    Patrick Mullins

“hoping” to get KOPEK DES BORDES to the Dublin Racing Festival.

“He is back in full training and we’re very happy with him. We’re hoping to get him to the DRF, that’s what we’re trying to do.

“We were very happy with his chase debut and it was a pity he missed Christmas. It’s not ideal, but that’s just the cards we were dealt.”

Currently Romeo Coolio 6/4, Kopek Des Bordes 7/4
I wouldn’t be overly keen even if he made it with words like “hoping” but lets just hope he is able to get back on track then… If he was spot on he’d be beating Romeo Coolio over this distance.
I’d take Irish Panther in a match bet with Romeo at current prices

Kargese is the same price now as Kopek …
I’d take Irish Panther to win the race now at 4’s

Owner Charles McCarthy said: “Willie rang me this morning and said he won’t run. He’s working well and everything is positive but he’s just not happy to take on these horses at the moment. He just needs a little more time and that’s what he doesn’t have before Saturday.

Everything isn’t positive … he had a setback at Christmas and now misses this…

It’s a huge weekend for Mullins , it’s been a iffy winter ,he’d normally clear up at the DRF but there’s a few questions this weekend

KDB – it is bit of a worry going to Cheltenham with just one chase run. Has any horse won an Arkle after just 1 prep run before?

Not exactly a prep run, more a chase debut

Western Warhorse won for Pipe in 2014 after only one chase outing. He only ever ran in one further chase.

Well Chief one race at Taunton 6 weeks before beating Kicking King.

More pertinent might be the gap between the two runs – vast majority of Arkle winners had race in the calendar year.

I remember being at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting 1978, when the rain was torrential and the ground was like a bog and waterlogged. But more senior racegoers opined that it was such an important meeting at that time that racing would take place short an earthquake, Monksfield carried 12 st in the (then) Sweeps Hurdle, slugging around into third behind Chinrullah (10st 6ilbs). Constitution Hill would have remained in his box, I reckon.
