Tend to agree on the prices Steve.
SS backers would be hoping his wind was causing him big issues last year, and this is the “new” him.
Either way he has plenty to find with Chilean.
Stephensons Rocket an interesting horse for the year as well. Not for here though.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!April 27, 2018 at 15:09 #1352178I could sink the Bismark.
The rains came and scuppered my plan as Chilean was a little keen and didn’t last home. Sevenna Star just got up gamely enough but Ispolini might be the horse to take going forward. He was a bit wide on the turns and experience will help him.
Chilean has less scope than the others and probably time to put a fork in him.
As a Derby Trial it wasn’t of much impact. They were in a heap and don’t look good enough I feel.
Study Of Man, who Chilean beat last time was said by trainer Pascal Bary to be missing Epsom. He added that he doesn’t think he has much of a 3YO team this year. Form tie Near Gold was also beaten today and I must say the French horses look moderate this season.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 29, 2018 at 22:56 #1352595Catching up on other bets made.
Lockinge Le Brivido 10/1
Albany Stakes So Perfect 10/1
There was an overreaction to Le Brivido getting beaten in the Abernant and 10/1 was too big for the Lockinge at a more suitable trip than 6F.
So Perfect is a filly by Scat Daddy who was not that fancied over 5F at Navan on debut. She made good headway under hand riding and closed well for pushing and one tap of the whip to get up and win at the line. She will come on a good bit and I like the way she picked up for her jockey when asked. Looks like 6F will see her in a better light and I would think she’s Ascot class in a race or two’s time.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 1, 2018 at 06:56 #1352693Luminate runs in Group 3 today at Saint Cloud. I quite liked her last season
May 1, 2018 at 13:43 #1352715Looked beat one out, fought back and done it nicely on the end, probably better than 1/2L winning margin
May 1, 2018 at 14:13 #1352717I was not that impressed with Illuminate in terms of looks today. She doesn’t seem to have grown much over the winter and in the race itself she was definitely outpaced at one stage by the ultimate runner up.
Homerique looked to have come through with a winning run but I feel she was perhaps caught out by a combination of inexperience and tiredness.
Although winning by 8 lengths in her only previous run, she was awarded a RPR of 80 and learned nothing about real racing that day. She came into today’s race rated 26 lbs behind the favourite and has run a cracking race. I feel she has more physical scope than Illuminate and they must hold her in some regard as she is entered in the Epsom Oaks.
Homerique was only half a length away from recording a huge win today and perhaps she will be overlooked and go off at rewarding odds next time.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 1, 2018 at 14:27 #1352719TBF to Luminate it was only her third run also, just thought Peslier was caught out a little by the runner ups run.
May 1, 2018 at 15:37 #1352724Steve i read that Wooton has a entry in Grand prix de paris on breeding think he stay 1m4
As others said i am a fan of Olmedo as well on better ground think be a star this season 1m and 1m2 races for him
Any of entries in french derby and Prix diane any maiden winners or maidens or even unraced horses think could could do anything this season.
May 1, 2018 at 20:41 #1352751I am not sure Wootton will stay a mile and a half Darren.
In general I don’t think it’s a great crop of French horses this year.
I think Freddy Head has the most promising group of Fillies this year and Christophe Soumillon stated that that he wasn’t confident about many of Rouget’s 3YO crop this season. Pascal Bary doesn’t rate his bunch very highly this season and Fabre doesn’t seem quite the force he used to be.
I’m generally keeping an open mind and still waiting to see something special this season from the French side. I felt With You might be above average this year and am interested to see where she starts. The Dansili filly hosed up in both her races last season and Head said at that time that the Prix Diane would be her target.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 2, 2018 at 14:54 #1352803As I said on the 1000 Guineas thread, Laurens is my last play to try to save my neck there after main bets Wind Chimes and Veracious flopped and got injured.
She seemed the last value in a fairly open renewal at 10/1. I did Laurens last year after she had finished behind Polydream, the French 1000 Guineas Favourite, and then passed her over next time due to concerns about being fast enough, only for them to completely reverse tactics with her and hold September off late. I felt Laurens had greater physical scope than September and that filly misses the race now.
1000 Guineas Laurens 10/1

With You,is said to be slightly behind the others(with all the bad weather) but she is getting there

Thanks very much for that N.
The Frankel colt Rabdan, who was supplemented for the Epsom Derby, was running at ParisLongchamp today. He went off about 4/6 Fav but was very one paced and could only finish 3rd in the Listed contest.
Yet another runaway winner on heavy ground who proved flattered by the wide margin win. There will be no Derby for him.and he was a silly price for Epsom at 20/1 as a maiden winner rated 88.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 4, 2018 at 15:43 #1352919A very nice start for Andre Fabre’s Vautrin at Parislongchamp the other day. The son of Bated Breath was running over 6F and came through readily to pull away for an easy 4 length win. Hard to evaluate the form but he was awarded 85 on RPR’s and looks capable of progressing into a nice sprinter.
He breaks from the stall furthest left and is always handy in the yellow colours with blue cap. He looks to have enough on to win but draws up easily and passes then to win 4 lengths back on the bridle:-

May 4, 2018 at 17:46 #1352930I have decided to have a bet on Lah Ti Dar for the Oaks before she runs in the Pretty Polly on Sunday.
The odds of 11/1 are a bit thin but if she wins on Sunday and Happily gets beat in the Guineas we will have a new favourite for the race I feel. I will also try to get a price for the trial and Oaks as a double if I can to lessen the stake, so I’ll be keeping a sharp eye either way.
I saw the field for the Cheshire Oaks and see little to be concerned about there and I just have a concern for September after she missed the Guineas. I have always been concerned about her training on at 3YO.
Taghrooda and Talent landed the Pretty Polly before going on to Epsom glory and with little else catching the eye 11/1 seems OK with the race sort of looking less solid than it did when I first saw Lah Ti Dar.
Markets are sure to be shaken up this weekend and I can’t resist the possibility that I might be sitting on the new favourite on Sunday evening.
Lat Ti Dar 11/1 (Oaks) or better if I can secure odds for the double with the Pretty Polly.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 5, 2018 at 11:02 #1353059The weather looks good leading up to 2000G, and I think the better ground is going to help turn OLMEDO into a bit of a tool.
Do we think I’ll be able to get bigger than 9/2 closer to the day?
May 5, 2018 at 12:54 #1353081I think Wootton and Olmedo will dominate the betting. US Navy Flag is supposed to run in the French 2000 as well but his seasonal debut was poor and you can get 12/1 for him. I wouldn’t go bigger than 4/1 Olmedo myself.
Freddy Head’s With You is said to be making her comeback in the Group 1 Prix St Alary. The trainer said it is not ideal starting off at Group 1 level but there is a lack of options.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 8, 2018 at 13:44 #1353462Did you see Study Of Man Steve? That was more like it I think….
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
