two more strides at good odds.
It’s just been that sort of year.
My best looking picks this season are Calyx 25/1 2000 Guineas, Too Darn Hot 50/1 in the Derby, Ten Sovereigns 16/1 Commonwealth Cup and Enable 5/1 in the Arc.
Bit short on time these days so I’m just posting in the relevant threads.
I picked Persian King out as my French Derby horse but you just can’t early prices on the French races.
Best of luck!
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
October 23, 2018 at 23:17 #1378512Hi Steve
..I know you’ll be reading this and jumping up and down as you can’t answer, but there’s a very good 2yo Godolphin horse running at Deauville Tomorrow….
1.20 Deauville
ART DU VALUnfortunately not priced at the moment and could go off favourite as has had only the one race all season which he won.

Buick on board
Get on…Jac
