Mullins saying KDB might run too fresh after a short break
What does he think he’ll run at Cheltenham after a long one…

January 30, 2026 at 11:54 #1752466My understanding with what he was saying was that he feels he may run a bit free and would rather he do it at Cheltenham on hopefully better ground than the taxing conditions at the weekend. As for his actual physical condition we will just have to take the trainer’s word for it that all is well.
January 30, 2026 at 12:13 #1752467He couldn’t see the possibility of the going being like it is ??
Maybe he could have of said something before. I’ve not bet him for this so not pocket talking, the market told you something wasn’t right, I did Irish Panther but Henderson would get slaughter if doing the same thingGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026

You’re not wrong. As he’s not a bookie ambassador with a consistent microphone in his face, and is by and large loved by the racing media which negates criticism, he’s able to give updates on his horses whenever he likes.
January 30, 2026 at 13:30 #1752474If he wants to run KDB, theres the Kingmaker next week, or a Novice Maiden at Southwell on Friday in the near future.
But defo could have been more upfront than he was.January 30, 2026 at 16:18 #1752507Southwell .. Imagine if they did , at this rate with hill turning up to they’ll be able to call it ” Southwell the home of last minute panic Cheltenham prep “…

January 31, 2026 at 08:13 #1752582Meeting moved to Monday.
Bad news for anyone who has travelled over from the UK. Although I expect it is good news for the publicans of Dublin.
February 2, 2026 at 15:15 #1753247Jeez, what a race that was, made hugely more enjoyable by the analysis of Ruby, Davy Russell, and Barry Geraghty on RTE – what a treat compared with ITV.
Cheltenham hill will suit Romeo Coolio very well – not quite so sure the fences will. The mare will take a long time to get over that. As a footnote, those three analysts thought Townend erred in going for the inside rail coming into the straight and that Jack outrode him on the run in.
February 2, 2026 at 15:25 #1753254I suspect they are right. Something else to add to the school of thought that Townend is not riding very well at the moment, notwithstanding his steering job in the first race.
February 2, 2026 at 15:28 #1753255Kennedy is riding brilliantly at the moment . A great duel but probably not ideal for either horse to have had such a battle on heavy ground with Cheltenham coming up. Lulamba will probably have an easy cruise round in the Kingmaker and still looks the likely Arkle winner. Not sure that KDB will even turn up.
February 2, 2026 at 15:29 #1753256Both horses looked leg-weary in the closing stages. I wonder if Romeo Coolio’s target remains the Arkle and what’s on the agenda for Kargese.
February 2, 2026 at 16:16 #1753302I think Romeo will go to the Browns Advisory. He looks a stayer and Final Demand has a huge question mark over him now

February 2, 2026 at 16:20 #1753304“I think Romeo will go to the Browns Advisory.”
From the RP website, trainer said in his post race interview “The owners are keen on Cheltenham and we’ll make a decision on which race to go for [Arkle or Ryanair].”
February 2, 2026 at 16:25 #1753312Romeo Coolio has stamina and guts and maybe 3 miles would give him the thinking time he needs at fences. But Elliott didn’t look enthusiastic about it on RTE, and it’s a substantial leap of faith on the distance side.
February 2, 2026 at 17:42 #1753348Mike that quote is wrong
Elliot was interviewed on RTE and said he won’t go Ryanair and its between the two novice races
Brain Gleeson said Arkle or Ryanair and Elliot said he won’t go Ryanair so Gleeson said its the ArklePersonally the route he has gone down it looks likely the Arkle but I think he’d be better in the Browns

February 2, 2026 at 17:49 #1753350Elliott’s comments here would suggest he’s leaning towards the Brown Advisory, although the ground will play a big part in the final decision:
